Galalilee Symbolism
In the picture View of the Surf on the Sea of Galilee. Erich Lessing (The photographer) took a picture to capture the form and beauty of the waves
hitting the shore at the Sea of Galilee. The picture was taken on 8/03/04. While many might say that it's just a picture and it doesn't mean anything.
However, if they just took a deeper look than they could see that every picture has a story and upon viewing this picture of the ocean, the lighting and
forms of the waves are not only magnificent, but also evoke deeper emotion and meaning than someone may notice at first glance. The lighting used in
the photo View of the Surf on the Sea of Galilee, isn't just there to make the photo look pretty, but it's also there to help the viewer's focus be directed
toward what Erich Lessing wants them to see. Personally, the shading and lighting of the photo brings about a sense ... Show more content on

Plus, the way that the waves roll up and then crash down makes me think of the things that once were on a straight road up to greatness, but then took
a sharp turn, and came crashing down. When the waves are seen hitting the shore, a sense of calm can come across one's mind. However, everyone has
those up–down moments in life, and the image can also allow those moments to re–enter your mind. I don't assume that the image would cause people
to become distraught. However, I do believe that the waves going up and down could create a sense of calmness or memory. Every picture has a story
and upon going into detail about this picture of the ocean, the lighting and forms of the waves are not only beautiful, but also evoke deeper emotion
and meaning than someone may notice at first glance. This picture taken by Erich Lessing can truly create a different meaning, if you just take the time
to truly look deeper. Every picture has a story, and although yours might be different than another's. That doesn't mean that it isn't

Synoptic Gospel Comparison
The major differences between the Gospel of John and the Synoptic Gospels are the following:
1). According to the Synoptic, Gospel Jesus was working in Galilee and on the last day, he arrives south of Judea whereas the Gospel of John suggests
that during Jesus ministry he travels back and forth between Galilee and Jerusalem.
2). The Synoptic Gospel states that official hostility toward Jesus occurred when HE assault the Temple at the end of his career. Nevertheless, the
Gospel of John noted it at the beginning of his career(Harris, 2014).
3.) The Synoptic Gospel acknowledge that after John the Baptist imprisonment, Jesus mission begins, but the Gospel of John stated that there was an
overlap in both of their mission.
4). In essence, there was

Galilee Chapter 5-6 Summary
5:1. The end of chapter 4 showed that Jesus was going to teach the Scriptures all over Galilee. One day, the multitudes had gathered to hear Jesus teach
Gods' word. Jesus not only taught the Scriptures in the synagogue on the Sabbath, but whenever and wherever the opportunity presented itself.
5:2. As the crowd grew and pressed in on Jesus to hear what He was saying, he ended up backed up against the water, and so, not wanting to stand in
the water and teach, He decided to get into a boat and teach a little way out from shore.
5:3. The fisherman didn't need their boats while they cleaned the nets, so Jesus got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out
a little from land. Maybe Simon was finished with cleaning his nets, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they had let down the net and started to pull it back in, they found that they had caught a great number of fish. So many that their net was
breaking. Although it isn't recorded how many fish were caught.
5:7. So as not to break the net and lose all the fish, they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. Even then, there were so
many fish, that they filled both the boats and they began to sink.
5:8. The response of Simon Peter to this miracle reveals some of what he may have been thinking when Jesus asked him to let down his nets after he
had just finished cleaning them. I called him Simon Peter here, instead of just Simon, because his apostolic nature starting to emerge
5:9. The reason for Peter's confession of sin is that he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken. The miracle
caused amazement, which led to the recognition that Jesus had not asked them to do something ridiculous after all.
5:10. Among these others were James and John, the sons of Zebedee. John may have been one of the first followers of Jesus. Asfishing partners with
Simon, they would have shared in the task of cleaning the nets and hauling in the fish, as well as the potential rewards from such a great

Mary Magdalene From The Sea Of Galilee
My Name
As we grow up we receive three names in our lives; the ones we receive from our parents, the names our friends call us, and the ones we must make
for ourselves. People take names as a serious matter because they tend to judge someone by their names before even getting to know them. The
majority of individuals I know either truly accepts their names in its entirety or is completely unpleased with it. For me, I am someone who seems to
be just right in the middle of them both.
My name (Jessica) can be traced back from an American origin, which means rich, or God beholds. On other hand, my middle name (Magdalena) is
taken from the Biblical character, that being Mary Magdalene from the Sea of Galilee. Growing up, I had several moments

The Bible: The Calling Of The First Disciples
Determine the boundaries of the text:
When I started reading this passage, I always thought that the text was clear and so were the boundaries of the text. As I'm reading this, I just see how
the before and after parables set–up "The Calling Of The First Disciples." When I reread this parable I feel like something deeper just sticks out at me.
I love how Jesus is trying to reveal himself in a simple parable as, "Take a leap of faith and take your boat deeper with me for deeper blessings."
The surrounding parables are both on healing, I feel like that, it just shows how people who don't "know" Jesus still will call him Master (vs 5) and
will follow him into the deep. In this passage, miracles, teachings and discipleships outline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How often do we avoid putting out into the deep waters of following and bearing witness to Jesus because we are convinced that we will not see any
results? What might it mean for us to go fishing with Jesus –– to trust and follow him outside our comfort zones, to let go of our certainties, to have
our lives radically reoriented?
My Reflection:
For me Luke 5:1–11, was a confirmation on my life in the last 5 months. It was a reminder for me that, all is going to be "More than okay" and God
has a plan for my for me and He is protecting me. In verse 4 of Luke 5, "When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Now go out where it is
deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish." But I love what Simon (Peter) says to Jesus in verse 5, "Master," Simon replied, "we worked
hard all last night and didn't catch a thing. But if you say so, I'll let the nets down again." Isn't that our own life? How are we supposed to go deeper
with God, if we're second guessing God and afraid of jumping in the boat, and letting God take us deeper. I can only imagine that moment when we
surrender ourselves, and let God take us deeper, how much more will God bless us when we let our fishing nets

The Charismatic Age: First-Century Galilee Essay
The Charismatic Age: First–Century Galilee
The long–awaited death in 4 BCE of Herod, the ruthless architect of an oppressive Judean police state, sparked a series of spontaneous revolts by the
Jewish peasantry. Once these rebellions were subdued, the Jews continued to chafe under a series of tyrannical Roman governors until the massive
revolt of 66–70. This period was marked by "widespread discontent and periodic turbulence." Direct Roman rule, along with the burdensome tribute that
accompanied it, was highly offensive to the Jews, who considered themselves subjects only to God. Many, in fact, considered their conditions
tantamount to slavery (Horsley and Hanson 34–5).
This highly–charged atmosphere reached a fever pitch in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He said he was a prophet, and that at his command the river would be divided and allow them an easy crossing. Through such words he deceived many.
But Fadus hardly let them consummate such foolishness. He sent out a cavalry unit against them, which killed many in a surprise attack, though they
also took many alive. Having captured Theudas himself, they cut off his head and carried it to Jerusalem. (164)
Theudas' attempt to become the new Joshua by parting the waters of the Jordan was not the only example of an ill–fated maneuver by a would–be
prophet. Around 56 CE, a Jew who had come originally, or returned recently, from Egypt, took a page from the battle of Jericho:
A certain man from Egypt arrived at Jerusalem, saying he was a prophet and advising the mass of the common people to go with him to the Mount of
Olives, which is just opposite the city...He said that from there he wanted to show them that at his command the walls of Jerusalem would fall down
and they could then make an entry into the city. But when Felix learned of these things, he commanded the soldiers to take up their weapons. Marching
from Jerusalem with many horsemen and foot–soldiers, he attacked the Egyptian and his followers, killed four hundred of them and took two hundred
alive. The Egyptian himself fled the battle and vanished without a trace. (168)

Pope Francis Research Papers
Each year we encounter new people and new events that seemingly shake up the world around us. One of these people whom we encountered in 2013
was Pope Francis. Almost every Christian and non–Christian knows something about Pope Francis. He was named person of the year by Time
Magazine, referred to as an inspiration by Catholics around the world, and he seemed to win the hearts of all Christians with his charm. He
especially has seemed successful at attracting young adults and millenials to faith, a feat that is usually too difficult for even the most experienced
pastor to succeed at doing. Pope Francis certainly became popular in 2013. His charm, his honesty, his devotion to God, and even his ability to be on

