KUALA LUMPUR: Kejadian beratus-ratus bangkai ikan ditemui terapung di
permukaan Sungai Gombak awal bulan ini, dipercayai bukannya berpunca
daripada pencemaran. Pengarah Jabatan Alam Sekitar (JAS) Kuala Lumpur,
Nor Aziah Jaafar berkata hasil siasatan awal, pihaknya percaya punca
kematian ikan itu kebanyakannya jenis tilapia, disebabkan hujan lebat
sehingga menyebabkan sedimen dasar sungai naik akibat arus deras, dan
menutupi insang ikan itu.
KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds of dead fishes were found floating on the surface
of the Gombak River earlier this month, believed to be not due to pollution.
Kuala Lumpur Department of Environment (DOE) director Nor Aziah Jaafar
said preliminary investigations revealed that the cause of the fish's death was
mostly tilapia, due to heavy rains that caused the river's sediment to rise due
to high currents, and covered the gills.
