“Effectiveness of assertive training on

among staff nurses working in selected
hospital.”
3. AIM - Asses the Level of Effectiveness of assertive training on
level of assertiveness and self esteem among staff nurses
working in selected hospital and will apply this knowledge in
his/her daily clinical responsibilities.
OBJECTIVES –
1. To assess level of effectiveness of assertive training on level
of assertiveness among staff nurses in selected hospitals.
2.To assess level of effectiveness of assertive training on level of
self esteem among staff nurses in selected hospitals.
3.To find the association of study findings with selected
demographic variables.
4. HYPOTHESIS:-
H0 There is no significant effect of assertive training on the level of
assertiveness and self esteem among staff nurses working in
selected hospital of the city.
H1 There is significant effect of assertive training on the level of
assertiveness and self esteem among staff nurses working in
selected hospital of the city.
5. NEED FOR STUDY
Assertiveness means expressing your point of view in a way
that is clear and direct, while still respecting
others.Communicating in an assertive manner can help you to -
minimize conflict,control anger,have your needs better
met,have more positive relationships with friends, family and
others.
Staff nurses are the basic caretakers of todays health
systems.they are the backbone of health services.so,it is very
important to inculcate assertive behaviour in staff nurses
because it will ultimately help to improve the care of the
patients if the staff nurses are assertive in their behaviour
6. Material And Method :-
a) Research Setting: Selected hospitals of the city.
b) Duration of study - 1 month.
c) Method of selection of study subject:-
Inclusion criteria :-
Staff nurses Willing to participate.
GNM, Basic. Bsc. nursing, M.sc nursing.
Able to understand English / Marathi language(s).
Exclusion criteria:
Staff nurses those who passed M.Sc. nursing with psychiatric nursing And Diploma in psychiatry
nursing.
Staff nurses who have undergone assertive training.
Staff nurses are unavailable at the time of study.
7. Material And Method :-
d) Sample size : minimum 60 samples will be selected . Non-
probability sampling technique.
e) Population
Target population : staff nurses of selected hospitals of
all over Maharashtra.
Accessible population : staff nurses of selected
hospitals of the city.
8. SAMPLE SIZE
N = sample size
P= 19%( Proportion of Success of assertive training on staff nurses)
Q = 100 – P = 100-19 = 81%
Zα = Standard Normal Variate for α= 0.05 (95% CI)=1.96
Confidence level= 95% Power= 80% Absolute precision=E= 10%

Research Design : one group pre test-post test research design
Research Approach : Quantitative research approach.