The missional task of discipleship. How do we prepare ourselves to nurture ourselves or others when they hear a call in their lives such as that of Jesus.
A call that simply says "Follow Me." A call toward a life shaped by Jesus for the rest of their days. Maybe it is a call to a specific task, maybe it's a call
to a new vocation, or maybe it's a call to make disciples for Jesus. How do we as Christians prepare ourselves and others for this kind of call to
discipleship– this kind of life transforming trust and faith in Jesus Christ and what God has planned for our lives? It is all through faith. Through
trusting and believing in Jesus Christ. And we have to have faith and trust no matter how we receive a

Mark 16: 1-8
Mark 16: 1–8 reaches its climax in verse 7. Verse 7 contains the message of the angel to the three women to respond to faith and proclaim the
resurrection of Christ given by witnessing the divine act by which the stone was rolled away (Dufour, 1974). The angel of God or the young man
clothed in a white robe (v. 5) gives a commission to the three women to go and tell the disciples that Jesus Christ will go before them to Galilee.
Although Peter is singled out, pointing to his denials of Christ in Mark 14: 68–71, it is important to note that the Easter message was first proclaimed
to the three faithful and devoted women of the Christian entourage as pointed out in The Jerome Biblical Commentary (1968). These three faithful
women are called to become the first witnesses of the resurrection of Christ and to share the good news with the apostles. Healy (2008) referred to the
three women as "the apostles to the apostles" alluding to their commission. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Original Ending Of The Gospel Of Mark
When you open the Gospel of Mark, you will find that it does not end with the eight sections (MK 16:1–8) of the chapter sixteen. Because there are
twelve sections (MK 16: 9–20) for the end of the Mark after that eight sections. However, some Bible scholars believe that twelve sections are not the
original ending, because its writing style and sentences are obviously different from the Mark. This text is obviously added to the list after Mark.
Scholars believe that there are two relatively credible reasons: First, in the early church, some of the scribes tried to make the story's outcome more
satisfactory; second, Some Bible scholars believe that the original ending of Mark has been lost, so people tried to make up. So why the original
ending of the Mark is an omit ending? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

likely wanting people to believe Jesus by their personal faith, not by the story. The purpose of the Mark ending is not only want people to accept the

Cana Of Galilee Research Paper
Jesus was invited to his cousin's wedding in Cana of Galilee. Galilee was by the coast and the rest of the village had many grape plants. Some vines
produce green and purple grapes which were very sweet. It happened that in Cana a wedding took place between a loving couple. The groom was ready
and so was the bride. Jesus' mother was there and so were some of his friends, namely Andrew, John, James, Peter, and Phillip. A certain governor was
invited and he brought some guests. Everyone was dancing and eating, but there was trouble at the back. The servants found out that the grape wine
that they prepared was finished. Mary, the mother of Jesus saw their sad faces and she sensed that something was wrong.
She asked, "Brothers why the sad face?"
"We have out of the wine," they remarked. Mary told them about her son who, was from heaven, but the men seldom believed. Mary knew that they
thought she was crazy so she went to Jesus.
Jesus was speaking to the guests at the wedding when his mother interrupted and said, "Jesus, can I speak to you aside?"
Jesus held her hand and drew aside. Mary said,"We have no wine." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Storm On Galilee
The Storm on the Sea of Galilee was painted in 1633 by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, a Dutch artist who is claimed to be the best throughout
time. The painting was stolen in 1990 from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and has never been seen since. It is depicted from Jesus
Calms the Storm which appears in Mathew 8:23, Mark 4:35, and Luke 8:22. Rembrandt did a good job representing the story while keeping a strong
artistic value and quality in the painting. The Biblical story of Jesus Calms the Storm appears in the three synoptic gospels of Mathew, Mark, and
Luke. The story starts out with Jesus asking his disciples to cross the Sea of Galilee with him. After Jesus had fallen asleep, a great storm had blown

Rembrandt used a triadic color scheme, meaning he used one color with two other colors that are on the opposite side of the color wheel. For
example, a majority of the painting is blue while in some parts are yellow and orange/brown. This color scheme also goes into the majority and
minority aspect of the painting. A majority of the painting is dark and blue, while the minority of the painting bright and yellow. The majority and
minority helps make the painting more interesting and it creates strong contrast with the dark sky and sea. With the front of the boat being the
minority and the highest level of contrast, it becomes the main focal point. Light and shadows are another thing Rembrandt did well with. It adds a
level of detail that makes the painting more realistic and understandable. There is also a use of psychic lines in the painting, all of the men surrounding
Jesus are looking at when which creates another focal point and allows the audience to understand who Jesus

The Gospel Of Matthew Is Considered A Gospel
The Gospel of Matthew is considered a Gospel based on the premise that it describes the life, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. Translated
into narrative form means 'good news' and the preferred standard to communicate the mystery of Christ. A Gospel is the committing to write of a
narrative born of the faith–filled vision, theological perspective and pastoral concerns of the evangelist (Mullins 2007, VI). The famous theologian
Rudolf Bultmann saw the gospel as an original Christian creation that centered on faith; cult and pastoral concerns arising from and illustrating the
Christian Kerygma (Mullins 2007, IV). Kerygma is a fancy Greek word that is the very heart of the gospel, the core message of the Christian faith that

Numerous studies show that the Gospels of Luke and Matthew contain much material from the Q–source and none in Mark's Gospel. This is
significant as the contents of these texts apparently passed down verbally from one generation to another. The M–source on the other hand is a
hypothetical textual source likely written by Matthew and defined as special material that is neither Q source nor Markan. The M–source distinguishes
itself from both Q and Markan influence with inclusions such as Jesus's Genealogy (Matthew 1:1–17) and the Infant Story (Matthew 1:18–23). The
Gospel of Mark or Markan material is plausibly the earliest of the Gospels and an influence to the Lukan and Matthean writings. There are 661
verses in Mark, 606 of those verses appear in Matthew, however Matthew is a simple, easy to read style as compared to that of Mark.
Exegesis of Matthew 4:23–25 & 9:35–38
4:23 Teaching and Preaching: There is a difference in these two acts that Jesus practiced. The teaching term is in reference to all things present,
while preaching is things yet to come (Aquinas 1993, 142). By the word of divine power he cured the weaknesses of the body and by the medicine of
heavenly teaching, he healed the wounds of the soul (Simonetti 2001, 74). It should be noted that at this stage of Jesus's ministry, he is directing
everything to his own people and only later in his ministry does

Sea Of Galilee
When doing this reaction paper and researching for the perfect religious artwork, the one I decided to choose was Christ walking on the Sea of
Galilee. I feel like this piece of artwork spoke and stood out to me when I was looking at different types of religious art. When I was researching
religious art, this piece of art was the first one that I saw and I loved it. Some comments on this specific painting that stood out to me and I thought
were important were the colors in the painting. I like how the artist used colors to make the painting dark, gloomy and stormy. I like the different
textures of the waves and the clouds in the painting. You can tell by looking at the waves and clouds that it was a strong windy night and the sea was
getting rough. I also, liked how in the painting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I thought this religious art was interesting, because it does not show Christ face it only shows the back so that is why, I think the painting is focusing
more so on the boat, the apostles in the boat and the water rather than Christ is face. Another comment about this religious painting is seeing the fear on
the faces of the apostles. When doing research on this religious art the meaning of the of the art is that Christ is saving and protecting his apostles from
danger in the Sea of Galilee. I thought this piece of art was interesting, because I thought it showed important relationship between Jesus and his
apostles. Also, this painting shows that the apostles were in fear and when they saw Christ standing on the Sea of Galilee they thought he was a ghost.
The main point of this religious artwork was that the apostles were so terrified when they saw Jesus because, they did not recognize him. They had
faith that Christ would come, but the fear overcame them and they could not recognize Christ. In this painting fear blinds the faith the apostles had in

It started on a regular summer day. I was having a conversation with my Grandparents and the question came up, "If you could go anywhere in the

about the possibility of going to there. Well, before I knew it my parents had agreed to let me go to Israel with my grandparents and a man named Dr.
Bookman. After that my mom and I spent the rest of the summer learning about the places I would go. We put together a journal identifying some of

Tabgha and Mosaic were next on the list for where I went that day.
At the end of the day I had the privilege of being baptized where the Jordan River empties into the Sea of Galilee. Bookman asked me when I had
accepted Jesus into my heart and why I wanted to be baptized. I told him that I was at school when I felt God knocking on the door of my heart
and I asked him to come in. Being baptized in Israel was very special to me. After I was baptized another lady in the group also decided to be
baptized. At the end of the baptism, the group swam around and had a great time. On day four I went to the Qumran cave and Dead Sea. I floated in the
Dead Sea. After that, we went to En Gedi but they had closed the gate and we couldn't hike up the mountain, but I did see 6–7 Ibex in the area. Then
after that, the funniest thing happened. I saw a camel parked in a parking space at a grocery store.
On day five I was in a bus and went to Jerusalem. On day six I spent all my time around and in Jerusalem. In Jerusalem I visited many places. I went
to the Western Wall which represents a very sacred and holy place for the Jewish people. After just looking at it I was able to go in the Western Wall
tunnels. I also went into Hezekiah's Tunnel that was the length of 6 football fields in water. I also went to the upper room which was very peaceful.
After that, I went to the Garden Tomb it was very peaceful there.

