Censorship In Classroom
The Constitution of United States grants an American the right of free speech and expression which they often take for granted. Yet, the people who
are educating others about those rights are rejected from utilizing those very same rights. Teachers in the U.S are being denied their First Amendment
right to freedom of speech by limiting how they may express their views on educating students, restraining of what they can put on blogs or letters,
and limits on how they might use social media. Teachers have their own opinions about how a classroom should be taught, either by giving a lecture, a
hands on activity or connecting a material with the real world. Also, there are some teachers who use controversial techniques to teach a material in the
classroom, which usually ends up showing disapproval from the society. One teacher whose action was criticized by the community was a high school
teacher in Fayetteville, North Carolina after he stepped on the U.S. flag during his lecture on free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Rise Of Pop Art
In the 1940s the United States and the allies were in the midst of a deadly war against their Nazi–German counterparts, World War II officially ended
in 1945 and the Allies were victorious. In the early 1950s the post–war economic boom in both the United States of America and Great Britain, gave the
people optimism and money to spend as the super markets were filled with all kinds of consumer goods . The economy was good and people were
happy.
Capitalizing on the post–war economic boom of the 1950s were advertisers. Advertising persuaded many, it told people what was popular, what was
good, and what to buy. Advertising and glossy magazines were found everywhere, in the street, the highway, and even at the comfort of your own house
as you opened the newspaper. This mass marketing phenomenon was incorporated with the rise ofPop Art. It paved the way for iconic artist such as
Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns .
With the rise of this bona fide American phenomenon also brought critics. Critics asked and wondered how a can of soup or a soft drink could be
considered art. Pop artist, Andy Warhol responded by stating, "Art is what you can get away with." What made pop art popular? It was brash, transient,
witty, hostile, young, mass produced, and most importantly it was low–cost .
Pop art was the new art movement of the 1950s and 1960s, it was the successor of the art movement of a decade earlier. In the 1940s abstract
expressionism was all the rage in the United States, it was

Legal Issues Always Be A Problem
Legal issues always seem to be a problem when it comes to dealing with the government and its investments. Trusting the government to do the right
thing with the tax payers money is a viable concern for all of the citizens of the United States of America. To garner that trust the government began
pushing for ways to lower every day energy cost, such as the use of solar energy. The Solyndra issue is just one example of the incompetence and
strong arm attempts that the government imposes which typically lead to legal ramifications. Furthermore, in the case of Solyndra, it was not a
democrat or a republican issue. This issue lied in the hands of both political parties. Considering the importance that the government placed on green
energy and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Solyndra is a company that was founded by Christian Gronet in 2005 which specialized in the creation of solar panels to help minimize the overall
energy cost of the United States. It was founded on the perception that lightweight, high–efficiency thin–film solar panels in a unique tubular design
could compete with other companies that use silicon–based flat panels. Solyndra was able to win over the likes of some of the most powerful people in
the United States such as the Walton Family and George Kaiser. Considering the political backing the company was able to attain and the direction
in which the country was heading when it came to conserving energy, Solyndra seemed like a poster child (of sorts) for the United States
government. Furthermore, Solyndra was also supposed to be used as one of President Obama's "good news" stories when it came to his plan to
create more jobs in the United States. According to Antle (2012), "Solyndra received a $573 million loan guarantee from the federal government. It
was considered the first major "public investment" of its type in alternative energy by the Obama administration" (Antle, 2012). Unfortunately,
Solyndra went bankrupt in September 2011 and laid off all of its employee's, setting the stage for a legal showdown of epic proportions.
Days after Solyndra filed for bankruptcy the Federal Bureau of Investigations raided the headquarters of Solyndra and the homes of many of its senior
executives.

American Dream Defect Advertising
Everything changed on August 1963. Most of America was intrigued by the famous speech "I Have a Dream" delivered by Martin Luther King, Jr.
People from all over the nation gathered to advocate for social justice. With that, citizens of the United States yearned hope for a future full of
up–roaring opportunities for everyone disregarding their ethnic background, gender, sexual preference, or economic standing. Such historical event was
inspired by the "American dream". Throughout time the "American dream" has shifted from a reason to have hope to a nationwide aspiration for a
distinguished social position and a plethora of belongings. Advertising agencies play a key role in the fabrication and continuation of the modern

As Schroeder and Zwick assert, "consumer culture "depends on the continual creation and proliferation of 'defect'" (46). 'Defect' refers to the mentality
that Americans often feel the need to purchase goods, even though they know that they will never satisfy their never–ending desires. That is to say, if
advertising agencies opted to discontinue the promulgation of the "American dream" the consumer would no longer feel the incessant need to purchase
goods. This can be attributed to the belief that the "American dream" constitutes of having a plethora of material belongings. Consequently,
manufacturing companies would have to face a significant loss in revenues. As depicted by the campaign ad for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential
election, whether it is to increase revenues or to gain votes ads frequently make use of the "American dream." The "American dream" is highly
appealing to American consumers because of the strong sense of nationalism in the United States. Consider how the poster illustrates the nation's leader
in a suit and tie. In America's contemporary consumer society a suit and tie indicate wealth and status. Propaganda like Obama's campaign poster helps

Exploratory Essay On Hope
Exploratory Essay 2: Situating This exploratory essay will analyze Shepard Fairey's 2008 poster, Hope, depicting Barack Obama's image, as it speaks
to its significance as a cultural text. The poster is highlighting Obama in a seventy–five percent profile while wearing a suit. The image is delineated on
an exceedingly basic shading plan. The overwhelming colors are red, white, and blue, the shades of the American flag. Therefore, this essay will focus
on the image utilizing semiotic analysis to consider how this iconic poster turned into the notable signifier for Obama's campaign and how it turned
into a cultural text. During the 2008 campaign, this writer can still remember how excited he felt. It was quite riveting, to say the least. We were... Show

