The document summarizes troubleshooting done for a thyristor open circuit alarm on a power station unit. Actions taken included monitoring the exciter PLC and collecting raw data. Findings showed the alarm was occurring when either converter was in use, currents were balanced, and signals from two analogue input modules were lower. It was recommended to check the functionality of the DCCTs with a process calibrator.

4. Actions carried out
The Exciter PLC was connected and
monitored using the Exciter Laptop.
Raw data was collected from the AI
modules.
Actual signal VDC values were measured
using a multi-meter.

11. Findings
Thyristor Open Circuit Alarm was observed
when either Convertor 1 or Convertor 2
were in service
The currents on the ammeters were
balanced
This showed the problem was neither in
the thyristors nor in the thyristor firing
card but was in the monitoring circuit.

12. Findings
After measuring, signals from AI10 and AI14 were
relatively lower compared to the rest of the signals.

13. Findings
It was discovered that both Analogue Input
modules were not faulty since they were
showing a true reflection of signals from
the DCCTs.

14. Recommendations
There is need to connect the process
calibrator on the outputs of the DCCTs
to measure their current output and
check for their correct functionality.

Notes
Use the Notes section for delivery notes or to provide additional details for the audience. View these notes in Presentation View during your presentation.
Keep in mind the font size (important for accessibility, visibility, videotaping, and online production)
Coordinated colors
Pay particular attention to the graphs, charts, and text boxes.
Consider that attendees will print in black and white or grayscale. Run a test print to make sure your colors work when printed in pure black and white and grayscale.
Graphics, tables, and graphs
Keep it simple: If possible, use consistent, non-distracting styles and colors.
Label all graphs and tables.