Rembrandt's Christ In The Storm On The Sea Of Galilee
A painting captures a single moment. Most of the time, the audience does not see what happens before and after the moment of the piece, but
Rembrandt's Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee is his depiction of Mark 4:35:39, a story that most children learn in Sunday School. Mark
4:35–36 tells the moments before the storm: "On that day, when evening had come, He told them, 'Let's cross over to the other side of the sea.' So
they left the crowd and took Him along since He was already in the boat. And other boats were with Him" (The Bible). Rembrandt fabricates the
scene of verse 37 and 38: "A fierce windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. But He
was in the stern, sleeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, he works with a variety of shades of black within the murky storm clouds. Raetta Parker notes, "Black is a mysterious color associated
with fear and the unknown" and "denotes strength" (Parker). For this purpose, Rembrandt uses the storm to symbolize the hard times, or
"storms", in a person's life. In this case, the strength of the storm is overpowering the boat, making it hard for the disciples to keep the boat from
being destroyed and overtaken. By looking at the picture, the storm has cause one of the riggings to break free from the boat and tore the sail, not
standing a chance against the strong winds the storm is throwing at them. Also, the dark colors of the overcast prevent the disciples from being
able to see the shores. There is no place for the disciples to dock the boat until the storm passes by, stuck in the middle of the storm Comparing the
painting to life's challenges, people can often be broken emotionally or physically, whether it may be a death of a loved one or having to face a
terminal illness. They can feel as if, like the disciples, all alone with nowhere to escape to safety. Whatever situation one may face, it can be
overpowering and seems as if there is no hope in

the time to come. Until every single Roman was dead. Joel probably thought the same thing. When Jesus got off the boat he was healing people
while talking. He said many parables, I heard one about faith like a mustard seed, and another about a sower sowing seeds in the ground. He made
no sense at all, sometimes I wanted to leave but I couldn't I had to hear more. I was talking with Joel until somebody yelled he was hungry. Jesus and
his disciples were talking and then called to anyone who had food. There was a great silence for a minute but then Joel yelled that he had food. As one

Analysis Of Elaine Pagels's Beyond Belief : The Gospel Of...
1. When the Gospel of Thomas was discovered in December of 1945 at Nag Hammadi, Egypt, many people questioned if this book belonged with the
other four gospels. Thomas (Hebrew) or Didymus (Greek) also nicknamed as "Doubting Thomas," described as a man who would not believe until he
saw it with his own two eyes. He ceaselessly questioned and was misanthropic about Jesus while the other eleven disciples believed from the
beginning. Thomas's book was full of Jesus's sayings whereas the other four books contains Jesus's sayings as well, but in a story format that starts
from the beginning of when Jesus was born to the day he resurrects from the dead. Thomas wrote down Jesus's 114 sayings when he was his disciple.

It is to not be taken literally, but rather metaphorically. Take his saying with deep thoughts and interpretation to find the true faith of God. When one
obtains the full truth, the thought of death will never cross one's mind.
3. Equally important to the first parallel, Thomas writes in verse 31 "Jesus said, "No prophet is welcome in his own village; no physician cures
those who know him." Similarly, the author of John 4:44 records "(for Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in the prophet's own
country)." As stated earlier, Thomas has no specific timeline. John's proverb sits in the context of when Jesus returns to Galilee. Galilee was a
country that sits on top of Judea. Nazareth is in the lower part of Galilee. It is known that Jesus was born in Nazareth, but travelled to upper Galilee
because he knew the residents there would receive him warmly as they heard of his miracles. Although this statement is ironic when first reading it, it
corresponds with the fact that he is from Nazareth; there was no welcome committee to when he began to give God's words to the residents. It is with
assumption that the residents of Nazareth belittled him and did not believe until he performed his phenomenon. This can also be interpreted as
although one can be infamous within one's city or country, but when leaving the city or country that one person is better known outside, as the
residents in town will speak about said person until it

Compare And Contrast Sea Of Galilee
During the early days of Jesus life, Israel was greatly contrasted between those who lived in the southern part of Judea and those who lived in the
northern part of Galilee. Judea was considered more religious therefore scholars of the law caused devoted Jews to come there for spiritual training.
Galilee was a mixture of Jews and Gentiles and with its great highways and farmlands it was a more commercial area that was very prosperous. In
contrast Judea had less foreigners and a hatred for heathenism. The decaying cities, bare rugged hills, and the glorious city of Jerusalem favored those
who were more spiritually minded as Jerusalem became the center of religious activity. The Sea of Galilee to the north attractive fisherman and

Analyzing The Gospel Story Of The Gentile Christianity
The Gentile Christians were well aware of the gospel story, and Luke intended "to assure his readers of the certainty of what they had been taught"
(ESV 1936). Also, the gospel was written in a way that non–Christians could receive it and understand the good news story, making it a prime tool for
evangelism. Other reasons for writing include "delineating the relationship between Christianity and Judaism", proving "that Christianity was no threat
to the political authority of the Empire", as well as to clarify and give solutions to problems regarding the end times or the so called second coming
(Allen 9–11). All four gospels share a united goal to portray the events of Jesus' life in a way for readers to understand the salvation that comes

issue, as they are not only beautiful, but hold special meanings behind each and every one. To have a painting be stolen is like having your child be
kidnapped, and you can never make another painting exactly like the original. Struggles with retrieving stolen art are at a high, especially if said art

The challenges faced in the passages were more than a couple. Two different places and two different years, but same problem. Neither cases were

world. Making the robbery the largest art theft in American history, mostly because 13 paintings were stolen. They were stolen in March 1990 from the

Galilee After Crucifixion Of Jesus
Galilee–Days after the crucifixion of Jesus several people witnessed the risen Son of God, Jesus. As it was foretold by Jesus to his followers he rose
from the dead to fulfill the scriptures. In Galilee, Jesus instructed his disciples to go out into the world and make disciples baptizing them in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them and know that He is always with them.Jesus gathered with his twelve disciples to
celebrate Passover. While the shared a meal together, Jesus told them what was going to happen. He told how he would be betrayed by one of them
and told how He would be denied by one of them. Jesus also told them how His blood would be poured out for the forgiveness of sins and how He

Scripture Document 3 John Ch. 4
Scripture Comment Sheet 3: John Ch.4 Jesus has left Judea to return to Galilee. On his way to Galilee Jesus passes through Samaria and stops in a
town called Sychar. Jesus rested at Jacob's well that is near a plot of land that was given to Joseph from Jacob. Jesus asks the Samaritan woman for a
drink. The woman is confused why Jesus would ask her that. Jesus explains to her that is she were to ask the same of him he would have given her
more than just water, he would have given her "living water". The woman asks questions about who Jesus is. She asks if he is "greater than our
father Jacob". Jesus responds saying "everyone who drinks the water will be thirsty again; but whoever drink the water I shall give will never thirst;

She tells Jesus that she doesn't have a husband. However Jesus already knew that about her. He tells her that she has had five husbands and her
"current husband" is not really her husband. The woman is surprised that Jesus knows the personal details of her life and comes to the conclusion
that he has to be a prophet. So she asks him where she should be worshipping. She assumes its in Jerusalem. Jesus explains to her that very soon it
wont matter the place of worship. People will have a new understanding and therefore will begin to worship very different from how they do
currently. The woman tells Jesus that the Messiah is coming. Jesus says to her "I am he, the one who is speaking with you" (Jn 4:26). Then the
disciples come back and are confused to why Jesus would be talking to this woman. The woman leaves to go get people from the town. The
disciples are worried about Jesus because he hasn't eaten in a while. Jesus tells them that is food is "to do the will of the one who sent me and to
finish his work" (Jn 4:34). The disciples say that the harvest will happen in 4 months, but Jesus explains that it is already going on. Jesus stays for two

Exegesis of Luke 5:27–32
Overview
The passage that was chosen was Luke 5:27–32, or the calling of Levi. This passage presents Jesus telling Levi, a tax collector, to follow him. Levi
does follow Jesus, and soon after they are having a banquet dinner with other tax collectors. Jesus is asked why he chooses to eat with them, and he
simply responds with "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Levi is chosen to emphasize that he is of the worst sinners. The dinner with the sinners is a part of Jesus' mission of this ... Show more content on

