2. The role of technology in the lives of contemporary students As technology advances, the significance of its role in the education of contemporary students increases. Technology is used as: -a teaching aid-a means of communication-a method of representation of student achievement of learning outcomes.
3. What is a 21st Century Learner? As featured in ‘A Vision of K-12 Students Today’, contemporary students are seen as 21st Century Learners. They are technologically savvy and are expected to be able to use technology to CREATE, CONSUME, RE-MIX and SHARE INFORMATION with each other. There are a number of new-age devices which assist in student learning such as:-computers, ipods, ipads, and mobile phones
4. How does ‘A Vision of K-12 Students Today’ support student learning This technological artefact highlights technology as the way of the future for education. Teachers can use this video to demonstrate the importance of technology to the lives of students. The video does not directly relate to the PDHPE syllabus, however it does recommend using technology in schooling to prepare students for the needs of the modern workforce.
5. Forbidden This technological artefact greatly connects with student learning through Strand 1: Self & Relationships of the PDHPE syllabus, where students learn about power in relationships and methods of communication. This video can be used as a teaching resource for Outcome 4.2 and 4.3 which focuses on teaching students about the various filmmaking techniques which feature throughout the film
6. Filmmaking Techniques A major benefit of ‘Forbidden’ is being able to recognise the filmmaking techniques used, in particular how the narrative is skilfully conveyed through the use of various camera shots and a well written script. PDHPE teachers can recommend their students refer to ‘Forbidden’ when creating their own film
