What is it?
• Outcomes research examines the end results
of health services on individuals and its
intentions to provide scientific evidence
relating to decisions made by all who
participate in health care. Schmidt and
Brown(2015)

4. Best Treatment Results
• Combined Assessment of Psychiatric
Environments (CAPE)
• 30 Patients and 30 Nurses were surveyed
– Patients were asked about their satisfaction of
care
– Nurses were asked about their nursing work
environment

5. Results of Cape Survey
• Through this survey it brought awareness
about what the patients feel about their care,
recovery,& experiences they went through
• Findings found were that the surveys worked
so well together that it contributed to the
measurement of what matters most to mental
health patients
• CAPE study has been presented as a study to
professional meetings at Rush University

6. Limitations/Non-Impact Outcomes
• Nurses survey questions were ambiguous due to
asking general questions, e.g. do they feel safe
– This all depends on the nurses experience, other staff
members available at the time of work duty and what
department they work in
• These answers are limiting
• Future research studies will include patients who
have been in restraints vs. those who have not
