Integrity of the Game: Life Lessons through Sports
When I was four I started playing softball; when I was nine I started playing tennis: and when I was
fourteen I started playing volleyball. Up until now I thought these were just ways of my parents
getting rid of me for a couple hours a day. Up until now I did not realize that I learned anything
more from playing these sports than hitting a homerun, serving a kick serve, or being able to set a
ball 20 feet away. Now, I realize that all these sports have taught me some key life lessons. These
sports have taught me that mistakes are great, to handle stress, and how to increase positive energy
even when things are not going well. They have given me a lifetime of friends, leadership skills and
more confidence in what I do. In short, playing a sport has endless benefits.
One of the more obvious benefits is better health. This would not be temporary health benefits but
life long. It is sad to hear that in the United States alone there has been a growth in childhood
obesity. 33% of children and adolescents are obese. By participating in a sport, it helps regulates the
calories that are being burned, and it helps one maintain a healthy weight. The Report from the
United Nations Inter–Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace states that children
and teens, upon playing a sport, increase the development of healthy bones, efficient heart and lung
function, and improved motor skills and cognitive function. All skills that are utilized in everyday
life. With that, this leads

1. Review the decision in the case of Shah v. HSBC (2012) and evaluate the implications of the
decision for regulated financial services firms. In particular:
* What are the key issues in the case? * Outline the decision of the court * Evaluate what practical
guidelines can be taken from the case by regulated financial services firms
Under the proceeds of crimes act 2002 (POCA) all UK financial institutions and other regulated
firms not only have to report suspicions of money laundering but they must also seek consent from
the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) to carry out any transactions which they suspect are
related to the proceeds of the crime. SOCA have a maximum of 7 working days with which to
respond to any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Court also stated that a claimant would have to demonstrate the bank had acted in bad faith
before civil liability would be entertained.
In its decision the Court of appeal did make reference to the dual pull on Banks in having to comply
with the heavy demands of a regulator whilst mitigating civil actions from potentially disgruntled
customers. It also made reference to a previous court case (De Silva v NatWest Bank 2006) where
the court made specific reference to the meaning of the word 'suspect'. Here, in relations to the claim
by Mr Shah that the reason for the suspicion itself was irrational, negligently self–induced and
mistaken, the court confirmed that HSBC merely had to think that there was a possibility, which was
more than fanciful, that the relevant facts exist when completing its SAR. On a wider note the Court
also deemed that in the future having a suspicion may constitute a good defence for Banks.
The subject of tipping off can be one of the most ambiguous subjects within financial organisations.
There are clear laws that have financial and punitive repercussions for those who recklessly or
mistakenly divulge the suspicions of the firm they are working on behalf of. The court here ruled
that the use of the legislation surrounding tipping off cannot be endlessly relied on when declining

Rump Organization
MEMORANDUM
To: Dr. John J. Morris, Department of Accounting
From: Group #2 (Jordan King, Kelsey Darnell, Xiaomeng Liao)
Date: 04/04/2013
Subject: ACCTG 642: Case 08–6, The Rump Organization
Statement of Relevant Facts
The Rump Organization is a commercial real estate company that purchases and constructs
commercial property. On the basis of the corporate restructuring plan, Rump's CEO, Ronald Rump,
and Rump's board of directors on December 27, 2005 approve a plan to involuntarily terminate 100
of the company's employees. The plan provides for each terminated employee to receive a lump–
sum cash payment equal to one month's salary only if the employee voluntarily signs a waiver of
any right to legal action against Rump. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A possible solution is that a liability is not recognized at all. A second alternative solution is that the
liability would be initially recognized at communication date, December 31, 2005, then adjusted
cumulatively over the future service period, December 31, 2005 through the termination date of
January 31, 2006. A third alternative solution is that the liability is recognized on the communication
date of December 31, 2005. We assume that management would prefer no recognition of a liability;
however, if a liability must be recognized management would prefer the liability to be recognized on
December 31, 2005, then adjusted as terminated employees sign or do not sign the waivers over the
service period. Management would not want to recognize part of the liability in January because this
would negatively affect their balance sheet and their current ratio during the first quarter, which
could, in turn, affect the company's ability to satisfy contracts or receive loans. In contrast,
recognizing the liability at the end of the year would have little to no material impact on the
company's ratios or financials since it would be taking into account the entire year versus a few
months. The auditors' main concern will be to make certain that the liability is recognized and
reported in the proper fiscal year as this liability could be quite large and materially affect financial
statements.

