Product
This product will be a fashion spread for my teen lifestyle magazine Conqueror
Theme
The theme of this product is “Freedom of style” (urban style)
Model
The model in which I will be using is Priestley student Alisha Fenlon.
Locations
Priestley college

Outfit 1: Black ripped jeans, kiss me hoodie.
Outfit 2: Blue jeans with a black New York top
Outfit 3: Black jeans with a white simple top.
Outfit 4: Black jeans with a crop top, flannel top and a puffer coat.

Preliminary date: I will aim to shoot these pictures on the 28/02/2017 – 01/03/2017. But
this date is due to change.
Contingency plans
Battery – make sure that I have a spare, fully charged battery.
Model – if my model cannot attend for any reason I will have a replacement who will step in
for them if they can’t come
Outfits – will also bring spare outfit, that are suitable for my theme, so that if the models
clothes are not appropriate I will be able to provide a replacement

Copyright Designs and Patents act 1988
What is the Copyright Designs and Patents act 1988 about?
The Copyright Designs and Patents act 1988 “Gives the creators of literary, dramatic,
musical and artistic works the right to control the ways in which their material may be used.
The rights cover: Broadcast and public performance, copying, adapting, issuing, renting and
lending copies to the public. In many cases, the creator will also have the right to be
identified as the author and to object to distortions of his work.” – source. It is a civil law
which means that the person with the copyright has to sued the person who stole their media
product.
When producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content in which I create is mine
and not the product of any other creator. I will also ensure that no one else copies my
content. Any content Include I will research first to make sure that it’s not someone else’s
content.
Equality act 2010
What is the equality act 2010 about?
It is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of:
o age
o being or becoming a transsexual person
o being married or in a civil partnership
o being pregnant or on maternity leave
o disability
o race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
o religion, belief or lack of religion/belief
o sex
o sexual orientation
when producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content in which include does not
discriminate against or offend any social group or any of my target audience.
Obscene publication act 1959 - 1963
What is the Obscene publication act 1959 - 1963 about?
Obscene publication act 1959 – 1963 refers to the law that has been put into place to make
it a crime to publish something for gain or not for gain which intends to corrupt or ruin those
who read, hear or see the matter contained. This could consist of extremely sexual images,
bestiality etc.
When producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content that I include is not seen as
provocative for the audience and is also suitable for my target audience of Priestley
students.
Defamation act 2013
Libel - is written applies to newspapers and magazines
Slander - is spoken applies to Radio
What is the Deformation act 2013 about?
The defamation act 2013 is in place to draw a line between freedom of expression and the
damaging the reputation of others. This is a civil law and therefore means that the person
whom reputation is being destroyed has to sue the offender in order for it to be a breach of
the British Bill. The person suing has to prove that the information given out was damaging
to their reputation.
When producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content in which Include cannot
damage the reputation of anyone, especially as it is a college I must ensure that it does not
damage the image of another student.

Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life his home and his
correspondence. There shall be no interference by a public authority with the exercise of this
right except such as is in accordance
with the law and is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security
public safety or the economic wellbeing of the country for the prevention of disorder or crime
for the protection of health or morals or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of other
when I am producing my fashion spread I will ensure that I do not break the law by realising
someone’s private information. I will also get my model to sign a consent form to say that
they give me permission to use their photographs, however they will be made aware that
they are free to withdraw from the shoot at any given point.