Furthermore, for people of color, underrepresented, and marginalized communities one can argue that the poster would remind them of prosperity.
Something worth mentioning is that Crave indicates, "The fame of the Shepard Fairey poster which originated as a mixed–media stencilled collage in
acrylic but has been widely circulated as a glossy offset poster – is easy to understand even at first glance" (644). This is how countless others and I
felt when we laid our eyes on this cultural text. Craven goes to further state Hope was "Taken from a pedestrian Associated Press (AP) wire service
photograph in 2006 by a journalist named Mannie Garcia, who shows Obama in front of an American flag, the image by Shepard Fairey is far more
visionary, much more nuanced" (644). The evidence suggests that Hope was not Fairey's original work, he had used Garcia's photograph and decided
to pawn it off as his own creation. Nevertheless, "It is from that deft transformation of the photo that the poster garners much of its ideological
resonance" (Craven 644). Although the iconic cultural text, some could argue was plagiarized, Fairey has cemented his legacy with his creation of this
poster. Perhaps forms differ as the subsequent quote from Levine

The Associated Press (AP) is an American news agency that was established in 1846 by five daily newspapers from New York City. They
established the cooperation in order to deliver news about the Mexican War faster than the U.S. Post Office could. The known founder was Moses

From the establishments of the company and forward it has been these people who have been traveling all over the world, risking their lives in order
to gather the breaking news that AP is so famous for. These men and woman are the reason that AP has been able to be the first to deliver the breaking
news from many of the most important historical events happening to mankind. From the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the assassination of Abraham
Lincoln to the death of Pope John Paul II and the fall of the shah of Iran the Associated Press's reporters has been there to break the news before anyone
else. The Associated Press has won 49 Pulitzer Prizes in both writing and photography which gives another great example of what an amazing strength
their reporters are to the company. The trustworthiness among these reporters and photographers are once again proven.
When discussing human capital there is another branch that is contributing to the strengths of the company and that are the people that deal with the
corporate part of the company. Even if the reporters and photographers are doing an amazing job creating a brand image for the company it could not
be one without the people running it. One example is the people in the Research and Development department who are always ahead of their time
creating new and innovative ideas for the company. One example of this is the Stylebook a guidebook for journalists, reporters, and photographers all

The Associated Press Vs Fairey Summary
Copyright Report
Copyright is the right to stop other people from copying, publishing or adapting a creatives work without his/her permission. If one were to do so
they must attribute and acknowledge the owner as a reference. Copyright owners also have ownership of moral rights; this is so that people can not
use a piece of work in a way that the owner does not support or believe in such as political or religious means. Many artists run into troubles when
debating about at what point os an original work sufficiently transformed enough to not be an infringement of copyright. This issue became apparent an

Appropriation: Yasumasa Morimura And Kehinde Wiley
Appropriation has been described as reinterpretation, stealing, quoting, translating, recycling, borrowing and even emulation. This cultural phenomenon
has become a significant part of the history of visual arts. It is the act of making use of a pre–existing image or object without any authority or legal
right. A number of contemporary artists, ranging from pop artists to figurative painters have used appropriation to fit their various styles. Some use
appropriation to clearly draw a parallel between their work and the piece they are appropriating. Other's use it as a reference or jumping off point
paying little homage to the original image. However, the execution and reception of appropriation art is incredibly integral. An artist must... Show more

Morimura chooses an image and then begins an elaborate process to set up the photograph. He paints the set pieces and makes props and costumes
in order to correctly copy the original work. Morimura goes as far as even trying to act like the subject in the work to accurately potray them. Often
the subject in the original is of a female and deals with issues such as sexuality. By placing his own asian body within the work he challenges the
western notion of the east as feminine. The work however, is multi–faceted, and is not only a social critique of the Western canon but is deeply
personal, for it deals with his identity as a male asian artist in a post–colonial era. When Morimura assumes the role of a woman he is fitting into the
stereotype created for him by the West, that the East is feminine. When the viewer sees the work they are taken aback at finding a familiar piece of
art adapted to fit an identifiable male nude reclining in the place of a woman. Gregory Williams, an onlooker unto one of Morimura's pieces said,
"When standing before Portrait (Futago), his rendition of Manet's Olympia, for example, one experiences a double jolt of recognition.... [O]n one hand
an old friend materializes ... in an unexpected place... on the other, the artist becomes a familiar face as he usurps the position of the nude Olympia." It
is important to Morimura that the

Barack Obama 's Election For Immigration Reform
Not So "Hope"–ful
In a 2008 debate, now–President Barack Obama proclaimed, "We are a nation of laws and we are a nation of immigrants, and we can reconcile those
two things," (CNN, 2008). The hype surrounding Obama's first term election included "hope" for immigration reform–an important platform of his
campaign. In 2012, Obama's re–election was partially attributed to an increase in support from the Latino demographic. The Latino vote helped Obama
win key states and compromised 10% of the electorate–the highest ever recorded (Lopez & Taylor, 2012). With less than a year for Obama left in office,
immigration legislation is struggling. Despite bi–partisan efforts, the future for comprehensive immigration policy is bleak. The Border Security,
Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S.744) made great strides towards comprehensive reform in 2013. The arduous passage
of S.744 was a victory for immigration reform but its subsequent failure in the House of Representatives is symbolic of an over–arching problem
facing immigration reform policy in the United States.
Proposed Legislation
First proposed on a federal level in the U.S. Senate by Democrat Chuck Schumer on April 16th, 2013. The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and
Immigration Modernization Act (S.744) garnered bi–partisan support by appealing to both conservative and liberal ideology. The "Gang of Eight"

