4. If you plan to…
First get an Associate’s degree from LCC
Then… get a 4 year Bachelor’s Degree
Your major at LCC will be Liberal Arts.
You will declare your Bachelor’s Degree major
when you transfer.
5. If you plan to…
Transfer to UH Manoa
With 24 credits: You can transfer to UH Manoa;
However, this is not recommended because
you will be tested for English Proficiency
and may be required to enroll in their ELI for up to 1 year.
With 60 credits: you will not be tested for English
proficiency.
Therefore, we strongly recommend you earn 60
credits before transferring
6. If you plan to…
Transfer to other US universities
We recommend: transfer after you have passed
ENGLISH 100E.
This course is required at all colleges and
universities in the U.S.
7. Enrolling in Credit
You are now responsible for
• Choosing your courses
• Meeting with a counselor
• Obtaining necessary forms and signatures
• Updating your insurance
• Removing all holds from your account
• Registering for classes online
• Paying tuition
• Finding your textbooks in the bookstore
8. Key information and terms
After completing ELI level 4, you must enroll in ESL 21 and
ESL 22.
ESL 21/22 are prerequisites for many credit courses (you
must pass ESL 21/22 before you can register for many credit
courses).
What is a pre-requisite?
This is a class you must have taken and passed before you can enroll.
What is concurrent enrollment or co-requisite?
You must be enrolled in this course at the same time.
What is rec-preparation?
This is recommended for success in the course you wish to enroll.

session offering ESL 21/22)
July 6-August 14: Summer session 2 (very limited
courses for you at this point)
August 24-December 18: Fall semester

Click on Classes at top of page
Select the appropriate Semester or summer session
Select the Subject Area
Review the course number (CRN), meeting time, instructor,
and number of seats available, location, dates
12. How will I register on my own?
1. Get a pre-registration form from the Int’l Office (BE 109)
2. Check class availability & course descriptions on the LCC
website and fill in the form
3. Make an appointment with a counselor to discuss and
choose your classes We strongly recommend Nicole Keim-
Fortuno in LA-201. Her email is keim@hawaii.edu
4. Get your counselor’s signature on the pre-registration form!
5. Bring it to the Int’l Office (BE 109); we will check that you
have health insurance for the upcoming semester
6. Wait one day for the Int’l Office to remove your “HOLD”
7. Log into myUH.hawaii.edu, register for classes and pay
tuition

Health Insurance
You must renew your insurance through 12/18/15
before you can register
Academic Advising
You must meet with a counselor and get a
signature before you can register
YOU MUST DO THESE THINGS EACH SEMESTER!!!
14. F-1 Visa Rules
You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits each
semester
A minimum of 9 credits must be “in the classroom”-
this means 3 of your 12 credits can be taken “online”.
9 out of your 12 credits must be at LCC.
** For residents of the US or students with other types
of visas, the above rules do not apply.