The independent press standards Organisation
The independent press standards Organisation is the independent regulator for the
newspaper and magazine industry in the UK. The hold newspapers and magazine to
account for their actions, protect individual rights, uphold high standards of journalism and
help to maintain freedom of expression for the press.
 We make sure that member newspapers and magazines follow the Editors' Code.
 We investigate complaints about printed and online material that may breach the
Editors’ Code.
 We can make newspapers and magazines publish corrections or adjudications if
they breach the Editors’ Code (including on their front page).
 We monitor press standards and require member newspapers and magazines to
submit an annual statement about how they follow the Editors’ Code and handle
any complaints.
 We can investigate serious standards failings and can fine publishers up to £1
million in cases where they are particularly serious and systemic.
 We operate a 24-hour anti-harassment advice line.
 We provide advice for editors and journalists.
 We provide training and guidance for journalists so they can uphold the highest
possible standards.
 We provide a Whistleblowing Hotline for journalists who feel they are being
pressured to act in a way that is not in line with the Editors' Code.
 We work with charities, NGOs and other organisations to support and improve
press standards.
I will follow all expectations of IPSO when producing my fashion spread. I will do this by
being thorough when writing and monitor the content of my fashion spread making sure that
the photographs and any text use is not offensive and is appropriate to be printed
considering carefully my target audience.
Editors code of practice
Accuracy
1. The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted
information or images, including headlines not supported by the text.
2. A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be corrected,
promptly and with due prominence, and — where appropriate — an apology
published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as required by the
regulator.
3. A fair opportunity to reply to significant inaccuracies should be given, when
reasonably called for.
4. The Press, while free to editorialise and campaign, must distinguish clearly between
comment, conjecture and fact.
5. A publication must report fairly and accurately the outcome of an action for
defamation to which it has been a party, unless an agreed settlement states
otherwise, or an agreed statement is published.
When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that any text on the spread is accurate and
is not misleading for my audience in anyway which could damage the image of any from the
audience
Harassment
1. Journalists must not engage in intimidation, harassment or persistent pursuit.
2. They must not persist in questioning, telephoning, pursuing or photographing
individuals once asked to desist; nor remain on property when asked to leave and
must not follow them. If requested, they must identify themselves and whom they
represent.
3. Editors must ensure these principles are observed by those working for them and
take care not to use non-compliant material from other sources.
When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that if my model withdraws from the shoot
that their decision is respected and I will not contact them in any way to allow them to
withdraw without any consequences.
Intrusion into grief or shock
In cases involving personal grief or shock, enquiries and approaches must be made with
sympathy and discretion and publication handled sensitively. These provisions should not
restrict the right to report legal proceedings.
When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that the content of my fashion spread is
sympathetic to those who are suffering personal grief or shock.
Discrimination
1. The press must avoid prejudicial or pejorative reference to an individual's, race,
colour, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or to any physical or mental
illness or disability.
2. Details of an individual's race, colour, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation,
physical or mental illness or disability must be avoided unless genuinely relevant to
the story.
When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that do not make reference to anyone’s
religion, sex or ethnicity etc. I will also be thorough in ensuring that the language used
cannot be seen as offensive to anyone in any way.

