1. Magazine Proposal
The title for my magazine that I have chosen is ‘LoveClub’, I have chosen this as I believe it has a
current and modern feel to it attracting the audience and hopefully, from the outset, showing that
my magazine is quirky. Also it symbolises that the magazine loves club music this showing that it is
similar with the audience and informing them that from this the magazine will know a lot of things
about that genre of music.
I have chosen the dance music genre as I believe it is a very popular music genre and is seen often in
the charts with such artists as Calvin Harris and David Guetta frequently in the top ten. This
emphasising that the genre is loved by the youth of today, as this is the age group which usually
have a major effect on the layout of the charts and votes to pick their favourite songs that have been
released. Also the music is very popular at parties and clubs and these are the places that my target
audience are associated with and as these are occasions that may occur regularly, such as clubbing
and parties, dance music will be listened to repeatedly.
My target audience is teenagers and young adults aged between 16-25, as this is the age group that I
believe will listen and experience this genre of music the most. Also I think that the audience will be
attracted to the magazine as many key DJ’s in the charts and at festivals will appear in the magazine
and will be interviewed, this persuading the audience to read the magazine as their favourite artists
will be included within it.
My initial ideas for my front cover will be a house style of vibrant colours that will contrast and stand
out from the background and other images on the cover. I would like the masthead to be big and
bold and the font to be styles that will make the front cover look quirky and funky. Also I would like
the main image to cover much of the front cover or even possibly be the background itself as from
research I believe this makes the front cover look professional and also as it is not used by some
other magazines may make my magazine stand out from the others on the market. I will also include
cover lines as from research it is a convention that many popular magazines follow and I believe that
this will make my magazine look authentic.
My initial ideas for my contents page will be to follow the house style that I have used on the front
cover, keeping the same colour and font seen previously. I will attempt to create a professional
layout for my contents page, including brief descriptions about each page that is featured on the
contents page. I will also use pictures that may feature on the page in an attempt to persuade the
audience to visit these pages. Finally I will use the rule of thirds in a way that will make my contents
page look professional and authentic.
My initial ideas for my double page spread will be to again keep the house style the same, further
making my magazine look professional and authentic throughout. The idea of having one of my
pages dedicated to an image of the artist that the double page features is something I intend to use
as from research I believe this makes the double page spread look professional and also many
successful magazines use this convention. The double page spread will also be text heavy, giving the
reader a lot of information that can be gained, hopefully teasing their interest in the artist and
keeping them drawn to the page.
