In the last few decades, there has been a push for integrating technology within the classroom. Technologies has become commonly associated with the
activities of everyday life, as a result, there has been increased pressure to include technology in classrooms, kindergarten through twelfth grade since
the 1980s. (page #?Grant et al., 2015). This technology push has only increased since the last century; educators are no longer responsible for teaching
the 'traditional' reading, writing, and arithmetic pedagogy of the past. In respect, students are no longer viewed in the same 'blank slates,' but as
collaborators in their learning. This collaboration is effective in preparing students for the job market of the future, in which these technologies will be
ever present and constantly changing.
In the 21st century, teachers and students have access to a constantly evolving series of technologies which has facilitated a continued interest in how to
use these types of technology in educational environments. Through the incorporation of educational technology models and theories, the practitioner's
focus is specifically on how technology can be used to improve student performance through processes, procedures, and tools. Processes and procedures
may comprise any task or intervention involving anything from a simple instructional strategy to a complex instructional system.

These videos were such a big hit, Khan quit his job to make the Khan Academy, a nonprofit online educational platform that holds many videos
containing lectures on a variety of topics. The Khan Academy is used by many schools today and has proven to be successful to most classrooms as

As Rodriguez became more involved with his academics he drifted further away from his family. The intimacy once shared between them was

I have experience in both learning from the traditional classroom and learning from the online setting. I can easily identify the differences between
these two types of learning environments. The two main differences can be divided by two categories which are flexibility and class discussions

Advances in technology have made it possible for the instruction to move beyond teacher delivered material in class followed by a review of the
material by students in the form of homework (Steed, 2012). In theory, if the students are in control of the pace of their learning, their outcomes will
be better. Students, who are able to absorb new material at home, will come to class prepared to put the knowledge into practice and thus reinforce

The first distinction between learning in an online classroom versus that of a traditional brick and mortar classroom is that of time. Students log into
their virtual classroom at times of their choosing to learn and complete assignments. The virtual campus that we use has click functions that are set

In Chapter three of the readings Atwell discusses the importance of setting the tone and establishing structure, organization, and routines during the
first week of class. She explains that as a teacher a lot of time is put into preparation for the first week of school because she wants the students to
leave excited about the class, the material and her as a teacher, which helps set the tone for the rest of the yr. In addition, she mentioned that it is
equally important for her to establish "her role as a teacher, writer, reader of books, responder to literature, and a lover and unpacker of poems"
(Atwell,2015). I believe that anybody that has ever worked with children, whether it be in the classroom or coaching sports would agree with her
position about establishing a firm foundation and routine during the first week or the beginning of every week, because it will carry on throughout the
course of the year or week. The last thing you as a teacher or coach want to do is to scare or intimidate the students, hurt their confidence, or make
them dread coming to your class. I don't think that's any teacher's real intension, although it happens all too often. Have you had an experience with a
teacher who hurt your confidence or that made you dislike the subject or class? Unfortunately, I have had many teachers whom acted as though they
just didn't care about the students or our success, and that attitude from our teacher/leadership person truly does rub off on the students. I had one
science teacher in high school, Miss Whitney whom was very abrasive yet passionate about the subject to the point of overcomplicating the
assignments and confusing the students. I still dislike science to this day and I believe it stems from that experience. The unfortunate thing is that it
only takes one bad experience for a student to shut down and withdraw from the classroom activities, so in my opinion it is very important for the
teacher not only to care about the student's success, but also recognize much like Atwell that they need to change the way they are doing things to get
kids more engaged in the materials, and accept the fact that hands on enjoyment and fun activities are just as effective learning tools as traditional

Attending A Traditional Classroom Setting
I have been fortunate enough to attend college in a traditional classroom setting as well as an online setting; I can say for my academic journey the
online setting better suited my learning type. When I graduated high school I went to a traditional university, I did not do well and ended withdrawing
and failing classes. I attended an online university a few years later and found that it was a lot more conducive to my learning style. The traditional
college setting may be better suited for students that may need more structure for learning. Sitting in a classroom with a professor telling you
exactly what assignments are, and when they are due is needed for some students. In a traditional college setting the professor will stand in front
of the class and give a lecture, at times this lecture will be far from what is needed and filled with those professors' personal opinions. Then at a
time where you will be given an exam, the material was given is nothing of what the professor lectured on. So in essence, the student will have to sit
and listen to a professor lecture and then do their own reading and research. When attending an online program, the student is responsible for making
the time to read, study, and complete the necessary work. Myself, I cannot say that I will be able to carve out two to four hours a couple times a