7. Forty percent of the inventory purchases are paid for in the month of purchase and the remaining
60% are paid in the following month (i.e. all of the previous month's Accounts Payable are paid off
by the end of any month.)
8. Per a prior contract, a cash payment of $50,000 for equipment previously purchased is due in
January. Another payment of $30,000 is due in February. Depreciation on the equipment previously
purchased is included in the overhead cost detailed in item 11 below. Also, dividends of $12,000 are
to be paid in March.
9. Monthly operating expenses consist of the following (if these are cash expenses, they are paid
when incurred):
Salaries and Wages $3,000
Sales Commissions 7% of sales revenue
Rent $8,000
Other Variable Cash Expenses 6% of sales revenue
Supplies Expense: See note $2,000
Other: See note $48,000
Note: Other general and administrative overhead is expected to be $48,000 per month. Of this
amount, $24,000 represents depreciation and other non–cash expenses. The company maintains on
hand one month's worth of supplies.
10. The company must maintain a minimum cash balance of $15,000. Borrowing can make up
shortfalls. For simplicity, assume that the bank will only lend (and accept repayments) in $1,000
increments. Ignore interest on the loan in your calculations, but minimize the amount borrowed and
pay off any loans as soon as possible.

The Big Data
Imagine being in a room with 10 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand the
conversations? It would be hard to concentrate on any one person's conversation, but you could
probably do it. Now, imagine being at the Superdome with 70,000 people talking to you. Would you
be able to understand any of the conversations? You probably could not understand any one person
for a length of time, but again you might pick out some of the words. Well, what if the scenario was
7 billion people speaking 6 thousand languages at an auctioneer's pace on the topic of their personal
family lineage; would you be able to create someone's whole family tree? This is the type of
scenario that represents the different facets of Big Data. What does it mean to say "big data"? Big
Data is more than just massive amounts of data stored together. It is more than just data delivered or
analyzed fast. Meta Group's Doug Laney described it as data that has volume, velocity, and variety
(2001). This is the 3 V's of Big Data and is widely used to define it. Additions to this definition
include other V's, such as veracity and value (XXX). What is volume? Volume could be 7 billion
people speaking at once. It can be the data created by millions of Americans uploading photos,
buying shoes online, or searching for the definition of Big Data. It is the volume of data being
created by researchers at unprecedented amounts to chart the stars, to map the human genome, or to
trend

Review Of ' The Crucible '
Kristina Garcia
Mrs. Herrera

December 11, 2016
What is Corruption?
Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but in the most
simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the struggle between what is
right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to corruption, but some say it was religious
reasons that led to this malfeasance, meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in
today's society tend to relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that
faction of society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through the
political, McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The Crucible takes place
in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during what we know as the witch trials. It is
based on a group of girls involved in "witch like" activities, who begin to accuse others of
committing witchcraft just so that they do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail
Williams, and she plots against Elizabeth Proctor who is married to John Proctor, who Abigail had
an affair with. Due to these childish and dramatic acts of Abigail and the girls, half the townspeople
were taken to trial and found guilty of witchery and worshipping the devil and were sentenced to
hang. Not till the end did the townspeople realize their mistake about the accusations, which turned
out to be false.

