3. Coventry University is to spend £125 million redeveloping a chunk
of the city centre. The plans include a new headquarters for the
university, which was founded in 1970, as well as an international
student centre, a research hotel and a business incubation unit.

5. The first quarter of 2015 has
brought further good news in
terms of employment
prospects for the area, with
almost 1,500 new jobs created
in Coventry and Warwickshire
so far this year. Leading
employers in the region,
including Staysure, Holland &
Barrett, Tata Technologies and
Travis Perkins, have all
announced the creation of
significant numbers of jobs in
the city.
There's also the announcement from the London Taxi Company to
build a plant just outside Coventry, creating up to 1,000 new jobs
as it continues to manufacture the iconic black cab. Furthermore,
a deal to bring Wagamama, Las Iguanas and The Cosy Club to the
Cathedral Lanes restaurant quarter will also bring a jobs boost to
the city.

6. Louise Bennett, Chief Executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire
Chamber of Commerce, said: “The creation of so many jobs is very
positive news but it’s even better to see a very diverse mix of
companies who have announced a sizable number of new
employment opportunities. For Coventry and Warwickshire to
thrive, it needs a strong and diverse economy, and among those
companies who have committed to creating these jobs we have
everything from high-end manufacturers to new restaurants
coming to the area.”

7. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is to more than double the size of its base
in Coventry in a massive expansion of its advanced engineering
and design centre. JLR is to announce it has completed an
estimated £20 million deal for 62 acres of land at Whitley – more
than doubling its current 55-acre footprint at the site, which also
houses its global headquarters.

8. The firm currently employs 5,200 people at Whitley and sources
close to the deal are confident the expansion could result in an
extra 4,000 jobs. There are also hopes the huge expansion could
create an estimated 7,000 to 11,000 jobs indirectly in the region.
This will swell demand for the excellent flats and houses for sale in
central Coventry and the surrounding areas, making it a wise and
stable investment for the future.