Rhetorical Analysis Of Barrack Obama's Met Barack Obama
July 27, 2004, was the night America met Barack Obama. This was the night that Obama, a member of the Illinois Senate at the time, spoke as the
keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention. Obama is widely known for his and grand speeches that bring tears of hope and joy to
many Americans eyes. To be able to produce such strong emotions, a speaker must put forth a speech that has all aspects of The Rhetoric, Ethos,
pathos, logos, and the five canons, as a well as use another theory called Narrative Paradigm to register with the audience. Barrack Obama's 2004
DNC speech become widely successful as it created hope and national unity throughout Americas with the help of Obama's use of The Rhetoric
and Narrative Paradigm Theory. The Rhetoric is a theory created by Aristotle; can be defined by Aristotle himself as "an ability, in each particular
case, to see the available means of persuasion". This theory holds three proofs to its name, ethos, pathos, and logos. The key to a successful
speech is holding all three of these proofs in the work. Ethos is the character and credibility that the speaker holds. Pathos is what kind of
emotional connection the speaker makes with the audience. And Logos is how clear and rational the speaker's argument is (Wenzel, 2017).
Obama has all three proofs represented in his speech. Obama's Ethos or his credibility comes from the fact that he was chosen as the keynote
speaker at the DNC. While at the time he was a not widely known politician, the fact that he was picked by presidential nominee, John Kerry. The
way Obama carries himself with pride and confidence; leading the audience to believe that he truly is just that. If Obama made this same exact
speech on the street people would not give him one minuet of their time but because the DNC is a huge event held for the presidential elections, that
automatically gives him creditability. Obama uses pathos by telling the story of his parents growing up. He tells the audience about how his father
grew up in rural Kenya, herding goats, and eventually worked his way to a scholarship "in a magical place: America" (Obama, 2004). He goes on to
tell the story of his mother and how she grew up in America with a military father and a

In This Chapter, We Will Address the Following Questions
1. Why is marketing important? 2. What is the scope of marketing? 3. What are some core marketing concepts? 4. How has marketing management
changed in recent years? 5. What are the tasks necessary for successful marketing management?
One of the key factors in Barack Obama's victory in the 2008 U.S. presidential election was a well–designed and well–executed marketing program.

By contributing to the bottom line, successful marketing also allows firms to more fully engage in socially responsible activities.2 CEOs recognize the
role of marketing in building strong brands and a loyal customer base, intangible assets that contribute heavily to the value of a firm. Consumer goods
makers, health care insurers, nonprofit organizations, and industrial product manufacturers all trumpet their latest marketing achievements. Many now
have a chief marketing officer (CMO) to put marketing on a more equal footing with other C–level executives such as the chief financial officer (CFO)
or chief information officer (CIO).3 Making the right marketing decisions isn't always easy. One survey of more than a thousand senior marketing and
sales executives revealed that although 83 percent felt that marketing and sales capabilities were a top priority for their organization's success, in
rating their actual marketing effectiveness, only 6 percent felt that they were doing an "extremely good" job.4 Marketers must decide what features to
design into a new product or service, what prices to set, where to sell products or offer services, and how much to spend on advertising, sales, the
Internet, or mobile marketing. They must make those decisions in an Internet–fueled environment where consumers, competition, technology, and
economic forces change rapidly, and the consequences of the marketer's words and actions can quickly multiply.

Nicholas Stoller's Neighbors
When I got the invite to see Nicholas Stoller's work–in–progress comedy "Neighbors" back in February, I didn't know what to expect. Of course, I
knew it was going to be raunchy but my main concern was whether the film would be actually funny. Seth Rogen's particular brand of comedy has been
largely hit–or–miss with me as there are times where I've found him too abrasive (like in 2011's ill–advised reimagining of venerable radio serial
crime–fighter the Green Hornet) but when he's in a role that plays to his strengths, he can be absolutely hilarious. Despite my mixed feelings on
Rogen, the biggest wildcard in "Neighbors" was Zac Efron. Women–specifically teenage girls–may go crazy over his baby blue eyes and perfectly
formed pecs and abs but as an actor, he's been less than impressive. With only the poster as my frame of reference, I went into the screening of
"Neighbors" and came out ninety minutes later in pain...because I was laughing so hard! In fact, I enjoyed Stoller's film so much that I recently saw it
a second time in its completed form, although the only things that were missing in the work–in–progress version was some post–production effects and
the end credits. We're barely two weeks into the summer movie season and already we have a strong contender for bestcomedy of 2014.

2012 Presidential Campaign Ad Analysis
The purpose of all ads, regardless of their content is to sell something to the reader. Whether it is a billboard for a Hollywood blockbuster, or an
antismoking ad on the back of a buss, they both are meant to make the reader want to buy a product or an idea. In the cause of the billboard the
product is a ticket to the movie, while the item being sold by the antismoking ad is the idea that smoking is unhealthy. Political ads are no different;
they are also created to sell a product or an idea. Their product is the candidate they want to win, while the idea is that candidate is the right choice or
his opponent is the wrong choice. This is most noticeable during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The ad on the right only has one word and a picture of Obama in red and blue which remind people of other great political posters of the past and is
a step away from the ads of the present. These words are meaningless and do not say anything about his policies, ideology or plans for the future of
the nation, yet these ads were very popular and may have persuaded undecided voters who were tired of the political party in power at the time.
Political ads are not meant for people informed about the political landscape and key issues of the time. Instead they are targeted to the uniformed
and undecided masses. Ads are pasted on billboards and shown during commercials, using phrases the candidate said in the past or simple words
they want the candidate to be associated with such as "hope" or "change." These ads may be the only resource an uniformed voter uses to learn
about a candidate's history and policies. Therefore the ad creators craft ads to be simple and to sway favor for their candidate or to detract voters from
his opponent. The ads effectiveness varies from person to person depending on how much the person believes the

Street Art: The Accessibility Of Street Art
One interesting thing about street art is that even with the negative connotations of illegal tagging and painting on public property, there's still a huge
market for public art. However, some artists do not want to be paid because they think street art is supposed to be a more free way to create art, and
being paid for it would be "selling out". While graffiti just used to be created in order to be known, both modern graffiti and street art has become a way
for artists to break out of the conventional art world. The accessibility of street art often prompts artist to use it as a way to influence the viewer, and

one hand, he only thinks that anything he says about Banksy will be taken out of context and he will be the one under fire (Battersby). However,
he does think that Banksy helps to call attention to street art, saying "'It is important that people recognize what we do, and accept it for what it
is," he states. "It is art. Urban artists are forced to write on public property because there is a lack of space assigned to us'" (Philby), which goes
back to the idea of gallery space being both too restrictive and too selective for street artists. One of the more recent pieces Blek le Rat created was
on the topic of homelessness. He made his signature black and white stencils of homeless people sitting and lying on the ground. The idea was to
call attention to the homeless people living in cities that people see every day and disregard. It's an ironic subject, as the popularity of street art
makes le Rat's art a hot topic, but homeless people are not a popular subject at all. "...people will walk directly over actual homeless people, but will
stop to discuss a painting of a homeless person on a wall" (Stencil

Art And Social Change In Public Art Analysis
In the past decades there has been a broadened movement towards political and social change throughout the world, in particular the United States.
Tensions between those who want to keep the statues quo and those who want political and social change have been on the rise. Some Contemporary
artists through their artwork have been trying to help progress or show the political and social progression that has occurred through public imagery.
Some of these works produced bring awareness to social and political issues and others may just change the perspective on what is thought about them.

