Real-time data for system performance
Baseline ControlPoint
Water Management Technology
2
The ControlPoint-PFS is a
factory assembled product
that provides optimized flow
management in real-time
using a master valve, a flow
sensor, and a pressure
sensor working together
3
All connection points are solvent welded
using industry best practices
4
• Capture flow rate and usage
• Set high flow and low flow alerts
• Capture PSI readings
• Set high pressure and low pressure alerts
• Shutdown master valve for high flow, low
flow, high pressure, or low pressure events
• Program operational delays
based on pressure
• Program shutdowns based on
usage and budgets
• Monitor, in real-time, for
leaks or mainline breaks
The ControlPoint-PFS
allows for the programming
of multiple flow and
pressure based operations:
Mainline 1
Previous V12 Hydraulic Structure
The V12 Flow Model would support assignments of a Zone to a Program, a Program to a Mainline, and a Mainline to a
Point of Connection. This configuration allows a water manager to balance hydraulics, but you lose the resolution for true
flow monitoring and management.

Advanced Flow Management Capabilities
Enhanced leak detection
The BaseStation 3200 uses a three-strike leak detection protocol in real-time, while the system continues to
operate. If a mainline sees a flow variance, it will talk to downstream zones to see if the leak is occurring at the
zone level. After three zones come back as “OK," the 3200 will automatically shut down the mainline to prevent
further leaks thus saving money and water.
Flow Variance Ranges
A four tier Flow Variance Range improves resolution while the system is operating to monitor for high and/or
low flow variances compared to learned flows. The ranges:
• Below 25 GPM
• 25 – 100 GPM
• 100 – 300 GPM
• Above 300 GPM
Dynamic Flow Allocation – Incrementally add more flow to the hydraulic structure based on real-time demand.
ControlPoint Grouping – Automate ControlPoint selection for operation based on design flow and real-time
demand.

PipeView is a digital model
of a site’s hydraulic structure
that shows the real-time
status of water allocation
from a water source to a
control point to a mainline
and finally to individual
zones.
11
Hydraulic structure
Water Source: This is where the
water comes from that supplies the
system with water.
Control Point: This allows water into
the system and monitors the flow
and records the pressure. A control
point can include one or all of the
following: Pump, Master valve, Flow
sensor, Pressure sensor
Mainline: This distributes the water
across a site. A mainline can connect
to the following: a control point,
another mainline, or a zone
Zone: This is where water leaves the
system for irrigation.
12
Water Source: This screen will display
messages, budget information, and general
information.
Control Point: This screen will display messages,
flow graphs for usage and rate, pressure graphs
for PSI, and general information.
Mainline: This screen will display messages and
general information.
Zone: This screen will display messages and
general information.
14
15
The FlowStation application
allows FlowStation users to
remotely configure and
manage their shared-flow
resources from a desktop,
tablet, or mobile device
16
17
The FlowStation hydraulic structure supports:
Water Sources = up to 20
Control Points = up to 20
Mainlines = up to 40
Users can make the following assignments:
Water Source > Control Point (up to 8)
Control Point > Mainline
Mainline > Mainline
Mainline > Control Point
This configuration architecture supports true sub-
metering for flow management and complex site
configurations.
Thank you!

Editor's Notes

  1. Baseline is redefining irrigation water management, providing the industry’s only real-time monitoring of flow AND pressure using ControlPoint technology.
  2. Baseline’s first ControlPoint product offering is called ControlPoint PFS. The ControlPoint PFS is an assembly which includes two-wire ready flow, pressure, and master valve components. These sensor devices enhance the performance of the irrigation system while monitoring in real-time for flow and pressure variances, as well as managing operation of zones to optimize design capacities.
  3. The ControlPoint PFS is installed downstream of a preferred master valve and is pre-assembled with the proper pipe lengths upstream and downstream of the flow sensor for proper resolution. All joints are solvent wielded to industry standards, the pressure sensor T fitting is slip for connection to the master valve. The required biCoders are mounted on a back plate for a clean installation and the biCoders are factory wired in a waterproof cylinder. The installing contractor only has 1 two-wire connection and 1 MV connection to make for operation. The ControlPoint PFS is available in three sizes: 1”, 1.5”, and 2”. The entire assembly is backed by Baseline’s 10-year warranty.
  4. When the ControlPoint PFS is configured properly in the Flow Setup menu of a BaseStation 3200, multiple operations can be programmed for monitoring and management. The monitoring settings will react to operation out of programmed parameters and the management settings will ensure system performance, managing concurrent operations, operational delays, control point priorities and water source budgets.
  5. While the Legacy version of the BaseStation 3200 provided powerful water management capabilities, it (like many other control systems) was deficient in managing the flow capacity of different pipe sizes. The entire mainline structure was viewed as a single mainline. This reduced the flow resolution for pipes of differing design flow rates and the zones connected to those pipes.
  6. To address the limitation, Baseline has introduced a new flow model for irrigation design. Based on the design, managers can now create a hydraulic structure by assigning zones to mainlines, mainlines to control points, and control points to water sources. The resulting hydraulic system can be finite, infinite, prioritized, and budgeted for optimal performance. This gives the customer more visibility and control over their irrigation system than ever before.
  7. The V16 BaseStation opens the door for several powerful water management capabilities. These capabilities enhance the resolution of flow across the entire hydraulic structure.
  8. By adding a new Water Source tier to the flow model, the BaseStation 3200 can now support 8 mainline / sub-mainline flow configurations. Sub-mainlines can now be designed as Control Points downstream of the Water Source. This facilitates better water monitoring and management when pipe downsizing is utilized to optimize system hydraulics. To reiterate, Zones are assigned to Mainlines, Mainlines to Control Points, Control Points to Water Sources. Zones can now be connected to different mainlines but be scheduled in the same program. The controller knows which Control Points to activate to provide water to the zones that are operating in that program. If during operation, demand increases beyond the design flow of a Water Source, an additional Water Source will activate in real-time to provide enough flow to meet the demand. This function is known as Dynamic Flow Allocation. This configuration requires the FlowStation Performance Component.
  9. When a bypass configuration is designed to allow a smaller volume of water into the hydraulic structure (for quick coupler operation, or manual bleed operation, for example), the BaseStation is able to manage the scenario more intelligently. In this case where zones 32 and 33 have a combined learned flow value below the resolution of the 6” flow sensor, the BaseStation knows to read the flow through the 1.5” sensor without opening the 6” master valve. If larger volume zones come on during that operation the BaseStation will close the 1.5” master valve and open the 6”. This function is known as ControlPoint Grouping.
  10. PipeView shows the allocation of water, in real-time, for single controller configurations or for shared flow configurations involving up to 20 controllers. Each box represents a different component of the hydraulic structure. Each box shows the description of the hydraulic component and its status in real-time.
  11. When a user clicks or touches a box in the hydraulic structure, a slide-out screen will activate to display content specific to that hydraulic component. When a hydraulic component is selected, the box will become highlighted so the user can easily reference which component they have selected
  12. When a ControlPoint is selected a slide out screen will display the current status of the devices associated with the ControlPoint and show the current Flow and Pressure in a tachometer style graph for visual reference.
  13. Scrolling down, users can access the settings specific to that component. Users can view the settings for reference and they can edit the settings to refine the performance or behavior that component.
  14. The FlowStation app will allow users to see the FlowStations they have within their company and the controllers that are assigned to their FlowStations. A single FlowStation will support up to 20 BaseStation 3200 controllers for massive shared-flow configurations. Users can drill into an individual FlowStation to view general information such as the description, MAC address, and IP address.
