3. Why where gods so Important to Egyptians? Most of the Ancient Egyptians where Polytheism, which is the belief in multiple gods. That was the case in Egypt for a very long time they though pretty much everything was controlled by the gods including the sun, earthquake and even floods. 5. AncientEgyptiansCrowns This crown is known as the white crown. Who ever is wearing that crown is known as the king of upper Egypt which stretches from Memphis southwards to Thebes and beyond. Look at the map on the next page it will give you an idea of where the king ruled. Crown 1 If you have ever seen pictures of some gods you might have noticed some of them have a white or red or sometimes both combined colors of crowns. Does this have a special meaning? The answer is Yes every single crown the gods wear represent something. Let me start with the three main ones. Crown 3 This crown is knows as the red crown. Who ever is wearing that crown is known as the king of lower Egypt this is the area from Memphis northwards around the Nile delta. As I said before Look at the map on the next page it will give you an idea of where the king with that crown ruled. Crown 2 Crown 3 As king of both upper and Lower Egypt the Pharaoh wore a double crown made up of the white crown of upper Egypt and the Red crown of Lower Egypt. Did you know Those crowns are also for gods not just kings like Horus who wore the both upper and Lower Egyptian crown.