In verse 29, he is changed from Levi the tax collector to Levi (Matthew) the disciple.
Jesus exposes to the Pharisees that his point was to call sinners to repentance. The tradition of table fellowship was quite common among the Pharisees
(Green 244). The dinner represents a festive event, depicting Levi's leaving everything. By leaving everything, Levi has repented (Green 246).
Detailed Analysis
Luke's talents include being an artist and a theologian. He was a master of Greek and can write elegantly in Greek. In his gospel, he uses a larger
vocabulary than that of Matthew and Mark (McKenzie 525).
The Gospel of Luke was considered historical content that is still referred to Lukan themes today (McKenzie 525). Jesus and his morals are detailed
in the gospel. This book is represented by a priestly calf. The calf is fitting because the book starts off with priests and ends with the calf (Just 2).
The writer of this gospel was most likely a Gentile Christian. The Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles were both written by the same author.
The evidence comes from the prefaces in both books. Both are addressed to the same person (Theophilus) and both have cross–references to one
another.
Synthesis
There are a couple lessons to be learned in this passage. The first is that Jesus reaches out to those who need him the most. Jesus reaches out to Levi in
the passage because he needs him the most.
The second is the Jesus is trying to recruit the poor

Galilee Basin Research Paper
A controversial topic commonly debated among society is the construction of coal mines. Although they potentially contain great economic promise
and access to more resources, they also harm the surrounding environment and increase carbon dioxide emissions.
A specific example of a possible excavation site is the Galilee Basin, located in western Queensland. The Galilee Basin is an untapped coal reservoir
that spans across 247,000 square kilometres of land and is home to five mines approved for construction and one mine waiting for approval by the
Queensland Government.
The mines themselves will bring many job opportunities for rural and urban Queenslanders, as they are forecasted to create a total of 28,000 jobs,
15,000 of which will be in the construction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these many benefits, the coal mines also proposes many environmental issues, the first of which would be the effect that they would have on
the neighbouring Great Barrier Reef. The increased production of carbon dioxide would increase the rate of ocean acidification in the Great Barrier
Reef, a UNESCO site that is already suffering from many other pollution and destruction issues. However ocean acidification would only be a
secondary effect of the coal mines, as the primary concern would be runoff of sediment from the mines that would leak into the reef, polluting it even
further.
It is predicted that Australia's carbon dioxide emissions would double if these mines were to be built, from 357.5 tonnes to 750 tonnes of carbon
dioxide per year. Additionally, many of these mines will require additional train rails to be constructed for the purpose of transporting the mined goods
to proposed ports on the coast of

Gospel Of Mark Analysis Essay
In the Gospel of Mark, which provides the gospel passage for most Sundays this year, we heard at the Easter Vigil less than a week ago, Mark's
account of the discovery of the empty tomb.
At the close of the narrative, Mark depicted the women disciples fleeing in amazement, not saying anything to anyone out of fear (Mark 16.8).
Other scenes at that first Easter find the apostles cowering behind locked doors, afraid of being exposed as followers of Jesus of Nazareth (John
20.19)–that will be this Sunday's gospel.
John has chosen the painting of Jesus accompanying two disciples on the Road to Emmaus by Robert Zund for the memorial card of his ordination.
The image recalls how we can have all the details of Easter morning and yet be unable to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We might say that, in this text, their original Galilee experience of their call is renewed.
Shortly after this episode Jesus asks Peter three times whether he loves Him and, each time, entrusts to him the task that He had performed for the
seven of them on the seashore, namely to "feed My sheep," that is, guiding them, teaching them and sanctifying them.
Renewed by Jesus' ministrations and fellowship, Peter and the others go forth and, after Pentecost, boldly proclaimed the Name of Jesus to all in
Jerusalem and beyond, as we see throughout this Easter season in the readings from the Acts of the Apostles.
John chose the second reading for this occasion. In it, we hear part of an early baptismal homily attributed to St. Peter. It speaks of Christ
constructing the Church, with all of his disciples having a role to play in becoming a royal priesthood, a holy nation. As God's own people, they are
to proclaim to everyone God's marvellous deeds. We witness this evening a marvellous deed in God's call to John later in his life to embrace a new
family, and a new, spiritual

The book of Genesis is one of the better–known books of the Bible. Not only is it the first book of the Bible it is also the first documentation of our
existence. The book was originally written in Hebrew with the title of bereshit, which means "in the beginning." (Bible.org) While the author of
Genesis is never actually named, it is believed that Moses wrote the book of Genesis. In Acts 7:22 Luke recaps that Moses was trained in the "wisdom
of the Egyptians" and was the only one who was prepared to integrate and understand the manuscripts and oral narratives in the Pentateuch. Only Moses

The sea is known for its violent storms because of the difference in temperatures. Hills and mountains that reach nearly 2,000 feet high on the east
side bound the sea. Another contributing factor to the storms is that the Sea of Galilee is only about 200 feet at its deepest, which causes the wind to
create violent waves. The Sea of Galilee is where Jesus performed many of His miracles. Four of apostles–Peter, Andrew, James, and John came to
Jesus after he stilled a ragging storm; this is also, where Jesus and Peter walked on water. The Sea of Galilee also is the backdrop for feeding 5,000
people with only a loaf of bread and two fish. This is also, where Mary of Magdala was from. The Sea of Galilee is present throughout the Bible it is
referenced in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Number, Deuteronomy, Joshua, and 1 Kings.

Jesus Resurrection Research Paper
Jesus' resurrection was the greatest miracle he has planned out and accomplished. We, Christians, must believe that Jesus died and resurrected from the
dead for our salvation. Salvation is a term that means the deliverance from sin and its consequences, believed by Christians to be brought about by faith
in Christ. During the resurrection, the Jews believed Jesus was there to defend and defeat their enemies. They thought wrong. Jesus needed to sacrifice
his own life to save us. Everyone didn't want him to complete this plan. They thought he was crazy and out of his mind for him to put his life on the
line, but Jesus did it anyway. Whenever the Jews told him that he shouldn't be doing this, or telling him that he shouldn't go, he told him that it was the
devil speaking through them and that they're not thinking. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This proportion wanted to kill Jesus. They thought he wasn't the person that was coming to save them. One reason they thought he wasn't Jesus: he
was a poor carpenter, not a military leader/ living lavishly. Another reason for their disbelief: Jesus didn't have any attention to diminish and demolish
their enemies. These theories that they created made Jesus seem fake, and that's why they granted him with blasphemy. Blasphemy is the act or
offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk. The Romans then sentenced him with treason for claiming that he was
"The King of the Jews." Later then crucified, died, buried, and rose from the dead on the 3rd day. This, too, is a doctrine that we Christians must

The Shadow Of The Galilean
The Shadow of the Galilean. By Gerd Theissen. Fortress Press: Minneapolis, 2007, 212 pp., $8.95.
The book begins with the main character, Andreas, being imprisoned for alleged involvement in an anti–Roman riot. He was only there to observe his
friend Barabbas–a dangerous Zealot–but was caught up in the commotion when Roman officers began beating and capturing the demonstrators. Thus
he came to be arrested, and is waiting anxiously in his cell when he is abruptly taken out by guards and brought to an interrogation room. The Roman
officer questions him about his involvement in the event, but Andreas does his best to avoid being connected to the demonstration–and Barabbas–at all
costs. They discuss various problems relating to the submission of the Jews to the Romans, and the events that have thus been brought on by having
Herodian kings and Roman officials ruling their land. It is through this interrogation that the readers get to familiarize themselves with a brief historical
background, before continuing to read about Andreas' adventure. It is also through this period of questioning, that the reader gets to know more about
Andreas himself. It is made clear that he is from a wealthy family, originating from the city of Sepphoris located in Galilee. He mentions that his family
has always been on good terms with the Romans, and that he and his father both make decent money in the grain business; often dealing with patrons
of high status like Herod Antipas. This information

The Literary Genre Of 2 Peter
The literary genre of 2 Peter is an epistle written to the main personalities, an implied group of believers in Asia Minor and other places around that
region. The author is the Apostle Peter a dedicated servant and disciple of Jesus. The date that the letter was written has some controversy, however, in
his correspondence Peter mentions that his life is coming to an end, and Peter was martyred for his faith in Rome about A.D. 64–67. Therefore,
establishing the date of Peter 's second letter within that time frame. Peter wrote out of love to defend and protect the immutable word of God. The
letters main purpose was to warn fellow devotees about false teachers that would try to enter their churches and mislead them in their faith. Peter
goes on to explain the false teachers can be recognized by their prideful behavior, their love of money, and disrespect to God. (Life Application Study
Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past, such as Sodom and Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that
will come to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that will mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ.
He advises the believers to have confidence in the promises, prophecies, and principles given through God's inspired word. (Hindson, Towns) Peter
cautions God will return without warning and find individuals unwary. However, Peter reasons that God is patient and delays His return for
unbelievers, "not

