Does freezing popcorn yield more popcorn?
Project Design Plan.
This scientific experiment is to gauge the amount of kernels popped when the storage temperatures
of the kernels are changed. Does freezing popcorn kernels for 24 hours yield more or less popped
kernels than popcorn kernels stored at room temperature? By performing this experiment we can
decide how to maximize our food potential. We will purchase six identical brands of popcorn from
the local food store that have the same ingredients, weight and brand name. We will take three of the
bags of popcorn kernels and store it in a standard household freezer for twenty four hours. The
temperature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in mind that you must enter the amount of time on your microwave that you chose from your
time testing trial. Do not use the popcorn button that is standard on most microwaves. It is important
to test the time with one frozen and one shelf stored popcorn package. This will allow us to record
the exact time needed to perform our test on the remaining bags of popcorn.
7. Now perform two trials of test with one bag of frozen popcorn kernels and one bag of room
temperature popcorn. It is important to record the data off of each trial separately.
8. When finished recording your numbers from the two trail experiments take the average of each
trial and compare the final results.
Reasoning of this design.
The brand of popcorn testing has proven to be inconsistent. Each major brand of popcorn claims to
have the highest amount of popped kernels. We chose this method of experiment because we can
control the variables of the experiment. By controlling the temperature we can determine which
method will yield the most amount of popcorn instead of relying on which brand claims to have the
most yield of popcorn or studies on brands. This experiment can be used on all brands as long as the
brand name stays the same.
Sequence of Events.
Take each bag of popped popcorn and count the individual kernels that did not pop and record the
data on the chart. Perform this for each

Popcorn: The Five Senses
Popcorn Popcorn is something that many people are all familiar with. Most everybody knows where
it comes from and how people use it, but does everyone know how to describe or explain it?
Sometimes people are so familiar with something that they do not actually take the time to
understand what it is. Take a step back, and look at what popcorn truly is. Using the five senses. To
start, how does popcorn look? Popcorn is very pleasing to the eye. Popcorn looks soft and gentle, it
has the illusion of a cloud. Popcorn is puffy and has a comforting look to it. Popcorn looks like a
white, soft, puffy cloud. Popcorn looks like a food. It is known as a snack, and it looks like one as
well. Popcorn looks soft. The smell of popcorn is very recognizable. ... Show more content on

The sound of popping and sizzling from the microwave is extremely recognizable. The distinct
pop, pop, popping is something that will never be forgotten. Popcorn is very different from other
foods. It just pops. Even the sound of eating popcorn is different. Fully describing the sound of
popcorn is impossible. Popcorn sounds like popcorn, and that is that. The next of the five senses is
touch. Popcorn has a very specific feel to it. The ffel of popcorn is very recognizable, anyone could
tell what it was even if they had a blindfold on. Popcorn feels like what it looks like. Soft, gentle,
buttery, and dry. Popcorn also has a distinct shape and size. It feels round, but also bumpy. It is small
but some can be large. Popcorn comes in many different varieties, but no matter how it looks it will
still feel like the soft, buttery popcorn it should be. Alas, taste. The sweet, heavenly taste of the
unforgettable snack. How can one describe such an amazing flavour? The taste of popcorn is
something for individuals to decide. It simply tastes fantastic. Popcorn tastes fantastic. Tasting
popcorn is addicting. Taking one piece is impossible, popcorn is just too delicious to stop. Popcorn

Do Different Brands Of Popcorn Affect How Many Kernels
Do different brands of popcorn affect how many kernels pop?
Introduction
The grocery store shelves are filled with many varieties, sizes, and brands of the same item. There
are numerous kinds of popcorn, large and small, produced by different manufacturers. Some people
choose products based on need, some base their decisions on price and some base their decision on
quality or brand loyalty. With all of these options it can be difficult to choose. You may want to save
money but at what cost? In this experiment we will determine if generics are equivalent alternatives
or if we really get what we pay for. (Bautista, 2006)

2.Heat stove at a medium–high heat (7/10 on most stove units); let it heat up for 3 minutes
*To keep the heat the same medium–high heat for each run of the experiment.
3.Add 1T of peanut oil
*Peanut oil has a higher smoke point and has less of a chance of burning during the experiment.
4.Once stove has reached medium–high heat (3 minutes has passed), insert 1 popcorn kernel into the
pot.
*This step makes sure the stove is hot enough for the popcorn to pop.
5.Once test kernel has popped, pour in the popcorn kernels into the pot, put the pot top on, and
immediately start timer for seconds.
*The timer has to be started as soon as the popcorn is put into the pot so that the time stays
consistent. When the top is put on, after the popcorn is put in the pot, it not only keeps the popped
popcorn in the pot during the popping, but also keeps the heat inside allowing the popcorn a greater
chance of absorbing moisture.
6.Once timer has gone off after 30 seconds, quickly remove pot from heating surface and quickly
pour into bowl.
*To make sure the same amount of heat is given to both name brand and generic and is removed
from the stove surface as soon as the timer goes off.
7.Count remaining unpopped seeds– Popped kernels are any broken kernels.
*The seeds must be counted in order to determine if name brand popcorn pops better

Personal Narrative: The Change
The Change
It was a bright and sunny day on June 3, 1995. Such a good day that I was in the mood to become
something different, something that no one would expect to become, but what I had in mind wasn't
what I was hoping for. It was nice out and Brandon and I had some unfinished business we needed
to take care of. We got mad at each other earlier that day, got into a big fight and ended up messing
up moms' big day. On top of that, he blamed the whole thing on me which I can never forgive him
for, but I can also never forget what happened to Brandon.
We never got to go out much when we were younger, but not that we're out of school and into
college, it's a lot easier to go out without mom nagging to us. Brandon and I had a little bit of free ...