Teen Fashion Spread

  • 1. Fashion spread Product This product will be a fashion spread for my teen lifestyle magazine Conqueror Theme The theme of this product is “Freedom of style” (urban style) Model The model in which I will be using is Priestley student Alisha Fenlon. Locations Priestley college Outfits Outfit 1: Black ripped jeans, kiss me hoodie. Outfit 2: Blue jeans with a black New York top Outfit 3: Black jeans with a white simple top. Outfit 4: Black jeans with a crop top, flannel top and a puffer coat. Props A stool to sit on Equipment required DSLR Camera Model Outfits Schedule Preliminary date: I will aim to shoot these pictures on the 28/02/2017 – 01/03/2017. But this date is due to change. Contingency plans Battery – make sure that I have a spare, fully charged battery. Model – if my model cannot attend for any reason I will have a replacement who will step in for them if they can’t come Outfits – will also bring spare outfit, that are suitable for my theme, so that if the models clothes are not appropriate I will be able to provide a replacement Legal
  • 2. Copyright Designs and Patents act 1988 What is the Copyright Designs and Patents act 1988 about? The Copyright Designs and Patents act 1988 “Gives the creators of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works the right to control the ways in which their material may be used. The rights cover: Broadcast and public performance, copying, adapting, issuing, renting and lending copies to the public. In many cases, the creator will also have the right to be identified as the author and to object to distortions of his work.” – source. It is a civil law which means that the person with the copyright has to sued the person who stole their media product. When producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content in which I create is mine and not the product of any other creator. I will also ensure that no one else copies my content. Any content Include I will research first to make sure that it’s not someone else’s content. Equality act 2010 What is the equality act 2010 about? It is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of: o age o being or becoming a transsexual person o being married or in a civil partnership o being pregnant or on maternity leave o disability o race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin o religion, belief or lack of religion/belief o sex o sexual orientation when producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content in which include does not discriminate against or offend any social group or any of my target audience. Obscene publication act 1959 - 1963 What is the Obscene publication act 1959 - 1963 about? Obscene publication act 1959 – 1963 refers to the law that has been put into place to make it a crime to publish something for gain or not for gain which intends to corrupt or ruin those who read, hear or see the matter contained. This could consist of extremely sexual images, bestiality etc. When producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content that I include is not seen as provocative for the audience and is also suitable for my target audience of Priestley students. The defamation act 2013 is in place to draw a line between freedom of expression and the damaging the reputation of others. This is a civil law and therefore means that the person whom reputation is being destroyed has to sue the offender in order for it to be a breach of the British Bill. The person suing has to prove that the information given out was damaging to their reputation. When producing my fashion spread I will ensure that the content in which Include cannot damage the reputation of anyone, especially as it is a college I must ensure that it does not damage the image of another student. The European convention on human rights Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life his home and his correspondence. There shall be no interference by a public authority with the exercise of this right except such as is in accordance with the law and is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security public safety or the economic wellbeing of the country for the prevention of disorder or crime for the protection of health or morals or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of other when I am producing my fashion spread I will ensure that I do not break the law by realising someone’s private information. I will also get my model to sign a consent form to say that they give me permission to use their photographs, however they will be made aware that they are free to withdraw from the shoot at any given point.   • 4.  We work with charities, NGOs and other organisations to support and improve press standards. I will follow all expectations of IPSO when producing my fashion spread. I will do this by being thorough when writing and monitor the content of my fashion spread making sure that the photographs and any text use is not offensive and is appropriate to be printed considering carefully my target audience. Editors code of practice Accuracy 1. The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information or images, including headlines not supported by the text. 2. A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and — where appropriate — an apology published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as required by the regulator. 3. A fair opportunity to reply to significant inaccuracies should be given, when reasonably called for. 4. The Press, while free to editorialise and campaign, must distinguish clearly between comment, conjecture and fact. 5. A publication must report fairly and accurately the outcome of an action for defamation to which it has been a party, unless an agreed settlement states otherwise, or an agreed statement is published. When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that any text on the spread is accurate and is not misleading for my audience in anyway which could damage the image of any from the audience Harassment 1. Journalists must not engage in intimidation, harassment or persistent pursuit. 2. They must not persist in questioning, telephoning, pursuing or photographing individuals once asked to desist; nor remain on property when asked to leave and must not follow them. If requested, they must identify themselves and whom they represent. 3. Editors must ensure these principles are observed by those working for them and take care not to use non-compliant material from other sources. When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that if my model withdraws from the shoot that their decision is respected and I will not contact them in any way to allow them to withdraw without any consequences. Intrusion into grief or shock In cases involving personal grief or shock, enquiries and approaches must be made with sympathy and discretion and publication handled sensitively. These provisions should not restrict the right to report legal proceedings.
  • 5. When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that the content of my fashion spread is sympathetic to those who are suffering personal grief or shock. Discrimination 1. The press must avoid prejudicial or pejorative reference to an individual's, race, colour, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or to any physical or mental illness or disability. 2. Details of an individual's race, colour, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental illness or disability must be avoided unless genuinely relevant to the story. When producing my fashion spread, I will ensure that do not make reference to anyone’s religion, sex or ethnicity etc. I will also be thorough in ensuring that the language used cannot be seen as offensive to anyone in any way.