Young Men's Interpretation of fashion According to Frith and Gleeson, men choose fashion trends that help them to manipulate their appearances in
order to meet cultural masculine ideals. Generally, men believe that masculinity entails not caring about how they look (2004). However, they also
seem to be concerned with meeting a cultural ideal with their fashion choices. Frith and Gleeson found that men made conscious fashion choices to
either hide or emphasize certain body parts in order to attain what they perceived as the ideal body image. In addition, it appears that men value
practicality over aesthetic (Frith & Gleeson, 2004). Similarly, Galilee discovered that despite the theory of the masculinization of consumption (the idea
that in recent years, men are increasingly being viewed as consumers), young men viewed an interest in fashion and consumption as lacking
masculinity (2002). Galilee found that young men are unlikely to admit an interest in fashion magazines because they viewed an interest in fashion as
not masculine. Nonetheless, young men appeared to utilize fashion to highlight their individuality as well as their collective identity with their peers
(2002). The results from his interviews suggest that young men often admit to prioritizing quality and

Gospel Of Mark: Summary
In the beginning Gospel of Mark, it states the coming of John the Baptist to make way for Jesus Christ. In John the Baptist's message he states
while he baptizes with water the one to come will baptizes with the Holy Spirit. When Jesus came from Nazareth to be baptized by John the Baptist
in the Jordan River the sky opened and the Holy Spirit came upon him like a dove as he was being baptized. God spoke audibly stating that he was
pleased with his son. Right after this, the Holy Spirit guided Jesus to be in the desert for forty days, in that time he was tempted by Satan. After John

Jesus Calls Us
When kings were crowned in Israel, poems were written for their coronation. This is one of those poems. A new king had come to the throne after
defeating a foreign enemy, bringing in a time of peace and national security. But the question is this. Is this poem written for a king of that time, or is
it a reference to an ideal king, somewhere in the future? Or could it have a dual purpose? There is no reason to doubt that this king that Isaiah is
talking about is a real king, an "anointed one." The word for anointed in Hebrew means Messiah. This king is no longer just an ordinary man but the
chosen and anointed son of God. Think of the hopes we invest in the inauguration of a new president. That's how ... Show more content on

Of course, their hopes were often disappointed, just as are ours. And so, on his anointing, the child "born for us" is named, wonderful counselor,
prince of peace, Mighty God, Everlasting Father. The names for the wonder child, who is also the anointed king, are words of joy and hope that
never lose their power to thrill and command. We, no longer are excited about King Hezekiah, but we still thrill to the titles, whether we hear them
read in Scripture or sung in Handel's Messiah. The words ascribed to an ancient king are fulfilled in Jesus! For Isaiah, the meaning of the poem was
rejoicing and hope for a new King to be born years later. These words evoke in us the expectation and hope for the coming of Christ. Epiphany is a
time of the inbreaking of God once again in human history. The apparent powers of the world are unmasked, revealed to be a sham for all their bluster

goes down the back of the boat and decides to take a nap, but then a huge storm hits. One of the most intriguing aspects of this painting is that
Rembrandt has painting himself on the boat. As if he is an extra disciple. He is not the guy vomiting over the side. He is actually the one holding
onto the rope with one hand and his hat with the other as he looks over directly at us. Meanwhile the disciples go down the back of the boat to wake

How Does Jesus Impact The World

raised in the town of Nazareth in the Roman Province of Galilee, just north of Judea, Jesus spent most of his time doing ministry in Galilee where he
was very successful and also went to Jerusalem to conduct ministry but was rejected and crucified while there. As proclaiming to be the Son of God

Jesus had left Judea and traveled through Samaria on the way to Galilee. While in Samaria, he met the woman at the well in Sychar . After spending
two days in Sychar, he travelled on to Galilee. While there he healed a government official's son.
From Galilee, He traveled back to Jerusalem for a Feast of the Jews. Near the Sheep Gate, at the Pool of Bethesda, He met a man in the crowd of sick
people who had been paralyzed for thirty–eight years.
The scriptures tell us that there were crowds of sick people here. These people suffered from a wide variety of illnesses and were all gathered at the

But later, Jesus came to the man at the Temple and told him to sin no more, now that he was made whole or something worse could happen to him.
I do not believe that all sickness and afflictions are the result of sin. I do believe that sin can and does lead to some maladies. Drug and alcohol abuse
can lead to severe physical and mental illnesses. Immoral sexual behavior can lead to a wide range of health issues. Pride can lead to abnormal dietary
related illnesses and so forth and so on.
I do not believe that Jesus was saying that if you sin you will lose your salvation either. I do believe, however, that if we sin, we are subject to being
punished while we are on this earth and will suffer the consequences of our sinful actions.
The man left Jesus and went to the religious leaders and told them that it was Jesus who had healed him. So they began to harass Jesus for breaking

The third year of Jesus ministry is often called the "Year of Opposition." It is the last of the years of Jesus Christ's public ministry. Following His year

