PLOT or STORYLINE
 Short definition: the events that make up a story, particularly: as they
relate to one another in a pattern or in a sequence; as they relate to
each other through cause and effect; how the reader views
the story; or simply by coincidence.
 Source & hyperlink: Google https://www.google.com.ph/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=nxuiVcH-
NIbD8AeNkK_wDA&gws_rd=ssl#q=plot+or+storyline+definition
 In my own words: The flow of the story.
 My example: In a far away, long ago kingdom, Cinderella is living
happily with her mother and father until her mother dies. Cinderella's
father remarries a cold, cruel woman who has two daughters,
Drizella and Anastasia. When the father dies, Cinderella's wicked
stepmother turns her into a virtual servant in her own house.
Meanwhile, across town in the castle, the King determines that his
son the Prince should find a suitable bride and provide him with a
required number of grandchildren. So the King invites every eligible
maiden in the kingdom to a fancy dress ball, where his son will be
able to choose his bride. Cinderella has no suitable party dress for a
ball, but her friends the mice, led by Jaques and Gus, and the birds
lend a hand in making her one, a dress the evil stepsisters
immediately tear apart on the evening of the ball. At this point,
enter the Fairy Godmother, the pumpkin carriage, the royal ball, the
stroke of midnight, the glass slipper, and the rest, as they say, is fairy
tale history.

RISING ACTION
 Short definition: series of related incidents builds
toward the point of greatest interest

 In my own words: rising action of a story is the
series of events that begin immediately after the
introduction of the story and builds up to the
climax.
 My example: The poor treatment of Cinderella, by her
stepmother and stepsisters, the promise that she will be able to
go to the ball, and the work she does to get to go. Then, she
can’t go, but her fairy god mother helps her, and she gets to go
to the ball. She meets the prince, they dance, and they fall, in
love, but Cinderella has to run home leaving her shoe behind.
2
TURNING POINT
 Short definition: a time at which a decisive
change in a situation occurs, especially one
with beneficial results.
 Source & hyperlink: Google
https://www.google.com.ph/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=Ui-
iVe3_GtTC8AfW8LyQCw&gws_rd=ssl#q=turning+point+definition
 In my own words: Turning point is the part where
the antagonist will cursed the protagonist.
 My example: When the stepsisters od Cinderella,
promised her to go to the ball but her
grandmother gave her many tasks to do. But
because of her friends, Cinderella attend to the
ball and danced with the prince. And she left
her shoe at the ball.
3

efinition
 In my own words: it the most interesting and
exciting part
 My example: When the prince comes to
Cinderella’s house, and we don’t know if
Cinderella will be able escape from her room to
try the shoe.
4
FALLING ACTION
 Short definition: the parts of a story after the
climax and before the very end

resolved.
 My example: When Cinderella was able to
escape from her room, try on the shoe, and the
prince knew that Cinderella is the woman from
the ball.
5
RESOLUTION
 Short definition: a firm decision to do or not to
do something.

PLOT ELEMENTS:
Brain Practice

Mr. Jaime Cabrera
CEU Manila, Philippines
I personalize my learning
about the parts of literary
plot by completing this
three-part activity.
Related Stuff
New concepts learned
 What new stuff did you learn when you did
this assignment?
I learn that storyline is very important in
creating stories because it is not applicable
that we first knew the resolution before the
climax and of course it is not possible that
resolution first before exposition.
NEW INPUTS
1
This reminds me of…
 Connect the new stuff you learned to
events in your own life.
All of us conquers problem. But before we
problematize our problems, of course first
we commit mistakes because of the people
who surrounds us, they influencing us good
and bad attitudes until we hated each
other because we can’t fight against them
already but at the end by giving chance to
each other, friendship will still hold us.
CONNECTIONS
2
Usefulness in real situations
 How can you use what you have learned
in some situations in your own life?
First, think what you’ve thinking then
problematize your problem then find out
why you have problem then think of a
solution to your problem then give it action.
APPLICATIONS

SEVEN POINTS
1. Delete the instructions. When you submit
your work, only your answers should be seen.
2. Keep it short: this one slide only
3. Short definition: Use direct quotes inside
quotation marks.
4. Source: Use APA format
5. Hyperlink: Embed like this
Available online 12-12-2015.
6. In my own words: Paraphrase succinctly
7. Example: From your own experience