Difference Between Minimalism And Pop Art
Pop Art vs Minimalism
"As soon as you stop wanting something, you get it." –Andy Warhol, The Philosophy of Andy Warhol
"It is what it is, and it ain't nothin' else.. everything is clearly, openly, plainly delivered."–Dan Flavin
Anabel Rodriguez
There were two major art movements during the 1960's: Pop Art and Minimalism. The two movements are still relevant and influentiantial now in the
21st century. These two art movements do not meet the standard of arts original idea. Pop art represents popular culture, comic books, advertising and
television. Pop art movement appeared in the mid 1950's. It challenged traditional art, it is loud and aggressive, filled with vibrant colors. Once you are
familiar with a some Pop art paintings, its unique style is easy to distinguish among the rest. It represented more everyday life than anything.
Minimalism and Pop art can be very similar but yet have countless differences that vary from artist to artist. Minimalism isolates the material and blurs
out any emotional content and personal expressivity. Minimalism reduces everything to its essential elements. The events that occurred during these
movements, such as the Civil rights and the Vietnam War influenced artist to try to challenge other type of art forms and go beyond just "fine art".
Let us begin with Pop art and of the most famous pop

The American Two Party System
The American two–party system is the result of the way elections are structured in the United States. Representatives in the Congress and in state
legislatures are elected to in single–member districts where the individual with the most votes wins. Seeing that only one party 's candidate can win in
each district, there is a strong motivation for political candidates to organize themselves into two competing parties. By doing so, party members and
candidates maximize their chances of winning elections. In some countries where there are multi–member districts, parties that win smaller percentages
of the vote can often win legislative representation. Consequently, in such systems, there is an incentive to form smaller third parties. Other features of
the American system of elections, such as campaign finance rules, the Electoral College, and rules giving party candidates ballot access further
reinforce the two–party system in the United States. While third parties rarely win major elections, and never the presidency, they have been successful
in changing the outcome of elections by withdrawing political support away from one of the two major party candidates. Whatever American system
contains to encourage a two party system typically discourages the emergence of third parties. Ever since third parties have emerged in American
political history, their successes have been short–lived. Most third parties try to build their support to become like one of the dominant parties, just

Expectations for Student Behavior: Describe how your students will be intellectually engaged. How will you communicate expectations for them?
How will you follow up on behavior expectations and how well you are engaging learners?
Students will be intellectually engaged through the prompts that are given to create their complete sentences about being president of the U.S. This
also allows students to really think about what they could do if they were the president and allows room for brainstorming and the imagination.
They will also work together with their peers to identify two facts about each of the two presidents we are learning about. I will then provide further
information on the two presidents by having students listen to the facts. I will communicate expectations by verbally telling students what they will
be doing and the instructions of the lesson activity. I will follow up on behavior expectations by having students who are being disrespectful or not
listening to take a break or to sit next to me at the table. After the student is ready to learn, they will be allowed to come back to the table with the

Remix culture refers to a society that encourages the recreation of copyright works and images, into a new creative work. As appropriation, graffiti and
sampling have become more evident within the Post–Modern movement, remix culture is often most associated with this era.
Martha Rosler's Photo Op is a reworked photomontage coming from her series, House Beautiful: Bringing the War Home: New Series from 2004. She
recycles images from different contexts, like advertisements, newspapers and home magazines and combines them creating a new meaning for the

Congressional District : Democratic And State Level
Introduction
The 2014 Congressional race saw the struggle of Democrats and Republicans to gain power of the two institutions as per usual. On a federal and state
level, the power fight was apparent, with a number of close races. One of them was in California's rural 21st Congressional District between
Republican incumbent David Valadao who had been in office since 2012 and Democrat and newcomer Amanda Rentira. The district was won by
President Barack Obama by 11.1 percent in 2012 and 6 percent in 2008, so the Democrats saw hope and potential for Rentira. The 21st Congressional
District is considered competitive because of its voter registration numbers. Democrats hold a 17–percentage–point registration ... Show more content

PLIR 3400 US Foreign Policy: Constructivist and Realist Accounts of US–Cuba Rapprochement
Introduction
Several interpretations can be made of the announcement by President Barack Obama on December 17, 2014 that the United States would reestablish its
long severed diplomatic relations with the Caribbean island nation of Cuba. Obama's momentous reversal of five decades of animosity and intense
hostility between the two countries not only brings to mind the opening of China by President Richard Nixon in 1972, but will also be remembered as
equally significant, as well. The main justification for Obama's policy shift ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It must be noted that the America's security interests in the Caribbean include maintaining friendly states. The realist theory of international relations
shows that the new policy takes care of America's national security interests because it is only through reconsidering its relations with Cuba can the
United States truly keep its southern border free of any hostile military power. Nevertheless, beyond the rhetoric, the United States can only hope that
the Caribbean and Latin America will contribute to its efforts to encourage Cuba to democratize its governance and modernize its economy. Mexico,
Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Peru are the potential partners in this regard. From the foregoing, it should be apparent that the resumption of
diplomatic relations with Cuba is for the most part informed by the need to protect America's interests, confirming the realist assumption that the state
serves as the rational sovereign actor in pursuing its self–interest with the goal of ensuring its security and