Managing Multiple Generations in the Workplace
Managing Multiple Generations in the Workplace
Diversity is no new thing in the workplace. Many different factors account for this circumstance in
the business arena. Gender, race and ethnicity, and age are a few of the major factors that create
diversity within the workplace. The latter, age, is one of the more understated and disregarded issue
of diversity. But over time, differences in age in the workplace has been growing more and more,
generating conflicts that could not be ignored any longer. The problem of age gaps in the workplace
is caused by having multiple generations in one workplace. Most see the age gaps in the workplace
as an inherent thing and thus, not something to cope with instead of something to be dealt with. ...

Okay, hi. I had to get that out of the way, whoops. So, basically I haven't written on my blog in

Brazy? ! I Well, YG's creativity really flowed, and his story telling skills were legit. He found a way

blunt, simple, straight forward, and catchy. This really hyped up the album, for me. The album had a
tastefully throwback flavor, which I was fond of. The production was licit (even though there was no
DJ Mustard to be seen) and everything had structure. Catchy flows and good feels were brought to
the table indeed. One word to sum up the album :

Daisies (1966)
Daisies (1966)
A film by Věra Chytilová
An essay by Sámal Jákup Jakobsen
Class: Moving Narratives
Tutor: Helen McGregor
21st of January 2012
Introduction
Chytilová's heroines rebelliously try to subvert the patriarchal system and gender stereotypes–and
fail! That is how Małgorzata Radkiewicz puts the film in a very short description. In the middle of
a very Communist society in Czech Republic the imbalance between male and female roles is vast.
In order to get through to the political realm, Věra Chytilová made Sedmikrásky (Daisies, 1966) that
would show to the public their society from another point of view. When the film came out the
government not only banned the film from being screened in the entire country but ... Show more

Looking at the two girls in Daisies, Weston is struck by how much they remind of Cléo Victoire's
self–absorbed heroine in search of something more.
We see a lot of flowers throughout the film including the crown of flowers, worn by one of the
Maries. With this in mind I can't help thinking of the Hippie revolution in the United States that
affected the whole world. Chytilová might have heard of this and thus tried to fit it with her own
culture.
One of her biggest inspirations must have been her teacher Otakar Vávra who was a film director in
Czechoslovakia. He had students including Milos Forman, Ivan Passer and Jiri Menzel who were all
directors in the Czech New Wave. He has probably encouraged Věra to stand firmly by her own
actions and to say in an interview by Galina Kopaněvová I don't know any action that would not be
risky. This has inspired many filmmakers around the globe and especially female filmmakers.
Technically the film stands out from most other films in the world, which has inspired the world of
cinema.
The technical part of the film
Daisies was made in 1966 with a State–approved script written by Chytilová herself. It is noticeable
that the film is very much about the costumes and design, which is almost inevitable when the
screenplay was co–written by costume designer Ester Krumbachová. Despite its very uniqueness in
the storyline itself, Chytilová thought completely out of the box when it came to

Ruth B 's Popularity Branches From Vine
Ruth B's popularity branches from Vine, a little green app she remembers downloading about four
years back. An ordinary teen, she fiddled about with the app, sharing her various feelings and
playing with social ideas, but additionally discovering several hidden talents. Among those buried
treasures, Ruth encountered a genuine love for music and song, far stronger and more apparent than
in the past. A brief six seconds of improvised lyric about Peter Pan and his band of Lost Boys
positively turned Ruth's life upside down; the world called, waiting and begging for a second line.
The support from fans lead to Ruth writing her first song. From one song branched another until the
release of an album, appropriately titled The Intro, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, numerous times in her roll of tweets, one finds a personal comment from Ruth to a city
she visited for concert or performance. Unlike fans, the city does not respond, but one cannot deny
its noticing her adoration and thanks. She provides days and evenings of entertainment, the area
gives the same in return to a much grander scale. For instance, Ruth B. ‫‏‬

