2. Expert; Apple Genius
• We chose our particular experts because
we felt they were most appropriate to our
documentary; the Apple genius is most
obviously linked to our documentary
topic area and would be able to give an
insight that voxpops wouldn’t. This
would further the realism of our
documentary as well as giving our
audience more information about the
technology they use on an everyday basis,
giving them a new perspective on what
could be the issues surrounding mobile
devices, etc. This industry expert is
representative of a global company and
would provide input that the average
population would not be able to; they are
well-educated in their area and have
extensive knowledge of the potential for
technology and its impacts, thus giving
the audience an informed view and
opinion, if slightly biased.
3. Expert: Media teacher
• Our second expert interview
was with a media teacher; we
felt this was appropriate
because they would have
first-hand knowledge of
mobile devices and their
technological development
over the years, having a huge
amount of experience with
such technology.
4. • Furthermore, they would interact with our target audience on a day-to-
day basis, and so we felt they’d be able to give an insight that
other potential experts may not be able to. Even more important
than this, a teacher’s opinion would have been a respected and
educated opinion, seeing as they have a job in education; this
strengthens the important of this expert interview, as it would have
been a contrast to the opinions of our main target audience,
representing an opinion from a higher authority.
5. Expert: Sociology teacher
• Additionally, we selected a further expert interview
which didn’t come to fruition: an interview with a
sociology teacher. This would have been appropriate
to our documentary in a similar way to the media
teacher; they’d have knowledge of societal
developments over the years and could relate theories
to technological advancements and so on. This would
have been able to educate our target audience more
about the impact of mobile phone usage.