Galalilee Symbolism

  • 1. Galalilee Symbolism In the picture View of the Surf on the Sea of Galilee. Erich Lessing (The photographer) took a picture to capture the form and beauty of the waves hitting the shore at the Sea of Galilee. The picture was taken on 8/03/04. While many might say that it's just a picture and it doesn't mean anything. However, if they just took a deeper look than they could see that every picture has a story and upon viewing this picture of the ocean, the lighting and forms of the waves are not only magnificent, but also evoke deeper emotion and meaning than someone may notice at first glance. The lighting used in the photo View of the Surf on the Sea of Galilee, isn't just there to make the photo look pretty, but it's also there to help the viewer's focus be directed toward what Erich Lessing wants them to see. Personally, the shading and lighting of the photo brings about a sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plus, the way that the waves roll up and then crash down makes me think of the things that once were on a straight road up to greatness, but then took a sharp turn, and came crashing down. When the waves are seen hitting the shore, a sense of calm can come across one's mind. However, everyone has those up–down moments in life, and the image can also allow those moments to re–enter your mind. I don't assume that the image would cause people to become distraught. However, I do believe that the waves going up and down could create a sense of calmness or memory. Every picture has a story and upon going into detail about this picture of the ocean, the lighting and forms of the waves are not only beautiful, but also evoke deeper emotion and meaning than someone may notice at first glance. This picture taken by Erich Lessing can truly create a different meaning, if you just take the time to truly look deeper. Every picture has a story, and although yours might be different than another's. That doesn't mean that it isn't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Synoptic Gospel Comparison The major differences between the Gospel of John and the Synoptic Gospels are the following: 1). According to the Synoptic, Gospel Jesus was working in Galilee and on the last day, he arrives south of Judea whereas the Gospel of John suggests that during Jesus ministry he travels back and forth between Galilee and Jerusalem. 2). The Synoptic Gospel states that official hostility toward Jesus occurred when HE assault the Temple at the end of his career. Nevertheless, the Gospel of John noted it at the beginning of his career(Harris, 2014). 3.) The Synoptic Gospel acknowledge that after John the Baptist imprisonment, Jesus mission begins, but the Gospel of John stated that there was an overlap in both of their mission. 4). • 3. Galilee Chapter 5-6 Summary 5:1. The end of chapter 4 showed that Jesus was going to teach the Scriptures all over Galilee. One day, the multitudes had gathered to hear Jesus teach Gods' word. Jesus not only taught the Scriptures in the synagogue on the Sabbath, but whenever and wherever the opportunity presented itself. 5:2. As the crowd grew and pressed in on Jesus to hear what He was saying, he ended up backed up against the water, and so, not wanting to stand in the water and teach, He decided to get into a boat and teach a little way out from shore. 5:3. The fisherman didn't need their boats while they cleaned the nets, so Jesus got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from land. Maybe Simon was finished with cleaning his nets, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When they had let down the net and started to pull it back in, they found that they had caught a great number of fish. So many that their net was breaking. Although it isn't recorded how many fish were caught. 5:7. So as not to break the net and lose all the fish, they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. Even then, there were so many fish, that they filled both the boats and they began to sink. 5:8. The response of Simon Peter to this miracle reveals some of what he may have been thinking when Jesus asked him to let down his nets after he had just finished cleaning them. I called him Simon Peter here, instead of just Simon, because his apostolic nature starting to emerge 5:9. The reason for Peter's confession of sin is that he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken. The miracle caused amazement, which led to the recognition that Jesus had not asked them to do something ridiculous after all. 5:10. Among these others were James and John, the sons of Zebedee. John may have been one of the first followers of Jesus. Asfishing partners with Simon, they would have shared in the task of cleaning the nets and hauling in the fish, as well as the potential rewards from such a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mary Magdalene From The Sea Of Galilee My Name As we grow up we receive three names in our lives; the ones we receive from our parents, the names our friends call us, and the ones we must make for ourselves. People take names as a serious matter because they tend to judge someone by their names before even getting to know them. The majority of individuals I know either truly accepts their names in its entirety or is completely unpleased with it. For me, I am someone who seems to be just right in the middle of them both. My name (Jessica) can be traced back from an American origin, which means rich, or God beholds. On other hand, my middle name (Magdalena) is taken from the Biblical character, that being Mary Magdalene from the Sea of Galilee. Growing up, I had several moments ... • 5. The Bible: The Calling Of The First Disciples Determine the boundaries of the text: When I started reading this passage, I always thought that the text was clear and so were the boundaries of the text. As I'm reading this, I just see how the before and after parables set–up "The Calling Of The First Disciples." When I reread this parable I feel like something deeper just sticks out at me. I love how Jesus is trying to reveal himself in a simple parable as, "Take a leap of faith and take your boat deeper with me for deeper blessings." The surrounding parables are both on healing, I feel like that, it just shows how people who don't "know" Jesus still will call him Master (vs 5) and will follow him into the deep. In this passage, miracles, teachings and discipleships outline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How often do we avoid putting out into the deep waters of following and bearing witness to Jesus because we are convinced that we will not see any results? What might it mean for us to go fishing with Jesus –– to trust and follow him outside our comfort zones, to let go of our certainties, to have our lives radically reoriented? My Reflection: For me Luke 5:1–11, was a confirmation on my life in the last 5 months. It was a reminder for me that, all is going to be "More than okay" and God has a plan for my for me and He is protecting me. In verse 4 of Luke 5, "When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish." But I love what Simon (Peter) says to Jesus in verse 5, "Master," Simon replied, "we worked hard all last night and didn't catch a thing. But if you say so, I'll let the nets down again." Isn't that our own life? How are we supposed to go deeper with God, if we're second guessing God and afraid of jumping in the boat, and letting God take us deeper. I can only imagine that moment when we surrender ourselves, and let God take us deeper, how much more will God bless us when we let our fishing nets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Charismatic Age: First-Century Galilee Essay The Charismatic Age: First–Century Galilee The long–awaited death in 4 BCE of Herod, the ruthless architect of an oppressive Judean police state, sparked a series of spontaneous revolts by the Jewish peasantry. Once these rebellions were subdued, the Jews continued to chafe under a series of tyrannical Roman governors until the massive revolt of 66–70. This period was marked by "widespread discontent and periodic turbulence." Direct Roman rule, along with the burdensome tribute that accompanied it, was highly offensive to the Jews, who considered themselves subjects only to God. Many, in fact, considered their conditions tantamount to slavery (Horsley and Hanson 34–5). This highly–charged atmosphere reached a fever pitch in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He said he was a prophet, and that at his command the river would be divided and allow them an easy crossing. Through such words he deceived many. But Fadus hardly let them consummate such foolishness. He sent out a cavalry unit against them, which killed many in a surprise attack, though they also took many alive. Having captured Theudas himself, they cut off his head and carried it to Jerusalem. (164) Theudas' attempt to become the new Joshua by parting the waters of the Jordan was not the only example of an ill–fated maneuver by a would–be prophet. Around 56 CE, a Jew who had come originally, or returned recently, from Egypt, took a page from the battle of Jericho: A certain man from Egypt arrived at Jerusalem, saying he was a prophet and advising the mass of the common people to go with him to the Mount of Olives, which is just opposite the city...He said that from there he wanted to show them that at his command the walls of Jerusalem would fall down and they could then make an entry into the city. But when Felix learned of these things, he commanded the soldiers to take up their weapons. Marching from Jerusalem with many horsemen and foot–soldiers, he attacked the Egyptian and his followers, killed four hundred of them and took two hundred alive. The Egyptian himself fled the battle and vanished without a trace. (168) The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pope Francis Research Papers Each year we encounter new people and new events that seemingly shake up the world around us. One of these people whom we encountered in 2013 was Pope Francis. Almost every Christian and non–Christian knows something about Pope Francis. He was named person of the year by Time Magazine, referred to as an inspiration by Catholics around the world, and he seemed to win the hearts of all Christians with his charm. He especially has seemed successful at attracting young adults and millenials to faith, a feat that is usually too difficult for even the most experienced pastor to succeed at doing. Pope Francis certainly became popular in 2013. His charm, his honesty, his devotion to God, and even his ability to be on social media all added... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The missional task of discipleship. How do we prepare ourselves to nurture ourselves or others when they hear a call in their lives such as that of Jesus. A call that simply says "Follow Me." A call toward a life shaped by Jesus for the rest of their days. Maybe it is a call to a specific task, maybe it's a call to a new vocation, or maybe it's a call to make disciples for Jesus. How do we as Christians prepare ourselves and others for this kind of call to discipleship– this kind of life transforming trust and faith in Jesus Christ and what God has planned for our lives? • 8. Mark 16: 1-8 Mark 16: 1–8 reaches its climax in verse 7. Verse 7 contains the message of the angel to the three women to respond to faith and proclaim the resurrection of Christ given by witnessing the divine act by which the stone was rolled away (Dufour, 1974). The angel of God or the young man clothed in a white robe (v. 5) gives a commission to the three women to go and tell the disciples that Jesus Christ will go before them to Galilee. Although Peter is singled out, pointing to his denials of Christ in Mark 14: 68–71, it is important to note that the Easter message was first proclaimed to the three faithful and devoted women of the Christian entourage as pointed out in The Jerome Biblical Commentary (1968). These three faithful women are called to become the first witnesses of the resurrection of Christ and to share the good news with the apostles. • 9. The Original Ending Of The Gospel Of Mark When you open the Gospel of Mark, you will find that it does not end with the eight sections (MK 16:1–8) of the chapter sixteen. Because there are twelve sections (MK 16: 9–20) for the end of the Mark after that eight sections. However, some Bible scholars believe that twelve sections are not the original ending, because its writing style and sentences are obviously different from the Mark. This text is obviously added to the list after Mark. Scholars believe that there are two relatively credible reasons: First, in the early church, some of the scribes tried to make the story's outcome more satisfactory; second, Some Bible scholars believe that the original ending of Mark has been lost, so people tried to make up. It is a common description approaches in the Mark. Of course, Mark was convinced that Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah. However, in the entire of the Mark, he keeps telling us that, there are a lot of people do not know Jesus and many people refused to believe him. Jesus' mother was there and so were some of his friends, namely Andrew, John, James, Peter, and Phillip. A certain governor was invited and he brought some guests. Everyone was dancing and eating, but there was trouble at the back. The servants found out that the grape wine that they prepared was finished. Mary, the mother of Jesus saw their sad faces and she sensed that something was wrong. She asked, "Brothers why the sad face?" "We have out of the wine," they remarked. Mary told them about her son who, was from heaven, but the men seldom believed. Mary knew that they thought she was crazy so she went to Jesus. Jesus was speaking to the guests at the wedding when his mother interrupted and said, "Jesus, can I speak to you aside?" Jesus held her hand and drew aside. Mary said,"We have no wine." ... • 11. Storm On Galilee The Storm on the Sea of Galilee was painted in 1633 by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, a Dutch artist who is claimed to be the best throughout time. The painting was stolen in 1990 from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and has never been seen since. It is depicted from Jesus Calms the Storm which appears in Mathew 8:23, Mark 4:35, and Luke 8:22. Rembrandt did a good job representing the story while keeping a strong artistic value and quality in the painting. The Biblical story of Jesus Calms the Storm appears in the three synoptic gospels of Mathew, Mark, and Luke. The story starts out with Jesus asking his disciples to cross the Sea of Galilee with him. Rembrandt used a triadic color scheme, meaning he used one color with two other colors that are on the opposite side of the color wheel. For example, a majority of the painting is blue while in some parts are yellow and orange/brown. This color scheme also goes into the majority and minority aspect of the painting. A majority of the painting is dark and blue, while the minority of the painting bright and yellow. The majority and minority helps make the painting more interesting and it creates strong contrast with the dark sky and sea. With the front of the boat being the minority and the highest level of contrast, it becomes the main focal point. Light and shadows are another thing Rembrandt did well with. It adds a level of detail that makes the painting more realistic and understandable. There is also a use of psychic lines in the painting, all of the men surrounding Jesus are looking at when which creates another focal point and allows the audience to understand who Jesus ... • 12. The Gospel Of Matthew Is Considered A Gospel The Gospel of Matthew is considered a Gospel based on the premise that it describes the life, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. Translated into narrative form means 'good news' and the preferred standard to communicate the mystery of Christ. A Gospel is the committing to write of a narrative born of the faith–filled vision, theological perspective and pastoral concerns of the evangelist (Mullins 2007, VI). The famous theologian Rudolf Bultmann saw the gospel as an original Christian creation that centered on faith; cult and pastoral concerns arising from and illustrating the Christian Kerygma (Mullins 2007, IV). Numerous studies show that the Gospels of Luke and Matthew contain much material from the Q–source and none in Mark's Gospel. This is significant as the contents of these texts apparently passed down verbally from one generation to another. The M–source on the other hand is a hypothetical textual source likely written by Matthew and defined as special material that is neither Q source nor Markan. The M–source distinguishes itself from both Q and Markan influence with inclusions such as Jesus's Genealogy (Matthew 1:1–17) and the Infant Story (Matthew 1:18–23). The Gospel of Mark or Markan material is plausibly the earliest of the Gospels and an influence to the Lukan and Matthean writings. There are 661 verses in Mark, 606 of those verses appear in Matthew, however Matthew is a simple, easy to read style as compared to that of Mark. Exegesis of Matthew 4:23–25 & 9:35–38 4:23 Teaching and Preaching: There is a difference in these two acts that Jesus practiced. The teaching term is in reference to all things present, while preaching is things yet to come (Aquinas 1993, 142). By the word of divine power he cured the weaknesses of the body and by the medicine of heavenly teaching, he healed the wounds of the soul (Simonetti 2001, 74). • 13. Sea Of Galilee When doing this reaction paper and researching for the perfect religious artwork, the one I decided to choose was Christ walking on the Sea of Galilee. I feel like this piece of artwork spoke and stood out to me when I was looking at different types of religious art. When I was researching religious art, this piece of art was the first one that I saw and I loved it. Some comments on this specific painting that stood out to me and I thought were important were the colors in the painting. I like how the artist used colors to make the painting dark, gloomy and stormy. I like the different textures of the waves and the clouds in the painting. I thought this religious art was interesting, because it does not show Christ face it only shows the back so that is why, I think the painting is focusing more so on the boat, the apostles in the boat and the water rather than Christ is face. When doing research on this religious art the meaning of the of the art is that Christ is saving and protecting his apostles from danger in the Sea of Galilee. I thought this piece of art was interesting, because I thought it showed important relationship between Jesus and his apostles. Also, this painting shows that the apostles were in fear and when they saw Christ standing on the Sea of Galilee they thought he was a ghost. The main point of this religious artwork was that the apostles were so terrified when they saw Jesus because, they did not recognize him. They had faith that Christ would come, but the fear overcame them and they could not recognize Christ. In this painting fear blinds the faith the apostles had in Jesus ... • 16. Rembrandt's Christ In The Storm On The Sea Of Galilee A painting captures a single moment. Most of the time, the audience does not see what happens before and after the moment of the piece, but Rembrandt's Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee is his depiction of Mark 4:35:39, a story that most children learn in Sunday School. Mark 4:35–36 tells the moments before the storm: "On that day, when evening had come, He told them, 'Let's cross over to the other side of the sea.' So they left the crowd and took Him along since He was already in the boat. And other boats were with Him" (The Bible). For this purpose, Rembrandt uses the storm to symbolize the hard times, or "storms", in a person's life. In this case, the strength of the storm is overpowering the boat, making it hard for the disciples to keep the boat from being destroyed and overtaken. By looking at the picture, the storm has cause one of the riggings to break free from the boat and tore the sail, not standing a chance against the strong winds the storm is throwing at them. When the Gospel of Thomas was discovered in December of 1945 at Nag Hammadi, Egypt, many people questioned if this book belonged with the other four gospels. Thomas (Hebrew) or Didymus (Greek) also nicknamed as "Doubting Thomas," described as a man who would not believe until he saw it with his own two eyes. He ceaselessly questioned and was misanthropic about Jesus while the other eleven disciples believed from the beginning. Thomas's book was full of Jesus's sayings whereas the other four books contains Jesus's sayings as well, but in a story format that starts from the beginning of when Jesus was born to the day he resurrects from the dead. Similarly, the author of John 4:44 records "(for Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in the prophet's own country)." As stated earlier, Thomas has no specific timeline. John's proverb sits in the context of when Jesus returns to Galilee. Galilee was a country that sits on top of Judea. Nazareth is in the lower part of Galilee. It is known that Jesus was born in Nazareth, but travelled to upper Galilee because he knew the residents there would receive him warmly as they heard of his miracles. Although this statement is ironic when first reading it, it corresponds with the fact that he is from Nazareth; there was no welcome committee to when he began to give God's words to the residents. It is with assumption that the residents of Nazareth belittled him and did not believe until he performed his phenomenon. This can also be interpreted as although one can be infamous within one's city or country, but when leaving the city or country that one person is better known outside, as the residents in town will speak about said person until it ... Jesus exposes to the Pharisees that his point was to call sinners to repentance. The tradition of table fellowship was quite common among the Pharisees (Green 244). The dinner represents a festive event, depicting Levi's leaving everything. By leaving everything, Levi has repented (Green 246). Detailed Analysis Luke's talents include being an artist and a theologian. He was a master of Greek and can write elegantly in Greek. In his gospel, he uses a larger vocabulary than that of Matthew and Mark (McKenzie 525). The Gospel of Luke was considered historical content that is still referred to Lukan themes today (McKenzie 525). Jesus and his morals are detailed in the gospel. Both are addressed to the same person (Theophilus) and both have cross–references to one another. Synthesis There are a couple lessons to be learned in this passage. The first is that Jesus reaches out to those who need him the most. Jesus reaches out to Levi in the passage because he needs him the most. The second is the Jesus is trying to recruit the poor

