values. Professional nursing values are defined
as important professional nursing principles of
human dignity, integrity, altruism, and justice
that serve as a framework for standards,
professional practice, and evaluation.
Values play a key role in any profession
including the nursing profession.

The study aims to explore the impact of
professional values on nursing practice
emphasizing their role in enhancing patient care
quality, nurses job satisfaction, organizational
commitment
It seeks to understand how adherence to these
values contributes to better patient outcomes and
nurse well-being within healthcare settings

6. OPERATIONAL DEFINITION
Importance: Refers to the degree to which
nurses prioritize and integrate ethical principles,
such as integrity, compassion, and respect, into
their daily clinical decision-making and patient
interactions.
Professional Values: observable behaviours,
attitudes, and decisions exhibited by nurses in
their practice that align with ethical principles and
standards
Care giver role: refers to the comprehensive
application of nursing knowledge, skills, and
principles to promote, maintain, and restore health
and well-being in individuals, families, and

Hypothesis:1- Nurses who demonstrate
higher levels of professional values will exhibit
better care giving roles compared to those with
lower levels of professional values.
Hypothesis 2:-There will be a positive
correlation between the degree of adherence
to professional values and the perceived
importance of care giving roles among nurses.
8. Criteria for selection of
sample
Inclusion criteria:
Nurses working in TMMH Thiruvalla
Nurses who are involved in direct
care of the patients
Nurses who have more than 6
months of clinical experience
Nurses who are willing to participate
and sign informed written consent.

The Nurses Professional Values
Scale--Revised (NPVS-R) is an
instrument derived from the American
Nurses Association Code of Ethics for
Nurses designed to measure nurses’
professional values
The NPVS-R includes 26 items with a
Likert-scale format in five dimensions:
1) trust: 5 items, 2) justice: 3 items, 3)
professionalism: 4 items, 4) activism: 5
items, and 5) caring: 9 items