Fall Prevention in Hospitalized Patients Essay
Introduction Falls are a big concern for all employees in a hospital setting daily. The worst thing that
can happen to a patient while being hospitalized is a fall, or a major fall, that could result in skin
damage (i.e. wounds, skin tears, or abrasions), a fracture or break, thus limiting their independence.
This student's goal was to develop a way to educate staff members in ways they can help reduce the
number of falls that occur. Developing a sample Fall Risk Prevention Policy as well as a Staff in–
service on fall risk and Prevention achieved this goal. Field of Work: Prevention of patient falls at

with approximately 1,511 that year (DOH (2), 2008). Anyone can be at risk for a fall due to their

1966 Dbq
From a technological standpoint, the 1966 primary election was in itself revolutionary. For the first
time an IBM computer added up the votes for a large candidate field, twenty counties used the
automated voting system. (TOTTON 537). The Democratic primary revealed the divisiveness of the
Democratic party in California. Brown narrowly won renomination by 140,128 votes. The party had
become vulnerable in the previous election when the party council had been alienated, a debate over
party hierarchy began, and the Democratic mayor of Los Angeles broke with the party by striking a
lethal blow at an incumbent governor. (TOTTEN 537). Party morale dropped and funding lessened

State chairman Gaylord Parkinson took on the task of bringing the Party back together and
reinforced it at all levels on both a local and state level. Parkinson's 11th Commandment, Thou
shalt not speak ill of any Republican, proved useful when implemented. Parkinson took a strategy
out of the 1952 presidential nomination book, by recruiting an attractive candidate with no political
experience, Ronald Reagan (TOTTEN 539). Like Eisenhower in 1952, Reagan was an attractive
conservative who had almost no political experience. The Democratic Party would use this strategy
as well in 2008 with its candidate Barack Obama (MCKENNA). Reagan, the party favorite, ran
against moderate former mayor George Christopher. Christopher fired at Reagan's conservative
leanings and Brown's alleged ineptness. (TOTTEN 539). He aimed at winning votes from both
Democrats and Republicans. Anderson Totton and Eugene Lee contend that the main issue in the
Republican primary was which candidate could unify the party and beat Brown. (539) In his
memoir, Reagan noted that when leaders asked him to run, nothing was said, incidentally, about
whether I would make a good governor or not. They just said I was the only one who could bring the
party together. (REAGAN

