relationships and a satisfying interaction with people
• Happiness is linked to social interaction so understanding
social and emotional development is crucial
• Our project consists of a statistical analysis using a survey that
targets AUI students.

Development?
• We can’t talk about emotional development without
associating it with social development because the emotional
shaping of our personalities occurs within a social construct
• It refers to a child’s capacity for self-confidence,trust,empathy
as well as the capacity to develop competencies in language
usage and cognitive curiosity.
• It’s a predictor of academic,social and emotional success
• Main factors that affect social-emotional development are :
• Biology : Genetic influence
• Relationships : bonds with primary caregivers and others
• Environment : abuse,violence,poverty
5. Variables Assesed in The
Survey
1. Gender : Male or Female
2. Personality : Achiever,Mediator,Thinker,Entertainer
3. Attitude : Positive,Negative,Between
4. Mindset : Positive,Negative,Between
5. Emotional Stabillity : Positive,Negative,Between
6. Rank in Family : Elder,Younger,Medium,None
7. Parents
8. Parents’ Mental Health : Low, Medium, High
9. Parents’ Awareness : Low, Medium, High
10. Responsibilities : Low, Medium, High
11. Neighborhood : Low, Medium, High
12. Economical Growth : Low, Medium, High
13. Highschool System
16. Output Interpretation
• Y= β0+β1 x1= 0.20-0.54x1
• An increase of one unit in the age rank causes a decrease of
0.54 in responsibilities.
17. Hypothesis Testing 1 : Age
Rank and Emotional Stability
• Null Hypothesis H0 : Age rank has no effect on emotional
stability
• Alternate Hypothesis H1 : The higehr the age rank the higher
the emotional stability.
• Types of tests used (2) :
• t-Test: Two-Sample Assuming Unequal Variances
• F-Test Two-Sample for Variances
20. Hypothesis Testing 2 : Age
Rank and Responsability
• Null Hypothesis H0 : Age rank has no effect on amount of
responsability.
• Alternate Hypothesis H1 : Age rank has an impact on amount
of responsability.
23. General Discussion
• Factors that might cause the effect of age rank on emotional
stability :
• Feelings of jealousy
• Social and Financial Pressure on family upon arrival of newborns
24. Conclusion
• Survey conducted on 90 AUI Students about Emotional
Stability
• Descriptive statistics techniques were used in order to analyze
the data firsthand.
• Inferential statistics tools were used to dig deeper and explore
relationships between variables (regression) and test
hypothesis.
• Hypothesis : The higher the ange rank the higher the
emotional stability
• 2/3 of the tests indicated its validity with confidence interval
of 95%
