2. Rice Pudding
• Ambrosia Rice Pudding is a good example of the Convenience
Foods people had in the 1960s. Rather than making Rice
Pudding on Milk, it came ready-made. It was quick, easy and
cheap.
• It came in Tins which gave it a good Shelf-Life. This meant it
didn’t go off quickly at all.
• Is Rice Pudding as popular today? It is similar to Muller Rice.
Have you ever tasted it?
4. Milk
• We drink Milk today to keep us Healthy. It contains
much of the Nutrients we need. Milk was given free in
Schools to children to help them to grow.
• In the 1960s, Milk was widely used in Baking
(Custard/Rice Pudding/Bread and Butter Pudding)
• Milk was also used for Butter and Cheese Production.
• It was given to children when they were ill.
• Milk is still very important today.
6. Tayto Crisps
• Tayto were probably one of the first Irish Crisps. Today, many
Irish companies produce Crisps, but Tayto remains most
popular.
• Farmers provided Tayto with the Potatoes for their Crisps and
Tayto was a steady customer for many farmers.
• Originally Tayto came loose in Tins or “Crisp Boxes” like you
examined when we were looking at Treats. How have things
changed since then?