Sometimes I sit back and try to remember what happened. Back when Brandon did leave, a lot of
things changed good and bad. Dad disappeared just like Brandon, but he told me he was going to
leave. Another week went and I decided to go back to college when things started to happen. I
became very hairy, like Bigfoot, and my mouth started to ache in pain as well as my feet. I never
realized what was wrong with me until I got back to my college dorm. Where my roommate said
that there was something wrong with my face. My roommate always jokes around so I normally
don't believe him, but something did feel a little off. I took off my shoes and socks and most of the
foot pain went away. In that same time my roommate just kept saying feet over and over again.
Wondering what he was talking about, I looked at my feet and just about had a heartattack. My feet
somehow weren't feet anymore. They were... hooves! My roommate threatened to call the police on
me, but I wasn't really paying attention. I was more worried about what happened to my feet, and if
they were always going to be like this. I wasn't sure on what I was going to do, so I packed up my
few things I had and dropped out of college. I was beginning to wonder if this was what happened to
Brandon, but that was absurd and so is my situation... I

My Perfect Year In School
A Perfect Year in School
I will always will remember when I was 14 years old and I was in High School, freshman year, we
often got off earlier than what hour schedule show. What we usually did when that happened was
going to the houses of the school mates, go and play soccer in the courts, go to the movies without
the permission of our parents.
When we went to a house of a school mate we usually buy a lot of food, like fry food, play music,
video games, our favorite video game was soccer, if we didn't have electricity we used to play
dominoes like the old times. We hate when we didn't have electricity it was one day with electricity
and one day without electricity typically from my country. I think that we were already accustomed
to the day to day of our country, something crazy.
When we could spend some money we used to go to the movies, we always watch horror movies to
make fun of our faces. The movie theater was one hour from our school. We usually take taxis,
usually four taxis. When we arrived to the movie theater everybody will start yelling each other and
everybody was looking at us. Sometimes when people look at our group like "What is wrong with
this kids". Before enter to the room of the movies we will buy popcorn and candy. When we enter to
the room in the movies we will take sit, everybody in the same road, after that we will start throwing
some popcorn to some people I remember when a friend said "Hey let's start a popcorn war" and I
was like "There is

"Ugh. It's just so hot! I can't do anything it's so hot," I groaned. Mika looked over at me and
mirrored the annoyed expression that I realized was on my face. I quickly wiped away the
expression and tried for something a little nicer. After a bit I just gave up and lay down on the
cement floor of our living room. It was cooler down there so it gave a moment of relief. The floor
started to warm up where I lay though, so I had to keep moving from place to place so I wouldn't
start to sweat too much.
It was October of 2014. Towards the end of the year was always the most miserable time for
everyone. It was just before the rains came, so it was very hot and unbearably humid. During the

When it began to dump lots of rain every day, our back yard would turn into a mud bath. You
couldn't walk outside without slipping, sliding or sticking in the mud. Some people might think this
very inconvenient, but Mika, Gabe, Tessa, and I quickly realized how great it could be.
During that time, the termite hills in our yard turned into a giant playground of fun. The top layer of
clay became muddy and slippery, which gave me one of my best ideas, probably to this day.
I gasped in amazement at the brilliance of the idea that had just popped into my head. "Guys," I said.
"Lets slide down the hill!"
At first we tried a few different techniques in an attempt to keep our clothes clean enough to wear
another time in the future. We tried sitting on plastic bags, planks of wood and many other objects,
but that didn't end up working out as well as we planned. Whatever we were sitting on always ended
up slipping out from underneath us.
Eventually we just forgot about all of that and decided it didn't matter that much if our clothes got
ruined. So we struggled up the hills, trying not to slip and slide all the way down before we reached
the top.
Once we got to the summit, we chose the best path to slide down that wasn't blocked by trees,
bushes, or rocks. We then seated ourselves in the mud at the top of the mound, gave ourselves a little
push, and slid down the runway. It was a thrilling moment of

Cracker Jack Case Analysis
Case Recap
The primary reason for the Borden Foods to divert itself from snacks is to emphasis its efforts and
resources in the growth of their whole–wheat meal segments. Because of this valuation they had and
a growth plan they had they decided to announce sale of Cracker Jack in 1997. The management
team of Broaden also recognized that with the increase in competition they have not been able to
successfully grow the sales figure in past five years. Also because the Cracker Jack brand has
various packaging options and has been maintaining a huge product line of 32 Stock–Keeping Units
(SKUs). However, currently Broaden production facility had only 32 percent of space allocated to

