In a video titled, It’s Time to Boycott the National Anthem (circa 2016),the speaker
mentions how black American football players took a knee during their National Anthem,
and urged his fellow country men and women to do the same.
His reasons were
▪ The tune is melodically terrible, and it sounds like shit
▪ We are young and free, but not for those who are black and in custody
▪ Beneath our southern cross, we toil with our hearts and hands, more like we toil with
hand-cuffs, kicks in the chest and deaths in custody
▪ We have boundless plains to share, let’s not mention the menace in Nauru
Which national anthem are we talking about?

In a move to appease a minority population, the national anthem in this country was
sung in 2 different languages in 2016 for the first time since 1949, the last time this
was followed.
This was repealed in 2020, after a scion of this famous political family came into
power. He was an ex-Lieutenant Colonel for a time in the state army. He also served
as a Secretary to the Ministry of Defence under his brother’s cabinet, during the
bloody civil war in the country which ended towards the end of the first decade of
this century.

Although internationally this country does still follow this national anthem (like at
Olympics etc.), domestically most citizens don’t know the lyrics to it.This is primarily
because the family in ‘permanent’ power, decided to shift importance to some other
songs which keep changing with the changing leaders.
These songs are played loudly every day out of speakers throughout the country to
encourage citizens to carpe diem and get to work, and also remind them of the
wonders of their nation and their leader.
Name the country and why does the leading family hate the actual national anthem?

The national anthem of this country was penned in London, and the citizens swear
that it is too difficult to sing, because of the crazy vocal range required to do it.
This has also been sort of parodied in their own tourism ad, in which an artist, do an
a-ö of everything one needs to know about the country. He ends it by telling that
immigration will need a lot of paper work, so instead just come and visit the country.
