2. 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of
you who are weary and carry heavy
burdens, and I will give you
rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me
teach you, because I am humble and
gentle at heart, and you will find rest
for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy
to bear, and the burden I give you is
light.”
3. • “Come”
• It shows excitement, a strong appeal on the will,
it expresses the desire and compassionate heart
of Jesus
• And His appeal to come to Him as a relief from
their oppression
• It is a call to follow Him as a committed disciple
• A call to believe in Him
• “To”
• A preposition expressing close and intimate
fellowship
• “Me” A personal pronoun
4. THE TRUTH ABOUT REST:
A. REST IS COMMANDED.
“There are six days when you may
work, but the seventh day is a
Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred
assembly. You are not to do any work;
wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to
the Lord.” Lev. 23:3
5. B. REST TAKES COMMITMENT.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs
16:3
“...for anyone who enters God’s rest also
rests from his own work, just as God did
from his. Let us, therefore, make every
effort to enter that rest, so that no one
will fall by following their example of
disobedience.” Heb. 4:10-11
9. C. REST WITHOUT COMPARISON.
“Be sure to do what you should, for then
you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of
having done your work well, and you
won’t need to compare yourself to anyone
else.” Galatians 6:4 (NLT)
10. “Come to me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I
will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from
me, for I am gentle and
humble in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy and my burden is
light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
11. It has to do with releasing
your pride, so that you are
free to live and walk in
acceptance of who God is
making you to be.