Evaluation of Alternative
Cracker Jacks sales will represent a tiny part of the Frito–Lay's business currently, however the
chances are high to get the numbers high from this division if proper decisions are made. Frito–Lay
is the leader in the US market concerning market share and sales volume. So they can use their
advertising and marketing experience to uplift CJ. CJ should be marketed as a stackable treat which
is healthy as of natural ingredients like popcorn. Marketing researchers should focus on the small
children as the target market as well. By launching the different sizes and convenient packages to
the customers so that they can grab it and go rather than having a box. The CJ should be made
available to as many stores as possible by utilizing the same direct store delivery channels. A careful
analysis has to be done to change any features like gifts in each bag and the flavor of the CJ,
because that is the major point of CJ and most of the customers are attracted because of that
particular features.
Recommendation
In my opinion the Borden Foods will sell the company for above 30 million dollars based on the
assets it has and the goodwill for the year ending 1996. However the Frito–Lay should only pay
around 25 million dollars for acquisitions of the company.

Will Popcorn Pop The Most Kernels
This project is all about popcorn. Everyone likes that right? Well, my research was all based on how
many kernels were in the bag after the popcorn got done popping. What made me want to do this
project was more because of people with money issues. The point was to help these people find a
way to test how much popcorn they can get with their own money. This is the information on which
popcorn brand will pop the most kernels?
Since the experiment is on which popcorn brand will pop the most kernels, you need to find some
information on reasons why popcorn may not pop. "If popcorn is much drier, it will not pop"
(Hartman). So if the popcorn is dry, it won`t pop. This is why popcorn won`t pop which leaves non–
popped kernels in the bag. Temperature affects the amount of steam, and steam makes the popcorn

This will help me understand why popcorn may not pop, because if heat doesn't transfer to the
kernels, they won`t pop (Kruszelnick). Temperature is very important in this experiment (Energy &

temperature is low, it will take more time to pop. If the temperature is high it will take less time to
pop. In conclusion, the lower the temperature, the less steam created, and the higher temperature, the
more steam created. Resulting in the popping time needed. The temperature is very important,
because the temperature determines when the popcorn will pop. So if the temperature is low or way
high, the popcorn will either burn or not pop (Walker). Moisture is important when talking about the

Which Brand of Popcorn Pops Up the Most Corn?
Which Brand Of Popcorn Pops Up The Most Corn?
By A. Stone
Problem
Nobody likes to get to the end of their popcorn bowl only to have most of the popcorn not popped. It
is very frustrating to purchase popcorn and end up with a bowl of un–popped kernels. Well, this
experiment is to determine which brand of popcorn yields the least amount of un–popped kernels?
Reason
The reason I decided on doing this project is because the materials required are inexpensive and
easily available at most grocery or dollar stores. Through this experiment, I can educate consumers
on which brand pops up the most corn, therefore saving them money.
Hypothesis
There are many differing opinions on which popcorn has the least amount of un–popped kernels.
Some think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Procedures
The purpose of this experiment was to test multiple brands of popcorn under the same setting in
order to conclude which one statistically popped the most kernels. I tested the butter flavor of
Orville Redenbacher, Wal–mart's Great Value brand, and Pop Weavers. The different bags of
popcorn were popped in the same microwave for the same amount of time, 3 minutes and 15
seconds. Then, the popped corn was counted, as well as the un–popped kernels, in order to
determine a ratio, and then I recorded the results in the data table. I repeated these steps two more
times for a total of 3 trails for each brand. Then I compared the ratios of all the bags to determine
which brand yielded the most popped corn. The statistical technique used to evaluate the data was to
find a ratio between the number of kernels in the bottom of the bowl and the number of popped
kernels. To find this, I divided the number of the actual popped corns by the total number of kernels
left in the bottom of the bowl. The ratios and percent were then compared. Once all my results were
in the data table, I averaged the 3 trials for each brand of popcorn.

even get to the theater. Some of the worst experiences I have had have involved people coming into
the movie after the movie has started. It is never great when someone comes in late and either must
walk in front of you or try to squeeze around you to get to a seat. If you come in late then you must
choose your battle. If its close enough to the beginning of the movie then hopefully you can manage
to get to a seat during the opening credits. If you come late, try to get to a seat while disturbing as
few people as you can. Do not try squeezing into the middle of the row when there are seats
available on the end. One time I was sitting and trying to pay attention as the movie started when
someone decided to squeeze down the row. Being tall that means I need to stand up, instead of just
moving my legs. There I was, as the movie is starting, standing up and blocking the view of people
behind me as

