4. The Problem..
• The logistics process of L&T included shipment of goods from one
place to another through 27 locations in all.
• This incurred a lot of costs to them as location to be shipped did not
come from the nearest location but came from the place where there
was availability.
• L&T retained Accenture for its logistics problem and asked them to
give a solution.
5. The Solution…
• L&T incorporated the problem solution on the lines of J-I-T methodolgy
• Accenture advised L&T to reduce the shipment locations to 4
• One location should be Nagpur as it is at the centre of India which will help
reduce shipment costs and time
• Also, it would be easier to maintain inventory in just 4 locations instead of
27 locations
• This hugely helped L&T to minimize cost of shipment to various locations
and also save time of delivery
