2. National IPv6 Master Plan
and target
• Preparation phase (2011 – 2012)
– Raising community awareness and preparing resourses (,
conference, training …).
– Testing.
– ISP, Enterprise build their own IPv6 transition plan (conform
with National plan).
• Starting/pilot phase (2013 – 2015)
– ISPs provide some IPv6 services to a group limited users.
• Implementation phase (2016 - 2019)
– Migrate all network to IPv6.
– Providing IPv6 services for all end users.

- Vietnam IPv6 Launch day: 6th May 2013.
- ISP & Internet Exchange (VNIX)
+ All ISPs have IPv6 peering, transit with upstream: NTT, Singtel, HKIX ...
+ ISP-ISP private peering: not much.
+ 10/18 ISPs have IPv6 connection to VNIX
- Access network:
+ One ISP have pilot IPv6 service: About 90K of IPv6 xDSL users.
+ Others ISP: none.
- DNS service: ccTLD .VN DNS ready; sub-level not much, ~ 30
- Content service:
+ Very few websites, newspaper (~ 70) is IPv6 enable; email (~50).
- Mobile service:
+ 3G: w/o IPv6.
+ 03 Telco: testing have been being done for LTE.
- CPE for fixed network (ADSL, FTTx):
+ 03 local vendors: supported.
- Traffic:
- Very small; DNS query ~ 2%;
- DNS 4A queries: ~ 17.5%