Book Theatre Vs Lok Theatre
Most of us have been inside an AMC to catch a movie that we have been dying to see. Is the AMC a
movie theater that you really enjoy? Or is it a theater that is well–known to us so we just whine up
there? The LOOK Cinema is nothing like the AMC, the experience is better from, the theater, food,
and atmosphere. The LOOK Cinema compared to the AMC are not quite similar, both cinemas have
something slightly different from one another. The AMC only gives you two theaters to pick from,
the normal theater, and dine in. At the LOOK Cinema, they give you three options the loft,
evolution, and look dine–in. Each theater varies in price, even though the LOOK Cinema is pricier
the experience is better. If you choose the loft, only people who are twenty–one and older can get in.
This theater has sofas, which makes you feel as if you are watching the movie from home. The
evolution, has power recliners, massive screens, and the best sound by Dolby Atoms. The look dine–
in has scrumptious and fresh food served from the IVY Kitchen. The atmosphere from the LOOK
Cinema is upscale compared to the AMC. Everything is very well kept, from the bathrooms, lobby
and even inside the theaters. The location of the LOOK Cinemas is set out in a high–end area unlike

Cretors Case Study
CRETORS VIDEO CASE STUDY STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT SUMMER SEMESTER 2011
PROFESSOR STEPHEN COURTER Santiago Ennis Exporting has become a very important
business strategy nowadays. In order for firms to expand to the international market, and also to
maintain and grow their share of market in whatever industry they are in, depending on their goals
and objectives, any company must at least explore this possibility. A few and important advantages
might come into place, in that they can extend their sales potential of their existing products,
increasing margins through a larger customer base. Also, these small to large businesses can
consolidate by gaining global share of market, they can reduce their dependence on their existing

They had to stay current with different voltages, safety & operational procedures (temperature
and electrical). Strategic Formulation and Implementation came into place. Relationships were the
core of their export business. International partnerships gave them presence in North and South
America, Europe and Asia. Working through distributors, made it easier to sell their products. These
distributors knew every little aspect of their clients, and made it easier to find potential clients than
Cretor could. These made them have both bargaining power of suppliers and buyers, in that they
were still one of the very few making these machines, and throughout these distributors, they had
specific knowledge of their current and potential clients overseas. Cretors also kept personal
relationships. They had good friends internationally. There were some businesses that started small,
which had a more personal relationship with them. In order to assure that their machines stayed in
good conditions, they currently have approved service centers around the world. These centers
would act as a link between Cretors and their customers. A service representative was at the center,
who would fix the problem almost the first time, making them look smart and professional, and also
making very cheap centers to maintain. Having a single distributor in each part of the world (Spain,
Italy, Germany) These representatives had to drive 200–300 miles, and you definitely

Fluff Mucken Owls: A Narrative Fiction
There should've been a sign. But nooooo, the universe just randomly decided to nuke my friends.
You know what? Maybe I should just start from the beginning.... It was an alright day, although all
of the other popcorn kernels were all pressed in my space, but that was normal in a popcorn bag.
The next thing I knew, we were being shaken around. Then all the sudden, it stopped. Then the
spinning began. It started out slowly, then it got faster. It started getting hotter, too. Then– POP– my
friends turned into fluff muckens. It was horror. (In case you didn't know, fluff muckens are like the
kernel boogeymen) They're awful, five times the size of an average kernel. They just sit there,
looking terrifying. Gahhhh....) So, naturally, my reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

data he finds although there are some major flaws in his book that he does not explore on which
means it gives the book weakness. McKenzie does not confine himself to general ideas of inflated

The American disaster of the twin towers terrorist attack is also written about in the book. This
chapter has much emotion unlike the rest of the book, which I view as a poor point of the author as
although it was an international tragedy, the book itself should be focused upon the economics and I
feel the author spends too long speaking about the tragedy. The idea of the theory was good though
as it is current news that almost everyone knows and cares about – they also all have an emotional
bias and opinion on it. McKenzie explains the economics later on in the chapter very well although
his own personal opinion comes through too much. After his emotional introduction to the chapter,
there are too many numbers and not enough explanation, which is different to the remainder of the
books as generally he gets the balance right between the two.
The final chapter that I am going to analyse is 'why so many prices end with 9' this chapter is clear
cut and extremely interesting I found. The psychology behind the marketing choice is fascinating
and he uses economics in a daily surrounding which intrigues me more and I'm sure many others
that read the book. McKenzie had a very balanced and unbiased view in this chapter, although he
does occasionally assume that the average person is very simple and not intelligent in the least. He
also missed out some information that I though could be relevant such as what the people do

A Short Story : A Story?
Carlos welcomes his best friends Jerome and Brett over to watch a movie the day before Halloween
1989. "Get in here, are ya crazy?", said Carlos to Brett and Jerome as they stood on his doorstep
while rain was soaking their luggage. "How have you been doing here, you know, ever since Mary
left?", exclaimed Jerome with regret as soon as he opened his mouth. Carlos responded before he
could finish, "Do not mention that person's name is this household especially on such a special day. I
would never do that to you!". Brett stepped in finally and shouted, "OK listen, from now on it is just

built this cottage himself so he would know every nook and cranny of it. While Brett and Jerome
finished unpacking Carlos prepared snacks and the movie. Brett and Jerome navigated their way to
Carlos's personal movie theater and sat down. Brett whispered, "Where do you want to sit?". Jerome

