1. In the movie scream the elements of Mise-en-scene are used
to highlight meaning. For example the setting shows a
community where a house is in the middle of nowhere. This
could foreshadow a turn of bad events in the horror movie.
The props used in the movie consist of knives and costumes
and masks. The producer uses a mask to obscure the villains
face and hide who is behindthe mass killings. The costume of
the murderer is black which could tell us the evil as black is
seen as impure and dangerous in horror movies. The lighting
in the openingscene is quite dark which could tell us the
movie is going to begin with a murder/tragic event. The
colourin the opening scene is quite dole which could
connote there is going to be a main character entering the
scene/frame. The positioningof the characters builds
tension/suspense in the scene as the audienceis on edge as
the positionof the murderer is not know in the frame but the
character is known to be there .
