2. In my magazine, there will be a variety of different rock bands/artists that will be
featured to appeal to my target audience (teenagers aged 13-19) . The reason for this is
because it won‟t solely focus on one specific band and instead will feature a variety of

attracting a much wider audience. With each artist, I will talk about their early history,

4. Rock music started to hit the nation of the United States in the early 1950s and 1960s with artists
such as Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. During those times, rock
was more rooted in a blues style and had more upbeat and calming tone. During the late 1960searly 1970s, rock began to take a drastic turn and became a more intense beat, which is where the
early phrase of “Heavy Metal” was coined. The first of many heavy metal bands started to emerge
such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, UFO and Motorhead, bands that will later be referred to as
legends by many metal fans and artists. In 1975, Led Zeppelin became known to the world and
have become one of the most popular metal bands of all time. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s,
metal had developed a considerable following with bands like Exodus and Aerosmith emerging
out of the shadows. Countries which have had the most successful heavy metal bands include the
United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Scandinavia and
Japan. By the 1990s and early 2000s, Alternative Rock, Punk Rock and Nu Metal had emerged and
soft rock began to return to the world, starting with bands such as Incubus, Green Day Linkin Park,
Black Veil Brides, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Plain White T‟s and Placebo. Many of these modern
rock bands, despite having different genres, have each had shared inspirations from various rock
legends over the years such as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Jimi
Hendrix.