My Visit At A New Church
For this assignment, I decided to write about my visit to a "portable church."
As a matter of fact, this assignment had come at a perfect time in my life. For quite some time, I had
been looking for an excuse to visit a new church. I did not feel like I was getting enough substance,
or the "meat and potatoes" and I was hungry for more. I had always thought about visiting other but
I could never get myself to walk through the doors. In the eyes of the philosopher Plato, I was sitting
complacently in "the cave."
But that was when my mom suggested visiting a portable church, inside a local movie theater to be
specific. The church I had grown up in was large and extremely conservative. I had grown
accustomed to the rows of wooden pews that creaked every time a person shifted their position, and
the beautiful stain windows that sparkled when the light hit them at the right angle. The thought of
stepping inside a worldly building that smelled like buttered popcorn and had sticky floors to
worship was not only an uncomfortable thought but also it felt disgraceful.
Our church had always taught us to wear our finest clothes out of respect for entering God's home
and all I could picture in my head of the people I had never met from the portable church included
images of t–shirts, shorts, flip flops and jumbo tubs of popcorn and extra large Diet Colas. When I
was walking towards the entrance of the theater, I felt extremely uncomfortable and anxious. I was
not entirely sure what

Movie Theater Experience
Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not
matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid
because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my
mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have
grown I have made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just notice just
how bad the overall experience can be as well.
Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example
the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not
just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you
around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a
common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you're getting something even greater.
Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of
coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging details
that are thrown in the 2–3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie
when it comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have
also gotten really into staying for the credits as well

The Importance Of Love In My Life
When I was growing up I was always told to treat others with kindness and respect, no matter who
they were or how old they were. These are things that I have carried along with me throughout my
life so far. Over the years I have gained some new characteristics about me and lost some, that were
good and bad.
The things that I care most about in life is love for my friends, family and dog. They have allowed
me to be myself and have always tried to get me to remain as positive as I possibly can. My family
has been there for me throughout my entire life. They taught me the difference between right and
wrong. Being a big part of my life, they will always have a special place in my head and heart. As
for friends, I have developed new ones over the years, and lost some, but they have taught me things
about myself, that I did not know. For example, they have allowed me to step out of my comfort
zone, and try new things. I care about them, they play a very important role in my life, because they
have allowed me to realize who I am. The final thing that matters a lot to me in my life is my dog,
Wyatt. He has been apart of my life since I was very little. My dog never fails to make me smile,
and makes my days much better
Being a teenager, I also have many fears, stresses and things that weigh me down. These things
consist of spiders, asking for help and disappointing my family. The fear of spiders has been with
me since I was a toddler. The way they crawl around has never

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Going To The Movie Theatre
The lights begin to dim until you can barely see what is around you. The smell of butter is in the air
as you recline your seat back till you are nearly vertical with the floor. Then a bright light shines in
front of you, so massive it is impossible to miss. It is finally starting. The movie is finally starting.
There is a significant reason why people occasionally go to the movie theatre to watch a movie
rather than just watch the movie at home. Going to the theatre means tons of popcorn, extra comfy
seats, a dark and loud room, and a giant screen. Going to the movies is a whole experience in itself.
Have you ever had a bad experience at the movie theatre though? One where your shoes begin to
squeak because you step in someone's spilt slushy or as you sit in your chair you hear the crunch of
the previous person's left over popcorn underneath you. Not only does this situation make you
frustrated and irritated, it also distracts you from the movie you went to the theatre to see. If you
have a bad time at the movie theatre, you may not even remember the movie you went to see
because you are distracted by all the things around you. In this case, going to the movie theatre
actually takes away from the movie itself. Going to the movie theatre should let you become totally
engrossed in the movie and even enhance the movie itself. When one goes to a movie theatre it
needs to be clean. The floors should be clean and dry not wet and sticky. The seats should be
spotless with no sign

Advantages Of Staying At Home Vs Movie Theater
When thinking about a trip to the movie theater, what comes to mind? Most may think of the
delicious, perfectly cooked, buttered popcorn, and huge movie screen with surround sound. While
others may think of the obnoxiously loud atmosphere and inconvenient show times. Everyone has
their opinion on which movie viewing option they think is better; the movie theater, or home. When
it "boils down" to the facts, it is not hard to see why staying at home is the prefered movie–watching
experience over the the movie theater experience, the reasons why this may be so is the cost, the
inconvenience of show times, and viewing options
The Cost
The first point to consider is the cost. Movie theater tickets and concession prices are always on the
rise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Show Times
Another point to consider is the inconvenient show times. Often, movie theater showtimes seem to
be impossible to work around or plan for. This can especially be the case for people who work a job
during the day. For example, if a woman wanted to go see a movie with her friend after work, the
planning around the movie theater showtimes becomes very tedious quickly. If the woman gets off
at five, then that automatically knocks out the 5:00 movie viewing time. The next available show
time isn't until 7:30, but she has work the next day and she needs to get home at a decent hour in the
day. Therefore she has to cancel her plans with her friend solely due to the fact that the movie
theater only had certain viewing times that weren't catering to her schedule. On the contrary, show
times at home are a "24–7" deal. Anytime a person feels like watching a movie at home is the
perfect time. We are able to watch virtually any movie at any time with the click of a remote button
or the tap of an app on our smart phones. Therefore, making the home movie viewing experience the
ultimate choice because of the convenient "24–7" showtimes.
The Viewing Options
The last point to consider is the viewing options. According to Pew Research Center (2006) 58% of
people don't go out to the movie theater more often is due to the fact that there are too few good
movies to see( pg 3.) And it's not hard to see

