Yard operation is largely divided into the following aspects:
A. Receiving Export Containers from Gate
B. Receiving Import Containers from Vessel
C. Delivering Import containers
D. Housekeeping of the yard for better yard management
E. Positioning of equipment as required.
F. Escorting the ODC from the Gate to Vessel Point
A. RECEIVING EXPORT CONTAINERS.
The yard planner, in dedicated slots, plans export containers. The factors he depends on are POD,
Weight, Length etc; when the export container arrives at the gate an EIR is printed which will indicate
the yard location.
At the same time Sparcs will add the truck to the road queue and the move will be planned and appear
on the VMT/RDT.
When the container arrives at the yard location, the RTG operator will obtain the Yard location through
his VMT screen after verifying the BAT number written on the truck cabin and Container Number.
The container is off loaded in its designated slot and the move is up dated by RDT/VMT.
The truck proceeds to the out gate and transaction is closed.
Export empty containers are gated-in in following nominations:
1. Empty containers nominated to particular vessel
2. MTY express
3. Buffer MTY
MTY Express and Buffer MTY boxes are stacked according to the Lines. These boxes are loaded on any
vessel services which are pre-approved by lines.
Operation manager decides loading of MTY Express and Buffer MTY boxes considering the Vessel and
Equipment availability. MTY express containers are stacked in CY or 5G.
2. B. RECEIVING IMPORT CONTAINERS FROM VESSEL.
To expedite import delivery process, selected CFS and ACP customer (‘Hindu’ and ‘Saint Gobain’)
import containers are offloaded in designated stacks.
The containers meant for discharge are planned in SPARCS through Equipment control. When
discharging the container, the wharf checker will complete the discharge updation and SPARCS will allot
the yard location for the container. The ITV driver is informed of the yard location, and he will proceed
to the designated yard location. The operator will view his VMT/RDT screen for the location of the
container and the container is off loaded in respective yard location.
Normally we receive the damage lock struck and Lock not removed from the vessel side boxes will arrive
once the RTG operator informs the same will be stacked in the designated yard 2F.
C.DELIVERING IMPORT CONTAINERS
From non-designated CFS & ACP stacks:
When the EIR is generated for delivery of the container, SPARCS will add the move to the road queue
and the delivery will appear on the RDT/VMT screen.
When the RTG operator sees the BAT number and verifies the container number vice versa, he will view
his screen for the container and its location for pick up and deliver the container to the truck. The truck
will proceed to the out gate and the transaction is closed.
RTG operator will view his screen were the list of containers appears as an shifting plan (from position to
designated stack heap) for all designated stacks and deliver the container to the truck. The truck will
proceed to the pump house where the EIR is generated based on the token.