Osama Bin Laden Influence
In response to growing Western influence in the Middle East, Osama bin Laden formed al–Qaeda, a global militant Sunni Islamist Organization, in
1988. The terrorist activities of this group resulted in the creation of America's Operation Neptune Spear which successfully led to his capture and
death in 2011. Osama bin Laden was born on March 10, 1957 to Mohammed bin Laden and Hamida Ghanem. His father was a Saudi millionaire,
however, his mother was only a slave to the bin Laden family when Osama was born. In 1962, Saudi Arabia banned all forms of slavery, enabling
Osama to become more part of the bin Laden family. In addition, as more U.S. troops began to occupy countries in the Middle East, extremists like
bin Laden were infuriated and declared a jihad, or holy war, on the United States. After al–Qaeda was formed and initiated a number of terror attacks
against Americans, including the 9/11 acts, the United States launched an operation to eliminate their number one enemy (PBS, 1).
In short, there are two major events that led to Osama bin Laden's terrorist views: the death of his father in 1967, when he was only ten years old. This
event brought Osama bin Laden closer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After al–Qaeda was formed and the initiation of the 9/11 plans and attacks, bin Laden set an undeniable manhunt upon himself. Despite the
warnings, 9/11 was a very unexpected terrorist attack considering that the United States hadn't been attacked on its land in more than half a century.
They hadn't seen any blood spilled during war on their own soil since 136 years earlier. It was almost impossible for the United States to be
prepared for this attack because it had a very peaceful history overall within its borders for the years leading up to the attacks. However, the U.S.
responded correctly, and less than ten years later Navy SEALS captured the man who took thousands of lives, in Operation Neptune

Comparing Nord Express And Hope
The two designs I am comparing are 'Nord Express' by Cassandre and 'Hope ' by Shepard Fairey. 'Nord Express' was produced in 1927 and 'Hope' was
produced in 2008.
The function of 'Nord Express' is to promote a railway company and the function of 'Hope' is to promote Barack Obama as a Presidential candidate. The
purpose of 'Nord Express' was to get people to come and use the company's railway line more often and the purpose of 'Hope' was to make people want
to vote for Barack Obama as their next president.
In 'Nord Express' we see: a black, shiny, metallic railway train with steam coming out from the front of the train; some cable lines on the right 1/3 of
the graphic design; the words 'Nord Express' in capitals on the top centre of the poster; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cassandre has used tone and contrast between black and white to create a shiny, metallic and modern look to the train, which makes people want to
use it more as it looks new and attractive. He used simple shaped and lines to add small amounts of simplified detail. The train has been arranged in
an exaggerated way that makes it look like it's travelling at high speeds to the horizon point on the right bottom side of the graphic design. The sky has
been interpreted with the use of black–to–blue–to–white gradients. The gradients are flipped around so that they aren't fading in the same direction as
the cable line's gradient, so it makes that image stand out more and not blend in with the background. The lettering of 'Nord Express' has been
coloured in a way that if any of the background's white tones/colours were to overlap/merge with the text, the overlapped areas have then been
coloured red. Tonal gradients have been used to make the train's shapes more spherical/rounded and to create a shiny/metallic look to the train which
was to make the train look modern, sleek, fast and new. Cassandre has made the view point very low so that we would look up at the train, which
exaggerates the

Analysis Of George Orwell 's ' 1984 '
In today's digital age, almost all aspects of life can be completed using a computer. Business meetings over video chat, homework, shopping, and even
spending one's free time are often done online nowadays. With how quickly news can travel now, any person who wants to, can be informed with the
latest up–to–date information. Friends can reconnect instantly, and someone can find the answers he or she is searching for in mere seconds. This
all seems to be a great set up; however, with everyone putting so much information onto the internet, it becomes simple for the government, for
example, to monitor their lives. Most people would probably not be in favor of being watched, even if it is for the greater good, as they might feel
some of their rights are being violated. As technology and surveillance are increasing, the idea of Big Brother from George Orwell's novel 1984
being equivalent to the American government is expanding, and as long as American society continues to let it happen, it could one day mimic
Orwell's classic book. Technology is constantly changing and adapting in today's world, and just in the last thirty years alone, there has been a total
overhaul in how people communicate with one another. Email was invented by a fourteen year old boy from New Jersey, and it was officially
copyrighted in 1982 (Time). A way to talk exponentially quicker than by letter was finally introduced and is still used today. As cell phones became

Taking a Look at Street Art
We see their art everywhere we go. On billboards, painted over some expensive advertising or a blank canvas big enough for the entire world to
admire. On buildings, where some tenants don't care, but the ones who take pride in their surroundings want something done about it. On vehicles,
like moving trucks and abandoned cars. They want you to see their art in motion. On sidewalks, under or on the side of bridges and freeways. To
some, it's vandalism, to others, it tells a story and lets the artist express themselves. It's street art and it's everywhere we turn. Some have enough time to
finish their work. Others run in haste to avoid being caught by the law and having to live the rest of their lives behind bars.
Street art did not start with paint on walls, cars and on the side of buildings. In fact, artists like Da Vinci and Monet started on the street and, later,
became household names. Street artist and their art came onto the scene in North America, in the 1960s, and has spread throughout the world (Shacter,
Pg. 15). It's seen in Japan, China, Germany, Israel, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, to name a few. It is interesting that North America started an interesting, often
shunned, movement that started as an individual being against something or being bored, to being one of the not amazing art out there. The places that
people choose to express themselves is sometimes remarkable. Often times, passersby will look up in amazement and wonder. Taking pictures to

The Identity And Street Art
Identity and Street Art
Michaila Forte
"An empty wall is an empty population" – Anonymous
Abstract
Street art emphasizes communal engagement, public activism, and awareness all while being an integrated part of a city. Social media is one of the
most important tools to connect people in our lives, especially in today's youth culture. Our group is interested in investigating the relationship between
identity and media. We are approaching this question in three main ways: street art, gentrification, and social media posts. One of the main points of
both social media and street art is broadcasting a message to a larger audience. We want to analyze these messages, the artists, and the audience to see
what they reveal about overall identity in Berlin. I am specifically focusing on the role of the identity of the artist and what that brings to the
understanding of art. YiShi is comparing and contrasting minority communities and gentrification to see what that reveals about the overall Berlin
identity. Finally, Emerson is analyzing cultural identity, which he defined as part of the "self
–conception and self–perception nationality to ethnicity,
religion, social class, generation, locality and any kind of social group that has its own distinct culture" (Deshmukh 600) and applying it as a
comparative look between America and Germany. All three of our specific topics are prominently cemented by the concept of identity through the lens
of art and expression. Although all of