We, Christians, must believe that Jesus died and resurrected from the dead for our salvation. Salvation is a term that means the deliverance from sin and its consequences, believed by Christians to be brought about by faith in Christ. During the resurrection, the Jews believed Jesus was there to defend and defeat their enemies. They thought wrong. Jesus needed to sacrifice his own life to save us. Everyone didn't want him to complete this plan. They thought he was crazy and out of his mind for him to put his life on the line, but Jesus did it anyway. Whenever the Jews told him that he shouldn't be doing this, or telling him that he shouldn't go, he told him that it was the devil speaking through them and that they're not thinking. ... One reason they thought he wasn't Jesus: he was a poor carpenter, not a military leader/ living lavishly. Another reason for their disbelief: Jesus didn't have any attention to diminish and demolish their enemies. These theories that they created made Jesus seem fake, and that's why they granted him with blasphemy. Blasphemy is the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk. The Romans then sentenced him with treason for claiming that he was "The King of the Jews." Later then crucified, died, buried, and rose from the dead on the 3rd day. This, too, is a doctrine that we Christians must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Shadow Of The Galilean The Shadow of the Galilean. By Gerd Theissen. Fortress Press: Minneapolis, 2007, 212 pp., $8.95. The book begins with the main character, Andreas, being imprisoned for alleged involvement in an anti–Roman riot. He was only there to observe his friend Barabbas–a dangerous Zealot–but was caught up in the commotion when Roman officers began beating and capturing the demonstrators. Thus he came to be arrested, and is waiting anxiously in his cell when he is abruptly taken out by guards and brought to an interrogation room. The Roman officer questions him about his involvement in the event, but Andreas does his best to avoid being connected to the demonstration–and Barabbas–at all costs. They discuss various problems relating to the submission of the Jews to the Romans, and the events that have thus been brought on by having Herodian kings and Roman officials ruling their land. It is through this interrogation that the readers get to familiarize themselves with a brief historical background, before continuing to read about Andreas' adventure. It is also through this period of questioning, that the reader gets to know more about Andreas himself. It is made clear that he is from a wealthy family, originating from the city of Sepphoris located in Galilee. He mentions that his family has always been on good terms with the Romans, and that he and his father both make decent money in the grain business; often dealing with patrons of high status like Herod Antipas. • 34. The Literary Genre Of 2 Peter The literary genre of 2 Peter is an epistle written to the main personalities, an implied group of believers in Asia Minor and other places around that region. The author is the Apostle Peter a dedicated servant and disciple of Jesus. The date that the letter was written has some controversy, however, in his correspondence Peter mentions that his life is coming to an end, and Peter was martyred for his faith in Rome about A.D. 64–67. Therefore, establishing the date of Peter 's second letter within that time frame. Peter wrote out of love to defend and protect the immutable word of God. The letters main purpose was to warn fellow devotees about false teachers that would try to enter their churches and mislead them in their faith. Peter goes on to explain the false teachers can be recognized by their prideful behavior, their love of money, and disrespect to God. (Life Application Study Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past, such as Sodom and Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that will come to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that will mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ. He advises the believers to have confidence in the promises, prophecies, and principles given through God's inspired word. (Hindson, Towns) Peter cautions God will return without warning and find individuals unwary. However, Peter reasons that God is patient and delays His return for unbelievers, "not ... Young Men's Interpretation of fashion According to Frith and Gleeson, men choose fashion trends that help them to manipulate their appearances in order to meet cultural masculine ideals. Generally, men believe that masculinity entails not caring about how they look (2004). However, they also seem to be concerned with meeting a cultural ideal with their fashion choices. Frith and Gleeson found that men made conscious fashion choices to either hide or emphasize certain body parts in order to attain what they perceived as the ideal body image. In addition, it appears that men value practicality over aesthetic (Frith & Gleeson, 2004). Similarly, Galilee discovered that despite the theory of the masculinization of consumption (the idea that in recent years, men are increasingly being viewed as consumers), young men viewed an interest in fashion and consumption as lacking masculinity (2002). Galilee found that young men are unlikely to admit an interest in fashion magazines because they viewed an interest in fashion as not masculine. Nonetheless, young men appeared to utilize fashion to highlight their individuality as well as their collective identity with their peers (2002). The results from his interviews suggest that young men often admit to prioritizing quality and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Gospel Of Mark: Summary In the beginning Gospel of Mark, it states the coming of John the Baptist to make way for Jesus Christ. In John the Baptist's message he states while he baptizes with water the one to come will baptizes with the Holy Spirit. When Jesus came from Nazareth to be baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River the sky opened and the Holy Spirit came upon him like a dove as he was being baptized. God spoke audibly stating that he was pleased with his son. Right after this, the Holy Spirit guided Jesus to be in the desert for forty days, in that time he was tempted by Satan. After John was put in prison. Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the good news. As he walked along the sea of Galilee he approached Simon and Andrew who he told to follow him. ... Immediately, Jesus rebuke him telling the spirit to leave the man. Since the people were in wonder, news of Jesus spread rapidly through Galilee. After leaving the synagogue they went to Simon and Andrew house. Simon's mother–in–law had a fever. Jesus went to her and soon as he touched her the fever left. When evening drew near, all the sick and demon–possessed were brought to Jesus who he began to heal, but those with demons Jesus would not let them mention his name. In the morning, Jesus went out to find a private place to pray. His disciples went in search of him. When they found Jesus, he explained he needed to teach abroad. So they left and began to teach throughout Galilee in the synagogues. A man with leprosy came to Jesus for healing. • 37. Jesus Calls Us Isaiah 9:1–4 1 Corinthians 1:10–18 Matthew 4:12–23 Jesus Calls Us When kings were crowned in Israel, poems were written for their coronation. This is one of those poems. A new king had come to the throne after defeating a foreign enemy, bringing in a time of peace and national security. But the question is this. Is this poem written for a king of that time, or is it a reference to an ideal king, somewhere in the future? Or could it have a dual purpose? There is no reason to doubt that this king that Isaiah is talking about is a real king, an "anointed one." The word for anointed in Hebrew means Messiah. This king is no longer just an ordinary man but the chosen and anointed son of God. Think of the hopes we invest in the inauguration of a new president. That's how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, their hopes were often disappointed, just as are ours. And so, on his anointing, the child "born for us" is named, wonderful counselor, prince of peace, Mighty God, Everlasting Father. The names for the wonder child, who is also the anointed king, are words of joy and hope that never lose their power to thrill and command. We, no longer are excited about King Hezekiah, but we still thrill to the titles, whether we hear them read in Scripture or sung in Handel's Messiah. The words ascribed to an ancient king are fulfilled in Jesus! For Isaiah, the meaning of the poem was rejoicing and hope for a new King to be born years later. These words evoke in us the expectation and hope for the coming of Christ. Epiphany is a time of the inbreaking of God once again in human history. The apparent powers of the world are unmasked, revealed to be a sham for all their bluster and posturing. During Epiphany, we recognize God's inbreaking in Jesus Christ, setting in stark relief the false, worldly powers that claim so much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Storm On The Sea Of Galilee Analysis The 1633 masterpiece The Storm on the Sea of Galilee was stolen in 1990, and it's never been found. If you enter the Boston Museum today all you'll see is eerie sight of an empty frame. This painting is based on the story of Jesus and his twelve disciples sailing on the sea of Galilee. Jesus goes down the back of the boat and decides to take a nap, but then a huge storm hits. One of the most intriguing aspects of this painting is that Rembrandt has painting himself on the boat. As if he is an extra disciple. He is not the guy vomiting over the side. He is actually the one holding onto the rope with one hand and his hat with the other as he looks over directly at us. Meanwhile the disciples go down the back of the boat to wake up Jesus. Why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. How Does Jesus Impact The World Many people throughout history have achieved to make a great impact within their community and all over the world. My favorite would have to be Jesus. Never has there been a man who has had such an impact on the world we live in today is Jesus. Born in the Roman Province of Judea and raised in the town of Nazareth in the Roman Province of Galilee, just north of Judea, Jesus spent most of his time doing ministry in Galilee where he was very successful and also went to Jerusalem to conduct ministry but was rejected and crucified while there. As proclaiming to be the Son of God and the prophesied Messiah to lead and save the world. This proved to be very controversial as many Jews thought that he was committing blasphemy and others accepting and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Galilee Research Paper Jesus had left Judea and traveled through Samaria on the way to Galilee. While in Samaria, he met the woman at the well in Sychar . After spending two days in Sychar, he travelled on to Galilee. While there he healed a government official's son. From Galilee, He traveled back to Jerusalem for a Feast of the Jews. Near the Sheep Gate, at the Pool of Bethesda, He met a man in the crowd of sick people who had been paralyzed for thirty–eight years. The scriptures tell us that there were crowds of sick people here. These people suffered from a wide variety of illnesses and were all gathered at the Pool of Bethesda because they wanted to be healed. According to Jewish tradition an angel moved the waters at certain times and healed the sick. The scriptures tell us that Jesus saw this man lying near the pool and knew he had been ill for a long time. Jesus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But later, Jesus came to the man at the Temple and told him to sin no more, now that he was made whole or something worse could happen to him. I do not believe that all sickness and afflictions are the result of sin. I do believe that sin can and does lead to some maladies. Drug and alcohol abuse can lead to severe physical and mental illnesses. Immoral sexual behavior can lead to a wide range of health issues. Pride can lead to abnormal dietary related illnesses and so forth and so on. I do not believe that Jesus was saying that if you sin you will lose your salvation either. I do believe, however, that if we sin, we are subject to being punished while we are on this earth and will suffer the consequences of our sinful actions. The man left Jesus and went to the religious leaders and told them that it was Jesus who had healed him. So they began to harass Jesus for breaking the Sabbath laws. Jesus told them that God is always working and therefore He was always working. This angered the leaders because Jesus was saying that He was equal to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Jesus Ministry Research Paper The third year of Jesus ministry is often called the "Year of Opposition." It is the last of the years of Jesus Christ's public ministry. Following His year of popularity Jesus' ministry began to decline. The Jewish leaders that were against Jesus from the beginning of his ministry continued to challenge his claims of being the Son of God as well as his teachings, He was a threat to their power and control and they were determined to put him to death. While Jesus was in Galilee his ministry, which had begun promisingly, had begun to die down, partly through the open and active hostility of the Pharisees, as well as enthusiasm for the Teacher and Prophet began to lessen. Jesus goes out to the disciples, not by boat but walking on the water. The disciples were terrified when they saw Him coming, thinking Jesus was a Ghost. Peter replies to Jesus by saying, "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water," (Matthew 14:28) Jesus tells him to come and Peter climbs out of the boat and walks on the water, until he loses his focus, he begins to sink, Peter cries out to Jesus! Jesus immediately puts out his hand and caught him. They returned to the boat, everyone on the boat worshiped Jesus saying, "Of a truth thou art the Son of God."