Difference Between Learning And Traditional Classroom
I believe the major difference between learning in a traditional classroom versus an online environment is flexibility. In traditional classrooms, they
provide a structured environment in which one learns. The student shows up at a particular time; the instructor presents the information, the student
takes the information and tests to see whether he or she retained the information. (Chambers, 2016)
One benefit to the traditional classroom is face to face interactions. Being in a traditional classroom setting is comfortable because that 's the
environment that most of us remember from childhood. Now online classes are typical for those of us who work different shifts and people with hectic
lifestyles.
With the flexibility of online classes, one works at his convenience. The ability to stop and continue later while not being locked into a particular
time or day is beneficial to the working adult. Not having to get dressed, travel to a location, and arrive at an appropriate time takes a lot of stress off
an individual that works and has children. Being able to communicate one on one with your instructor privately and online resources at your fingertips
like the library are other differences.
However just like everything else with benefits, there must also be some obstacles. Some challenges I see to online learning include self–discipline,

Technologies have its own share of advantages and disadvantages. Technology can be a boon in disguise or it can work in opposite way. In past,
several learning institutes have tried applying new and latest technologies to enhance the teaching experience. Technology needs to be analysed
methodically to estimate the benefits. The technology we discussed and recommend includes Webex, classroom recording which facilitate
collaborative online interactive sessions. These technology have played important role in making teaching more flexible and beneficial to students
and teachers. Many universities across the world have started using online interactive sessions for teaching. This is also known as online tutoring or
online course. As of now, major US universities including MIT and Harvard are offering online courses. It has its own unique selling point of location

In life there are always positive and negative things in life, there are always two sides to look at. In this case I'm talking about whether I think that
traditional classroom setting is better for the students or if online is better. I know I'm about to contradict myself but honestly there is no right or

options. Students are able to choose whether they want to complete their education through online learning, rather than in a traditional classroom. As, a

I would say online learning is more hard because I think there is a lot of unnecessary 1busy work assigned in my personal opinion than a classroom
setting. Online learning has advantages as well such as being in the convenience of one's own home and having the flexibility to an individual to watch

2. I am an activist. Walking into ETST 111 on the first day I was excited to critically analyze the history and repercussion of predominate movements
that have undoubtedly affected the way in which society works today. Moreover, I was intrigued as to how my previous work as an activist will

The structure of the classroom is designed about an enclosed four wall space, where each breadth is shorter and deeper than the one before, is
claustrophobic and impossible. The state has indoctrinated us to believe that the optimal learning experience is held inside impacted classrooms that
have a disproportionate teach to student ratio. This phenomenon is clearly seen in our own classroom, where the own classroom that we are assigned
for the quarter was specifically designed to facilitate discussion through different resources allocated throughout the room which in return remained
useless due to the impacted tables implemented in the classroom to accommodate an overcrowded upper division class. I critique the space we were
assigned to because for the whole quarter the class was structured mainly around class discussion. I found the whole situation an oxymoron simply

During my educational journey I have experienced learning online and in a traditional classroom setting. Working in a classroom allowed me to
receive a more hands on approach with my learning from my instructor. Learning in person helped me to seek help if I was confused, ask questions,
and receive a response immediately. Upon completing my work assignments, I was able to work side by side with my classmates and collaborate, and
work as a team. Most importantly, everything is at your fingertips such as your class material and a physical textbook. In addition, in a classroom

However, learning online is totally a different ball game. When learning online most of the time there is no test or quizzes involved, you work at
your own pace, and the only material you will need is your computer. Working at your own pace helps because, it allows you to work ahead and

having to travel to a physical classroom. Your work is available at any time of the day. Everything I needed was in my computer so I didn't have to
keep up with any material or purchase any. However, learning online, helps you to focus more with fewer distractions around you, but leaves you

I, myself, have found that I do try to multi–task with several different things in a days time. I find that if you focus on one thing at a time, it helps you
understand it better. I plan on working towards just doing one thing at a time; by first learning not to rush things so I have time to do it. With kids,
