Message from the Head Teacher
Clay P. Bedford once said, “ You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn
by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”
This is exactly what our approach at Assafwah Private School, Sohar is towards the process of learning.
A teacher once told me that an education institution, be it school, college or university, is a place where
you ‘learn to learn’.
Welcome to the first newsletter of Assafwah Private School Sohar. The objective of this newsletter is two
fold, to keep you abreast and familiarize you with the scool and its learning environment; and secondly
though this newsletter we aim to connect directly with the parent community by providing a platform
where questions can be raised and suggestions forwarded.
By introducing this mode of communication, we hope to enhance the learning experience for every in-
volved as it will help to bounce ideas and bring about improvement in the school for all of us to benefit
from. At the same time, this is an opportunity for the students and staff at the school to inform the par-
ents about the various approaches to learning and educating adapted at Assafwah Private school So-
har.
It is our dream that students will experience their classrooms as invigorating, even inspiring environ-
ments—places they look forward to going to and places they hate to leave. It is our dream that they will
come to know themselves as masters of various crafts; that they will come to love the process of learn-
ing itself by making it their friend.
In Mr. Gandhi’s word, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Let’s be that change!!!

ASSAFWAH Private School is a BILINGUAL school situated in the heart of Muscat, Oman.
Assafwah Private School was started in the year 2000 with a strong objective in itself to
provide a caring, secure and stimulating environment in which children, students and
adults achieve their full potential knowledge through intellectual, cultural and sporting
activities. In Pursuit of our Objective we aim to provide best quality of Education to our
student, which enables them to move onto next phase of their educational life without any
disadvantages. We are very proud of our heritage. We believe in traditional values &
customs such as, courteous behavior and smart appearance. But we also seek new ways
to prepare our students for a modern international world. We develop enthusiasm, toler-
ance, decency and a love of learning in our students. We promote the development of
the whole individual within a dynamic, multicultural and responsible community.
The curriculum followed in our school is from Cambridge University, United Kingdom.
The main objective of our curriculum is learning by inquiry and doing projects. Individu-
als with the pre-knowledge learn the best through project works when they are empow-
ered and given responsibilities for their own learning process. This will improve the edu-
cational standard of child’s learning. To teach the student’s there should be a proper en-
vironment. Indeed Assafwah School has well equipped air-conditioned classrooms to en-
able children to learn in eco-friendly environment.
The Teachers of Assafwah Private School encourage students to act responsibly in their
educational classes. This helps the students to build and develop their linguistic skills
and qualities. It would also help them to refine their knowledge in the classrooms. It
gives the students a sense of autonomy. Peer teachers encourage the students to view
classrooms as an open environment in which everyone has an equal opportunity to speak
rather than a place where they passively listen to their teachers. Peer teaching enables
the students to see teaching as a dynamic process rather than the one-way transmission
of the information. Student counselors help to create school environments that support all
students to participate in school life, access school-based resources and achieve to their
highest level. Our Teachers analyze, interpret and directly intervene with the students.
All the teachers of our school are highly qualified and profound in their knowledge. We
take teachers from various parts we have teachers from Oman, Jordan, Egypt, India and
special teachers from European countries for teaching English.

VISION AND MISSION
Our Vision:
The vision of our educational institution is to inculcate knowledge and develop interpersonal
skills to the younger generation. The Institute is guided by those values and principles that
uphold a community: fairness, tolerance, respect, and the desire to improve communication
and understanding among people from diverse backgrounds. We believe that cultural under-
standing can, and should be, achieved through community education and communication.
Our vision is to explore new horizons, cherish our heritage, open new possibilities, believe in
tomorrow and realize our dreams.
Our Mission:
The mission of our educational system is the all-round development of children. Make them
obtain a new vision through their school, and a new promise for their future, and a new com-
mitment for the nation as a whole.
Through partnerships with other institutions such as schools, universities, libraries and pri-
vate sector donors, our institute is dedicated to fostering community among people of other
cultures and those interested in our cultural heritage. Thus, the institute encourages inter-
cultural communication and community interaction between people of all cultures.
SCHOOL MANAGEMENT
We have designed a School Management System, – to provide online
interactive community portal of stakeholders to enhance the effi-
ciency of school administration and improve resource optimisation, to
raise the standards of the Institution, the main branch and other
branches. This online school management system also includes a
whole range of activities such as incorporating different rules of an
education system and taking care of diverse needs coming from dif-
ferent standards emerging in education such as boards, grades, gov-
ernment standards and compliances, to name a few. This fully
browser-based school management system software can be conven-
iently accessed from both school intranet and public internet. Yet an-
other advantage of this education management system software is that it runs on minimal
hardware and easily fits in the budget of schools.
The management system comprise with the Chairman who is the Chief Executive officer of
the Assafwah International Educational Establishment and the Assafwah Private Schools. Then
follow the Managing Director, the Principals of schools, Head of Academic Affairs, Quality As-
surance Office , Administrative staff and the Academic staff.

Our Educational System
An Educational system forms the backbone of every nation. As a matter of fact, every educational system
must aim to nurture young learners who will become global citizens in the future and take their nation to
new heights. In recent times, advanced technology is extensively being used to revolutionize school man-
agement by streamlining education-related processes. Assafwah schools have their own educational sys-
tem which is based on Cambridge Education system as well as local educational organizatuons under the
Ministry of Education.
Cambridge / Primary Curriculum
The Cambridge International Primary Programme gives schools a
framework to develop Mathematics, English and Science skills and
knowledge of young learners. The Primary Programme provides guid-
ance for curriculum development and classroom teaching and learning,
and allows teachers to assess children’s learning as they progress.
The benefits of primary curriculum is that it aids to identify student’s strengths and weaknesses. It can also be used to
support learning and development among learners and educators. The Primary Programme progresses students seamlessly
into middle years curricula, such as Cambridge lower secondary programme and IGCSE.
As an international programme, the Primary Programme provides teachers with an external benchmark to apply their
teaching methods and easily measure students’ progress over time. It also allows detailed, structured reporting to parents.
The curriculum is appropriate and relevant internationally as it has been designed to be culturally sensitive. It includes top
–quality teaching and assessment resources appropriate for teaching and learning in local and international schools.
The Primary Programme complements a range of teaching methods and curricula. No part of the programme is compul-
sory and Centres are at liberty to choose the parts that best suit their situation.