Creative Writing: Mrs. Burnage Essay
Until today, I remembered my visits to Mrs. Burnage's house fondly. The neighborhood I lived in
was small, with only ten houses on the whole street. Each house was placed far apart with everyone
having at least three acres of property. Our house was at one end of the road, and Mrs. Burnage's
was at the other.
Mrs. Burnage was a sweet lady, probably in her late 50s when my three sisters, Jason Adams
(another younger kid in the neighborhood), and I would go visit her. I visited her from ages eight to
thirteen. Mrs. Burnage didn't have children of her own; she wasn't able to, according to my mom. So
she loved it when we would come over, and we did too. Even though she didn't have any of her own
kids, her house was a child's dream. When you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We would shriek with laughter as we slid down and splashed into the pool. And even though Jason
was six years younger than I was, we bonded by tormenting my sisters. We'd pretend that we were
alligators and sneak up behind or even underneath my sisters, "chomp" on their legs with our arms,
and make them squeal. We'd call after them as they swam away, "Alligators always eat squealing
pigs!" and laugh our heads off.
Mrs. Burnage would prepare us lemonade, sit on the poolside lounge, and often played The Beach
Boys on her boom box. She was always watching us, smiling.
When I was thirteen, Jason ran away from home. We had always talked about running away and had
even made maps of where we would go. We built a fort in the woods out of fallen limbs and rocks.
We even had made a roof using bark and moss for shingles in case it rained. When he finally did run
away, he left a note telling his parents why (They didn't let him play Nintendo on weeknights). I was
upset that he didn't invite me.
When he ran away, he left with only his favorite red hoodie and blue jeans, his backpack, some
granola bars, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I had figured that he ran away to our fort, but
when I went down to the fort, he wasn't there. He never came back home, and his parents never
found him, nor did they ever find his body. They moved out of the neighborhood shortly thereafter. I
don't think they could stand being where there were so many

Caring Theory
Running head: CARING THEORY Caring Theory University of Phoenix Caring Theory Caring is
the central component of the nursing profession. Jean Watson believed that the essence of nursing is
caring for a person (Alderson, Huynh, & Thompson, 2008). Watson's caring theory has a
philosophical, moral and spiritual source that addresses a person's health with a holistic approach
focusing on the mind, body, and soul. According to Watson (2009), "nurses and practitioners who
are literate with caring relationships are capable of having loving, caring, kind, and sensitively
meaningful, personal connections with an increasingly enlightened public: a public seeking
wholeness and spiritual connections for their wellbeing, not just sterile, ... Show more content on

Studies show a relationship between Watson's Caring model and patient's blood pressure. "In those
patients for whom the caring model was practiced, there was a relationship between the Caring
model and a decrease in patient's blood pressure" (Ayse, Behice, Gulbu, Olcay, & Zeynep,
2005, p. 131). It is interesting to see this correlation. Using Watson's Caring model a nurse can help
a patient's mind, body, and soul. The environment in which the patient is cared for plays a major role
in the outcome of the patient's safety and health. When this patient was admitted he was on suicide
precaution. For his safety and per the hospital policy we placed a 24 hour sitter at the patient's
bedside. All cords and sharp objects were cleared from the patient's room. Patient's have a right to a
safe environment. Every shift I asked my patient if he had any thoughts of harming himself or
anyone else. This is part of a nurse's care. Providing privacy for the patient is an important aspect of
the environment. My patient had no immediate family or friends, therefore, the patient verbally told
me not to give any personal information over the phone. I explained the HIPAA regulations, and my
duty as a nurse to abide by these regulations. I made sure I went to a confined area in which other
people could not hear if I had to talk about the patient's personal information to doctors. As the days
went by, this patient brought my life into perspective.

