2. Music Video 1 Drop the Game
Camera: Through out the entire music
video the camera is always moving
while showing and framing the
dancer and setting at different
angles. From the use of this camera
technique it makes the overall video
more exciting and appealing for the
an audience to watch and enjoy.
Secondly the use of shallow focus is
used to make the dancer stand out
more and to show his importance
towards the feeling of the song.
Lighting: The only source of lighting in
this music video by Flum and Chet
Faker is the artificial lighting. Some
examples of the artificial lighting in
this video are street lamps, headlights
from vehicles and light
advertisements. As the video is set a
night the artificial lighting creates a
sense of mystery.
3. Music Video 2 Grenade
Camera: As the narrative of the song is
starting, a range of close up shots are
used on Bruno Mars featuring his eyes,
feet and hands. The reason for these
shots is to only revealing little to the
audience, making the audience wanting
to watch on and see what the frame is
hiding.
Mise en Scene: In the video a range of costumes
are used on different characters to convey their
class and to create stereotypes. A clear example
of this is the street thugs wearing white vets, wear
as Bruno Mars is wearing a suit to convey his high
class.
4. Music Video 3 Breezeblocks
Editing: This entire music video is in a reverse
and also has a slow pace. Temporal extension
is used during the video start to finish to make
the narrative more dramatic. The reason why
the video is in a reverse motion is to reveal to
the story in a different way as the audience
first thinks that the man is the bad guy but by
the video it’s the woman who in the wrong.
Mise en scene: The use of props are used
well in this video to convey violence as the
man and women use them against each
other. I like this use of props because if
there was no props featured in this video
the narrative and video it self would not be
as thrilling and exciting for the audience.
The brick and glass bottle are the weapon
props in this video.