  • 3. Integrity of the Game: Life Lessons through Sports When I was four I started playing softball; when I was nine I started playing tennis: and when I was fourteen I started playing volleyball. Up until now I thought these were just ways of my parents getting rid of me for a couple hours a day. Up until now I did not realize that I learned anything more from playing these sports than hitting a homerun, serving a kick serve, or being able to set a ball 20 feet away. Now, I realize that all these sports have taught me some key life lessons. These sports have taught me that mistakes are great, to handle stress, and how to increase positive energy even when things are not going well. They have given me a lifetime of friends, leadership skills and more confidence in what I do. In short, playing a sport has endless benefits. One of the more obvious benefits is better health. This would not be temporary health benefits but life long. It is sad to hear that in the United States alone there has been a growth in childhood obesity. 33% of children and adolescents are obese. By participating in a sport, it helps regulates the calories that are being burned, and it helps one maintain a healthy weight. The Report from the United Nations Inter–Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace states that children and teens, upon playing a sport, increase the development of healthy bones, efficient heart and lung function, and improved motor skills and cognitive function. All skills that are utilized in everyday life. With that, this leads ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In particular: * What are the key issues in the case? * Outline the decision of the court * Evaluate what practical guidelines can be taken from the case by regulated financial services firms Under the proceeds of crimes act 2002 (POCA) all UK financial institutions and other regulated firms not only have to report suspicions of money laundering but they must also seek consent from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) to carry out any transactions which they suspect are related to the proceeds of the crime. SOCA have a maximum of 7 working days with which to respond to any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Court also stated that a claimant would have to demonstrate the bank had acted in bad faith before civil liability would be entertained. In its decision the Court of appeal did make reference to the dual pull on Banks in having to comply with the heavy demands of a regulator whilst mitigating civil actions from potentially disgruntled customers. It also made reference to a previous court case (De Silva v NatWest Bank 2006) where the court made specific reference to the meaning of the word 'suspect'. Here, in relations to the claim by Mr Shah that the reason for the suspicion itself was irrational, negligently self–induced and mistaken, the court confirmed that HSBC merely had to think that there was a possibility, which was more than fanciful, that the relevant facts exist when completing its SAR. On a wider note the Court also deemed that in the future having a suspicion may constitute a good defence for Banks. The subject of tipping off can be one of the most ambiguous subjects within financial organisations. There are clear laws that have financial and punitive repercussions for those who recklessly or mistakenly divulge the suspicions of the firm they are working on behalf of. The court here ruled that the use of the legislation surrounding tipping off cannot be endlessly relied on when declining the request of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morris, Department of Accounting From: Group #2 (Jordan King, Kelsey Darnell, Xiaomeng Liao) Date: 04/04/2013 Subject: ACCTG 642: Case 08–6, The Rump Organization Statement of Relevant Facts The Rump Organization is a commercial real estate company that purchases and constructs commercial property. On the basis of the corporate restructuring plan, Rump's CEO, Ronald Rump, and Rump's board of directors on December 27, 2005 approve a plan to involuntarily terminate 100 of the company's employees. The plan provides for each terminated employee to receive a lump– sum cash payment equal to one month's salary only if the employee voluntarily signs a waiver of any right to legal action against Rump. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A possible solution is that a liability is not recognized at all. A second alternative solution is that the liability would be initially recognized at communication date, December 31, 2005, then adjusted cumulatively over the future service period, December 31, 2005 through the termination date of January 31, 2006. A third alternative solution is that the liability is recognized on the communication date of December 31, 2005. We assume that management would prefer no recognition of a liability; however, if a liability must be recognized management would prefer the liability to be recognized on December 31, 2005, then adjusted as terminated employees sign or do not sign the waivers over the service period. Management would not want to recognize part of the liability in January because this would negatively affect their balance sheet and their current ratio during the first quarter, which could, in turn, affect the company's ability to satisfy contracts or receive loans. In contrast, recognizing the liability at the end of the year would have little to no material impact on the company's ratios or financials since it would be taking into account the entire year versus a few months. The auditors' main concern will be to make certain that the liability is recognized and reported in the proper fiscal year as this liability could be quite large and materially affect financial statements. • 16. The Big Data Imagine being in a room with 10 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand the conversations? It would be hard to concentrate on any one person's conversation, but you could probably do it. Now, imagine being at the Superdome with 70,000 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand any of the conversations? You probably could not understand any one person for a length of time, but again you might pick out some of the words. Well, what if the scenario was 7 billion people speaking 6 thousand languages at an auctioneer's pace on the topic of their personal family lineage; would you be able to create someone's whole family tree? This is the type of scenario that represents the different facets of Big Data. What does it mean to say "big data"? Big Data is more than just massive amounts of data stored together. It is more than just data delivered or analyzed fast. Meta Group's Doug Laney described it as data that has volume, velocity, and variety (2001). This is the 3 V's of Big Data and is widely used to define it. Additions to this definition include other V's, such as veracity and value (XXX). What is volume? Volume could be 7 billion people speaking at once. It can be the data created by millions of Americans uploading photos, buying shoes online, or searching for the definition of Big Data. It is the volume of data being created by researchers at unprecedented amounts to chart the stars, to map the human genome, or to trend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Review Of ' The Crucible ' Kristina Garcia Mrs. Herrera English III December 11, 2016 What is Corruption? Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but in the most simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the struggle between what is right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to corruption, but some say it was religious reasons that led to this malfeasance, meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today's society tend to relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that faction of society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through the political, McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The Crucible takes place in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during what we know as the witch trials. It is based on a group of girls involved in "witch like" activities, who begin to accuse others of committing witchcraft just so that they do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail Williams, and she plots against Elizabeth Proctor who is married to John Proctor, who Abigail had an affair with. Due to these childish and dramatic acts of Abigail and the girls, half the townspeople were taken to trial and found guilty of witchery and worshipping the devil and were sentenced to hang. Not till the end did the townspeople realize their mistake about the accusations, which turned out to be false. Political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The latter, age, is one of the more understated and disregarded issue of diversity. But over time, differences in age in the workplace has been growing more and more, generating conflicts that could not be ignored any longer. The problem of age gaps in the workplace is caused by having multiple generations in one workplace. Most see the age gaps in the workplace as an inherent thing and thus, not something to cope with instead of something to be dealt with. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Daisies (1966) Daisies (1966) A film by Věra Chytilová An essay by Sámal Jákup Jakobsen Class: Moving Narratives Tutor: Helen McGregor 21st of January 2012 Introduction Chytilová's heroines rebelliously try to subvert the patriarchal system and gender stereotypes–and fail! That is how Małgorzata Radkiewicz puts the film in a very short description. In the middle of a very Communist society in Czech Republic the imbalance between male and female roles is vast. In order to get through to the political realm, Věra Chytilová made Sedmikrásky (Daisies, 1966) that would show to the public their society from another point of view. When the film came out the government not only banned the film from being screened in the entire country but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the two girls in Daisies, Weston is struck by how much they remind of Cléo Victoire's self–absorbed heroine in search of something more. We see a lot of flowers throughout the film including the crown of flowers, worn by one of the Maries. With this in mind I can't help thinking of the Hippie revolution in the United States that affected the whole world. Chytilová might have heard of this and thus tried to fit it with her own culture. One of her biggest inspirations must have been her teacher Otakar Vávra who was a film director in Czechoslovakia. He had students including Milos Forman, Ivan Passer and Jiri Menzel who were all directors in the Czech New Wave. He has probably encouraged Věra to stand firmly by her own actions and to say in an interview by Galina Kopaněvová I don't know any action that would not be risky. This has inspired many filmmakers around the globe and especially female filmmakers. Technically the film stands out from most other films in the world, which has inspired the world of cinema.
  • 59. The technical part of the film Daisies was made in 1966 with a State–approved script written by Chytilová herself. It is noticeable that the film is very much about the costumes and design, which is almost inevitable when the screenplay was co–written by costume designer Ester Krumbachová. Despite its very uniqueness in the storyline itself, Chytilová thought completely out of the box when it came to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An ordinary teen, she fiddled about with the app, sharing her various feelings and playing with social ideas, but additionally discovering several hidden talents. A brief six seconds of improvised lyric about Peter Pan and his band of Lost Boys positively turned Ruth's life upside down; the world called, waiting and begging for a second line. The Democratic primary revealed the divisiveness of the Democratic party in California. Brown narrowly won renomination by 140,128 votes. The party had become vulnerable in the previous election when the party council had been alienated, a debate over party hierarchy began, and the Democratic mayor of Los Angeles broke with the party by striking a lethal blow at an incumbent governor. Parkinson took a strategy out of the 1952 presidential nomination book, by recruiting an attractive candidate with no political experience, Ronald Reagan (TOTTEN 539). Like Eisenhower in 1952, Reagan was an attractive conservative who had almost no political experience. The Democratic Party would use this strategy as well in 2008 with its candidate Barack Obama (MCKENNA). Reagan, the party favorite, ran against moderate former mayor George Christopher. Christopher fired at Reagan's conservative leanings and Brown's alleged ineptness. (TOTTEN 539). He aimed at winning votes from both Democrats and Republicans. Anderson Totton and Eugene Lee contend that the main issue in the Republican primary was which candidate could unify the party and beat Brown.
