• Siblings: Family consisted of 6 children. Oldest brother Joseph passed away in 2004 in France, he was 78
years old; Sister Terry lives in Lockhart, Texas; Henri lives in Rabat, Morocco and owns land and operates
quarry extracting marbles and granite exported to various parts of the countries in France, Italy, and America
• Clothing: Loves labels; classical design; Great material, classic shoes and fine accessories. Fortunate to travel
to Milan, Italy where workmanship is superior
• Learn English and other Languages: While in French Morocco, and France she learned English, German,
Spanish, and some Arabic language
• Major World Event: At 2 years old when Germany left Morocco and France. Her recollection is limited, but
she said the lasting influence of the damages of the war remained deeply in her life. While in Germany she
visited a concentration camp in Dachau, Germany. Most devastating, chilling and unforgettable memory of
her life
• Military Service: Her husband; Potsy Allen (my grandfather) was a Navy Pilot and flew SNJ’s- Post Korean War

• Memories: Her father took my Grandma’s husband, my mom (Betty Moseley) , and her to the Airport in
Casablanca; held her close and stayed there waving; as plane took off she saw her fathers frame slowly
disappearing as they flew away. First time in her life that she lost someone dear
• Childhood Memories: Working on the Farm in North Africa, near the Atlas Mountain Range. Her father came to
French Morocco as a colonist; he was an irrigation engineer. He designed and built elevated tanks made of
concreate, a levee to open the valves for land irrigation. My grandmother’s father invented the centrifugal pump to
be installed at the bottom of wells, system was made of cast iron material; pump was patented in his name and
became very important in irrigation in that part of the country. Another interesting fact is that my grandmother
met the King briefly in Morocco. His name as she recalls was Moulay Hassan. He gave my grandmother a hawk to
take care of.
• Personal Connection to Agriculture: My grandmother owns a 1300 acre ranch in Luling Tx. It is her pride and joy;
Father invented centrifugal pump; Are family are descendants of the Mayflower, She picks pecans out at the ranch;
sells them to local market; She builds houses/ remodels; at the moment is working on a log cabin for my family to
stay in when visiting the ranch; Use to own another ranch in Johnson City for over 20 years but sold it a few years
ago; raises Beef master cattle at our ranch
• Growing up in Segregation: Question is lodged in her mind as a precursor of how difficult it is to overcome hostility
in people who are prejudice

• As her mother (Chris Allen) was working two jobs my mom basically raised the family by herself