Censorship In Classroom

  • 1. Censorship In Classroom The Constitution of United States grants an American the right of free speech and expression which they often take for granted. Yet, the people who are educating others about those rights are rejected from utilizing those very same rights. Teachers in the U.S are being denied their First Amendment right to freedom of speech by limiting how they may express their views on educating students, restraining of what they can put on blogs or letters, and limits on how they might use social media. Teachers have their own opinions about how a classroom should be taught, either by giving a lecture, a hands on activity or connecting a material with the real world. Also, there are some teachers who use controversial techniques to teach a material in the classroom, which usually ends up showing disapproval from the society. One teacher whose action was criticized by the community was a high school teacher in Fayetteville, North Carolina after he stepped on the U.S. flag during his lecture on free ... • 2. The Rise Of Pop Art In the 1940s the United States and the allies were in the midst of a deadly war against their Nazi–German counterparts, World War II officially ended in 1945 and the Allies were victorious. In the early 1950s the post–war economic boom in both the United States of America and Great Britain, gave the people optimism and money to spend as the super markets were filled with all kinds of consumer goods . The economy was good and people were happy. Capitalizing on the post–war economic boom of the 1950s were advertisers. Advertising persuaded many, it told people what was popular, what was good, and what to buy. Advertising and glossy magazines were found everywhere, in the street, the highway, and even at the comfort of your own house as you opened the newspaper. This mass marketing phenomenon was incorporated with the rise ofPop Art. It paved the way for iconic artist such as Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns . With the rise of this bona fide American phenomenon also brought critics. Critics asked and wondered how a can of soup or a soft drink could be considered art. Pop artist, Andy Warhol responded by stating, "Art is what you can get away with." What made pop art popular? It was brash, transient, witty, hostile, young, mass produced, and most importantly it was low–cost . Pop art was the new art movement of the 1950s and 1960s, it was the successor of the art movement of a decade earlier. • 3. Legal Issues Always Be A Problem Legal issues always seem to be a problem when it comes to dealing with the government and its investments. Trusting the government to do the right thing with the tax payers money is a viable concern for all of the citizens of the United States of America. To garner that trust the government began pushing for ways to lower every day energy cost, such as the use of solar energy. The Solyndra issue is just one example of the incompetence and strong arm attempts that the government imposes which typically lead to legal ramifications. Furthermore, in the case of Solyndra, it was not a democrat or a republican issue. This issue lied in the hands of both political parties. Considering the importance that the government placed on green energy and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solyndra is a company that was founded by Christian Gronet in 2005 which specialized in the creation of solar panels to help minimize the overall energy cost of the United States. It was founded on the perception that lightweight, high–efficiency thin–film solar panels in a unique tubular design could compete with other companies that use silicon–based flat panels. Solyndra was able to win over the likes of some of the most powerful people in the United States such as the Walton Family and George Kaiser. Considering the political backing the company was able to attain and the direction in which the country was heading when it came to conserving energy, Solyndra seemed like a poster child (of sorts) for the United States government. Furthermore, Solyndra was also supposed to be used as one of President Obama's "good news" stories when it came to his plan to create more jobs in the United States. According to Antle (2012), "Solyndra received a $573 million loan guarantee from the federal government. It was considered the first major "public investment" of its type in alternative energy by the Obama administration" (Antle, 2012). Unfortunately, Solyndra went bankrupt in September 2011 and laid off all of its employee's, setting the stage for a legal showdown of epic proportions. Days after Solyndra filed for bankruptcy the Federal Bureau of Investigations raided the headquarters of Solyndra and the homes of many of its senior executives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. American Dream Defect Advertising Everything changed on August 1963. Most of America was intrigued by the famous speech "I Have a Dream" delivered by Martin Luther King, Jr. People from all over the nation gathered to advocate for social justice. With that, citizens of the United States yearned hope for a future full of up–roaring opportunities for everyone disregarding their ethnic background, gender, sexual preference, or economic standing. Such historical event was inspired by the "American dream". Throughout time the "American dream" has shifted from a reason to have hope to a nationwide aspiration for a distinguished social position and a plethora of belongings. Advertising agencies play a key role in the fabrication and continuation of the modern "American dream" while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Schroeder and Zwick assert, "consumer culture "depends on the continual creation and proliferation of 'defect'" (46). 'Defect' refers to the mentality that Americans often feel the need to purchase goods, even though they know that they will never satisfy their never–ending desires. That is to say, if advertising agencies opted to discontinue the promulgation of the "American dream" the consumer would no longer feel the incessant need to purchase goods. This can be attributed to the belief that the "American dream" constitutes of having a plethora of material belongings. Consequently, manufacturing companies would have to face a significant loss in revenues. As depicted by the campaign ad for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential election, whether it is to increase revenues or to gain votes ads frequently make use of the "American dream." The "American dream" is highly appealing to American consumers because of the strong sense of nationalism in the United States. Consider how the poster illustrates the nation's leader in a suit and tie. In America's contemporary consumer society a suit and tie indicate wealth and status. • 6. Exploratory Essay On Hope Exploratory Essay 2: Situating This exploratory essay will analyze Shepard Fairey's 2008 poster, Hope, depicting Barack Obama's image, as it speaks to its significance as a cultural text. The poster is highlighting Obama in a seventy–five percent profile while wearing a suit. The image is delineated on an exceedingly basic shading plan. The overwhelming colors are red, white, and blue, the shades of the American flag. Therefore, this essay will focus on the image utilizing semiotic analysis to consider how this iconic poster turned into the notable signifier for Obama's campaign and how it turned into a cultural text. During the 2008 campaign, this writer can still remember how excited he felt. It was quite riveting, to say the least. We were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, for people of color, underrepresented, and marginalized communities one can argue that the poster would remind them of prosperity. Something worth mentioning is that Crave indicates, "The fame of the Shepard Fairey poster which originated as a mixed–media stencilled collage in acrylic but has been widely circulated as a glossy offset poster – is easy to understand even at first glance" (644). This is how countless others and I felt when we laid our eyes on this cultural text. Craven goes to further state Hope was "Taken from a pedestrian Associated Press (AP) wire service photograph in 2006 by a journalist named Mannie Garcia, who shows Obama in front of an American flag, the image by Shepard Fairey is far more visionary, much more nuanced" (644). The evidence suggests that Hope was not Fairey's original work, he had used Garcia's photograph and decided to pawn it off as his own creation. Nevertheless, "It is from that deft transformation of the photo that the poster garners much of its ideological resonance" (Craven 644). Although the iconic cultural text, some could argue was plagiarized, Fairey has cemented his legacy with his creation of this poster. Perhaps forms differ as the subsequent quote from Levine ... From the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln to the death of Pope John Paul II and the fall of the shah of Iran the Associated Press's reporters has been there to break the news before anyone else. The Associated Press has won 49 Pulitzer Prizes in both writing and photography which gives another great example of what an amazing strength their reporters are to the company. The trustworthiness among these reporters and photographers are once again proven. When discussing human capital there is another branch that is contributing to the strengths of the company and that are the people that deal with the corporate part of the company. Even if the reporters and photographers are doing an amazing job creating a brand image for the company it could not be one without the people running it. One example is the people in the Research and Development department who are always ahead of their time creating new and innovative ideas for the company. One example of this is the Stylebook a guidebook for journalists, reporters, and photographers all over the world.

