Today’s Objectives...
We will define the word symbol and will
identify and discuss 3 symbols we have read
about so far in Romeo and Juliet.
We will finish reading Act 1.
We will review and update our themes for Act
1.
We will compare and contrast a theme from
Act 1 with themes from our real lives.
We will define the word symbol and will identify
and discuss 3 symbols we have read about so
            far in Romeo and Juliet.
 What is a symbol?
  – Look it up in the dictionary and record the
    definition on your sheet.
 Look for 3 symbols we have read about in
 Romeo and Juliet.

 Record the 3 symbols on your sheet, along
 with the page number and what you think
 they represent.
We will finish reading Act 1.

We will compare and contrast a theme
from Act 1 with themes from our real lives.
 Pick one theme from the play so far:
 -give three examples of the theme in
 the play
 -explain why you chose this theme
 -find and write about a real-life
 connection to this theme in the news -
 compare and contrast with the theme
 from Romeo and Juliet.