Popcorn History
A history of popcorn
When it comes to popcorn, more often than not it's the sound that hits you first with its "pop, pop,
popping". It starts off nice and slowly before heading full steam ahead into a firestorm of kernels as
they almost magically transform into clouds of crunchy white goodness. The next thing you'll no
doubt notice is the incredible smell that wafts through the room and eventually the entire house,
slowly pulling you in as it teases your nose. You'll feel weak as the popcorn tantalises your taste
buds. By the time your teeth crunch down on the first bite, you're totally and utterly hooked.
Popcorn happens to be one of the most popular snacks and described by some as a completely
irresistible treat. As they say, the proof is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His recipe included the use of a grill, a half–pint glass of popcorn and a frying pan that had been
rubbed with lard or butter. He advised holding the pan over the fire whilst constantly stirring or
shaking the corn and within a few minutes, the popcorn should have turned inside out to reveal the
delicious white, fluffy centre. He also mentioned the addition of salt or sugar whilst it was still hot
for added flavour. The issue with this particular method however seemed to be with the lard or
butter. The butter would usually begin to burn before the pan reached a hot enough temperature and
the lard would create popcorn that was covered in slime–like grease. It wasn't until the latter portion
of the 19th century that a more efficient way of popping popcorn was discovered. What were
deemed to be "poppers" were actually boxes made of tight wire gauze and had long handles
attached. They were designed to be held over an open flame. The design of poppers offered a
number of benefits including the containment of popped kernels whilst also keeping any hands away
from the heat source. Over the years, the popper became hugely popular and as a result a number of
improvements were made to make it bigger and better than ever. Due to the improvements, popcorn
became even more accessible to the masses of people wanting to get their hands on

What Makes Your Favorite Movie?
"What is your favorite movie?" Ms. Patrisko asked me this question and by this time I knew that I
was hired. I was 16 and it was spring time. The summer was coming up and it was going to be a
very big one for movies. This job would be something different for me and would help shape my
future. The five years that I had spent working and growing through a movie theater supplied me
with many memories, an opportunity to grow as a professional and has equipped me with lifelong
friends. Some of my most favorite memories were constructed at the little movie theater in Wooster,
OH. One of the major perks to working at a movie theater, is the fact that I was able to get into any
movie I wanted to at any time. I was also able to take friends to the movies for free which made me
pretty popular with everyone! My fondest memory of working at the movie theater was watching
movies before they were to come out. It seemed every Thursday night I would be at the movie
theater after 12:00AM, sitting down with my friends, devouring freshly popped popcorn, guzzling
on some Cherry Coke, and eating as much delicious candy as possible. As I progressed through the
company, this became a reoccurring theme throughout the five years I spent there. When I finally
became an assistant manager, I was in charge of building movies. Building movies consisted of
taking anywhere from five to even eight or nine movie reels and splicing them together in the

Harvey Wallbanger Essay
Introduction:
Harvey Wallbanger, president of Harvey Wallbanger Popcorn, entered the popcorn market in 1972.
He is considered to be the person most responsible for creating a gourmet popcorn market in the
United States. His claim to fame is that his corn is lighter, fluffier, "tenderer", and bigger than
ordinary popcorn. He also boasts that his popcorn has fewer hard, unpopped kernels than
competitive products.
Harvey's company sells popcorn to several markets in the United States:

The only popcorn he could find, besides some stale bagged corn in supermarkets, was caramel corn
which wasn't very popular. Wallbanger believes there is a great opportunity in Great Britain as a
whole. The British are big snackers, they visit pubs on a frequent basis, and they are great TV
watchers. He wants to explore the possibility of expanding into Great Britain. At the moment, he is
thinking about exporting his franchise gourmet–shop operation and licensing stores to sell his brand
of popcorn. Although he is open to suggestions of other possibilities, he is sure, as he told his board
of directors, that "Harvey Wallbanger Popcorn will have a major investment in Great Britain within
two years". As his staff assistant, you have been selected to do a preliminary evaluation of the
opportunities and problems of selling popcorn in Great Britain, which will be used in the decision

The British Market:
The British make a distinction between savoury (spicy and salty) snacks and sweet snacks. Savoury
snacks in Britain include a wide variety of flavoured potato crisps, extruded snacks such as Bugles,
and salted peanuts. Snacking on potato crisps or salted peanuts while drinking beer, especially in
pubs, is very traditional social behaviour. Snacks are purchased as a companion product to beer and

The Layout Of The Cinerama Dome
The layout of the Cinerama Dome consists of an auditorium, lobby, restrooms, projection rooms,
and storage, see Fig 7. The entrance is located at the centre of the façade and is composed of glazed
aluminum doors. The ticket sales area is located to the right of the main entrance. Concrete block
wing walls enclose the lobby, which are embellished with decorative detailing in the form of
alternating projecting half blocks arranged in a grid pattern (Emerton 2003, P 38). The exterior is
circular in plan and the majority of the exterior surface consists of the domed roof. The entrance is
housed within a pavilion, sheltered beneath a painted plywood canopy that cantilevers out over the
sidewalk, as can be seen in Fig 8. The canopy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The existing building façade, including the third floor windows were retained (Heller 2015, p 12).
The new building walls were finished in smooth white stucco, as can be seen in Fig 11. The cinema
complex is accessible via the third floor of the Santa Monica Place courtyard through glass entry
doors. Evolution is also seen through the materiality used in the cinemas. The Egyptian decor
consisted of soft reds, blues, and yellows. The screen was framed by four, giant pillars 1.4 m wide
and 6 m high, their surfaces painted and decorated with papyrus plants and topped by a pair of large,
receding lintels (Ames & Wagner 2009, p 125). In 1924, Art and Archaeology stated Grauman's
Egyptian "is not made up of grotesque statues, sphinxes, pyramids, and meaningless signs in lieu of
hieroglyphics, but is a replica of real Egyptian art and architecture" (Handy, 2008). Concrete, plaster
and stone blocks were used to save costs and looked similar to those used in Ancient Egyptian
architecture (Ames & Wagner 2009, p 125). The entire theatre 's decor consisted of motifs such as
hieroglyphs, animal–headed gods, pharaohs, jackals, winged scarabs, bas–relief sphinx heads
(Handy, 2008). "And, looming majestically above it all in the centre of the ceiling and over the
theatre 's proscenium, an overpowering