This cultural phenomenon has become a significant part of the history of visual arts. It is the act of making use of a pre–existing image or object without any authority or legal right. A number of contemporary artists, ranging from pop artists to figurative painters have used appropriation to fit their various styles. Some use appropriation to clearly draw a parallel between their work and the piece they are appropriating. He paints the set pieces and makes props and costumes in order to correctly copy the original work. Morimura goes as far as even trying to act like the subject in the work to accurately potray them. Often the subject in the original is of a female and deals with issues such as sexuality. By placing his own asian body within the work he challenges the western notion of the east as feminine. The work however, is multi–faceted, and is not only a social critique of the Western canon but is deeply personal, for it deals with his identity as a male asian artist in a post–colonial era. When Morimura assumes the role of a woman he is fitting into the stereotype created for him by the West, that the East is feminine. When the viewer sees the work they are taken aback at finding a familiar piece of art adapted to fit an identifiable male nude reclining in the place of a woman. Gregory Williams, an onlooker unto one of Morimura's pieces said, "When standing before Portrait (Futago), his rendition of Manet's Olympia, for example, one experiences a double jolt of recognition.... • 14. Barack Obama 's Election For Immigration Reform Not So "Hope"–ful In a 2008 debate, now–President Barack Obama proclaimed, "We are a nation of laws and we are a nation of immigrants, and we can reconcile those two things," (CNN, 2008). The hype surrounding Obama's first term election included "hope" for immigration reform–an important platform of his campaign. In 2012, Obama's re–election was partially attributed to an increase in support from the Latino demographic. The Latino vote helped Obama win key states and compromised 10% of the electorate–the highest ever recorded (Lopez & Taylor, 2012). With less than a year for Obama left in office, immigration legislation is struggling. Despite bi–partisan efforts, the future for comprehensive immigration policy is bleak. The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S.744) made great strides towards comprehensive reform in 2013. The arduous passage of S.744 was a victory for immigration reform but its subsequent failure in the House of Representatives is symbolic of an over–arching problem facing immigration reform policy in the United States. Proposed Legislation First proposed on a federal level in the U.S. Senate by Democrat Chuck Schumer on April 16th, 2013. • 15. Rhetorical Analysis Of Barrack Obama's Met Barack Obama July 27, 2004, was the night America met Barack Obama. This was the night that Obama, a member of the Illinois Senate at the time, spoke as the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention. Obama is widely known for his and grand speeches that bring tears of hope and joy to many Americans eyes. To be able to produce such strong emotions, a speaker must put forth a speech that has all aspects of The Rhetoric, Ethos, pathos, logos, and the five canons, as a well as use another theory called Narrative Paradigm to register with the audience. Barrack Obama's 2004 DNC speech become widely successful as it created hope and national unity throughout Americas with the help of Obama's use of The Rhetoric and Narrative Paradigm Theory. The Rhetoric is a theory created by Aristotle; can be defined by Aristotle himself as "an ability, in each particular case, to see the available means of persuasion". This theory holds three proofs to its name, ethos, pathos, and logos. The key to a successful speech is holding all three of these proofs in the work. Ethos is the character and credibility that the speaker holds. Pathos is what kind of emotional connection the speaker makes with the audience. And Logos is how clear and rational the speaker's argument is (Wenzel, 2017). Obama has all three proofs represented in his speech. Obama's Ethos or his credibility comes from the fact that he was chosen as the keynote speaker at the DNC. While at the time he was a not widely known politician, the fact that he was picked by presidential nominee, John Kerry. The way Obama carries himself with pride and confidence; leading the audience to believe that he truly is just that. If Obama made this same exact speech on the street people would not give him one minuet of their time but because the DNC is a huge event held for the presidential elections, that automatically gives him creditability. Obama uses pathos by telling the story of his parents growing up. He tells the audience about how his father grew up in rural Kenya, herding goats, and eventually worked his way to a scholarship "in a magical place: America" (Obama, 2004). He goes on to tell the story of his mother and how she grew up in America with a military father and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many now have a chief marketing officer (CMO) to put marketing on a more equal footing with other C–level executives such as the chief financial officer (CFO) or chief information officer (CIO).3 Making the right marketing decisions isn't always easy. One survey of more than a thousand senior marketing and sales executives revealed that although 83 percent felt that marketing and sales capabilities were a top priority for their organization's success, in rating their actual marketing effectiveness, only 6 percent felt that they were doing an "extremely good" job.4 Marketers must decide what features to design into a new product or service, what prices to set, where to sell products or offer services, and how much to spend on advertising, sales, the Internet, or mobile marketing. They must make those decisions in an Internet–fueled environment where consumers, competition, technology, and economic forces change rapidly, and the consequences of the marketer's words and actions can quickly multiply.

The "Bully Busters" made and distributed 5,000 posters, 10,000 bookmarks, and covered 50 benches in the area with information about their program (Brock). • 19. Nicholas Stoller's Neighbors When I got the invite to see Nicholas Stoller's work–in–progress comedy "Neighbors" back in February, I didn't know what to expect. Of course, I knew it was going to be raunchy but my main concern was whether the film would be actually funny. Seth Rogen's particular brand of comedy has been largely hit–or–miss with me as there are times where I've found him too abrasive (like in 2011's ill–advised reimagining of venerable radio serial crime–fighter the Green Hornet) but when he's in a role that plays to his strengths, he can be absolutely hilarious. Despite my mixed feelings on Rogen, the biggest wildcard in "Neighbors" was Zac Efron. Women–specifically teenage girls–may go crazy over his baby blue eyes and perfectly formed pecs and abs but as an actor, he's been less than impressive. With only the poster as my frame of reference, I went into the screening of "Neighbors" and came out ninety minutes later in pain...because I was laughing so hard! In fact, I enjoyed Stoller's film so much that I recently saw it a second time in its completed form, although the only things that were missing in the work–in–progress version was some post–production effects and the end credits. We're barely two weeks into the summer movie season and already we have a strong contender for bestcomedy of 2014. Whether it is a billboard for a Hollywood blockbuster, or an antismoking ad on the back of a buss, they both are meant to make the reader want to buy a product or an idea. In the cause of the billboard the product is a ticket to the movie, while the item being sold by the antismoking ad is the idea that smoking is unhealthy. The ad on the right only has one word and a picture of Obama in red and blue which remind people of other great political posters of the past and is a step away from the ads of the present. These words are meaningless and do not say anything about his policies, ideology or plans for the future of the nation, yet these ads were very popular and may have persuaded undecided voters who were tired of the political party in power at the time. Political ads are not meant for people informed about the political landscape and key issues of the time. Instead they are targeted to the uniformed and undecided masses. Ads are pasted on billboards and shown during commercials, using phrases the candidate said in the past or simple words they want the candidate to be associated with such as "hope" or "change." These ads may be the only resource an uniformed voter uses to learn about a candidate's history and policies. Therefore the ad creators craft ads to be simple and to sway favor for their candidate or to detract voters from his opponent. • 22. Street Art: The Accessibility Of Street Art One interesting thing about street art is that even with the negative connotations of illegal tagging and painting on public property, there's still a huge market for public art. However, some artists do not want to be paid because they think street art is supposed to be a more free way to create art, and being paid for it would be "selling out". While graffiti just used to be created in order to be known, both modern graffiti and street art has become a way for artists to break out of the conventional art world. The accessibility of street art often prompts artist to use it as a way to influence the viewer, and send a message. It's very sad, because Banksy makes more money and is more well known than le Rat, and le Rat's pieces are often mistaken for Banksy's. Le Rat is of two minds on this topic. On the one hand, he only thinks that anything he says about Banksy will be taken out of context and he will be the one under fire (Battersby). However, he does think that Banksy helps to call attention to street art, saying "'It is important that people recognize what we do, and accept it for what it is," he states. "It is art. Urban artists are forced to write on public property because there is a lack of space assigned to us'" (Philby), which goes back to the idea of gallery space being both too restrictive and too selective for street artists. One of the more recent pieces Blek le Rat created was on the topic of homelessness. He made his signature black and white stencils of homeless people sitting and lying on the ground. The idea was to call attention to the homeless people living in cities that people see every day and disregard. It's an ironic subject, as the popularity of street art makes le Rat's art a hot topic, but homeless people are not a popular subject at all. • 26. The American Two Party System The American two–party system is the result of the way elections are structured in the United States. Representatives in the Congress and in state legislatures are elected to in single–member districts where the individual with the most votes wins. Seeing that only one party 's candidate can win in each district, there is a strong motivation for political candidates to organize themselves into two competing parties. By doing so, party members and candidates maximize their chances of winning elections. In some countries where there are multi–member districts, parties that win smaller percentages of the vote can often win legislative representation. Consequently, in such systems, there is an incentive to form smaller third parties. Other features of the American system of elections, such as campaign finance rules, the Electoral College, and rules giving party candidates ballot access further reinforce the two–party system in the United States. While third parties rarely win major elections, and never the presidency, they have been successful in changing the outcome of elections by withdrawing political support away from one of the two major party candidates. Whatever American system contains to encourage a two party system typically discourages the emergence of third parties. Ever since third parties have emerged in American political history, their successes have been short–lived. • 41. Taking a Look at Street Art We see their art everywhere we go. On billboards, painted over some expensive advertising or a blank canvas big enough for the entire world to admire. On buildings, where some tenants don't care, but the ones who take pride in their surroundings want something done about it. On vehicles, like moving trucks and abandoned cars. They want you to see their art in motion. On sidewalks, under or on the side of bridges and freeways. To some, it's vandalism, to others, it tells a story and lets the artist express themselves. Social media is one of the most important tools to connect people in our lives, especially in today's youth culture. Our group is interested in investigating the relationship between identity and media. We are approaching this question in three main ways: street art, gentrification, and social media posts. One of the main points of both social media and street art is broadcasting a message to a larger audience. We want to analyze these messages, the artists, and the audience to see what they reveal about overall identity in Berlin. I am specifically focusing on the role of the identity of the artist and what that brings to the understanding of art. YiShi is comparing and contrasting minority communities and gentrification to see what that reveals about the overall Berlin identity. Finally, Emerson is analyzing cultural identity, which he defined as part of the "self –conception and self–perception nationality to ethnicity, religion, social class, generation, locality and any kind of social group that has its own distinct culture" (Deshmukh 600) and applying it as a comparative look between America and Germany. All three of our specific topics are prominently cemented by the concept of identity through the lens of art and expression. Although all of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