Elementary Hosts Popcorn At School
Every other Friday, Cascades Elementary hosts Popcorn Friday in their cafeteria. Volunteers come
and help make, bag, and distribute the salty snack to the classrooms. The line goes popcorn
machine, empty bags, bag folders and tape placers, finished bags, and classroom totes. However, to
make the line flow easily, the line might go; empty bags, popcorn machine, bag folders, tapers,
finished bags in lines of five, and the classroom totes that are brought up from the classroom. This
suggested lineup requires a volunteer to open bags and place them so the popcorn machine volunteer
is able to reach the paper bags, and possibly a couple more volunteers to ensure the supplies needed
never runs out and the flow is maintained. Unfortunately, many parents with nothing to do on
Fridays do not come to help.
On Popcorn Day, the volunteers meet at Cascades Elementary at eight in the morning in the
cafeteria after dropping their children off at school. One volunteer begins to heat up the popcorn
maker and make popcorn while a second volunteer sets out bags and a third sets out strips of tape
along the side of the table. After classes begin, the teacher selects two students to take the class
mesh tote and the popcorn money for the class to the cafeteria where the volunteers make the
popcorn. Once the students hand one of the volunteers the class tote and popcorn money, the
students are able to go back to class. The average popcorn bags requested by each classroom is
about 30 bags. The

Mistakes Are Mistakes
Have you ever made a mistake that actually helped to open your eyes or lead you to a great idea?
Mistakes are the key to making new discoveries all around us. How do you think we learned about
gravity? A mistake was made with an apple falling from a tree which helped us to open our eyes and
give us the great idea to learn more about gravity. Mistakes are the key to new discoveries, because
it opens your eyes to new possibilities and it can help you to do great deeds. It has been argued that,
mistakes are not the key to making new discoveries, because of the problems it can cause. I know
this because in the text it said, "Most of the time, scientists work for decades and make very few
mistakes. When they do, most mistakes cause problems, not ... Show more content on

We make so many mistakes, everyone of us, but when you make a mistake it normally opens your
eye's to new possibilities. I know this because in the text it said, " Percy Spencer never set out to
help cook your dinner in only 5 minutes. All he did was carry a bar of chocolate from his pocket
onto the factory floor. What he discovered that day was more than how to get chocolate stains out of
your clothes. He discovered a completely new way to cook" ("How a Melted Bar of Chocolate
Changed our Kitchens") . Based on this evidence, Percy's eyes were opened to a whole to new way
to cook food all because of an accident, of taking chocolate in his warm pocket onto a factory floor.
According to Martin Farquhar Tupper, a 19th Century English writer "Error is a hard plant; it
flourisheth in every soul" ("A series of Quotations about Error and Discovery"). Based on the
evidence given, what it is saying is that mistakes are in everybody, but those mistakes begin to
flourish and become something better than what it was. This supports my claim, because mistakes
can open your eyes to new possibilities like the chocolate bar and mistakes

Int1 Task 3 Essay Example

  • 1. Int1 Task 3 Essay example 11/2011 INT1 Task 3 Does freezing popcorn yield more popcorn? Project Design Plan. This scientific experiment is to gauge the amount of kernels popped when the storage temperatures of the kernels are changed. Does freezing popcorn kernels for 24 hours yield more or less popped kernels than popcorn kernels stored at room temperature? By performing this experiment we can decide how to maximize our food potential. We will purchase six identical brands of popcorn from the local food store that have the same ingredients, weight and brand name. We will take three of the bags of popcorn kernels and store it in a standard household freezer for twenty four hours. The temperature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keep in mind that you must enter the amount of time on your microwave that you chose from your time testing trial. Do not use the popcorn button that is standard on most microwaves. It is important to test the time with one frozen and one shelf stored popcorn package. This will allow us to record the exact time needed to perform our test on the remaining bags of popcorn. 7. Now perform two trials of test with one bag of frozen popcorn kernels and one bag of room temperature popcorn. It is important to record the data off of each trial separately. 8. When finished recording your numbers from the two trail experiments take the average of each trial and compare the final results. Reasoning of this design. The brand of popcorn testing has proven to be inconsistent. Each major brand of popcorn claims to have the highest amount of popped kernels. We chose this method of experiment because we can control the variables of the experiment. By controlling the temperature we can determine which method will yield the most amount of popcorn instead of relying on which brand claims to have the most yield of popcorn or studies on brands. This experiment can be used on all brands as long as the brand name stays the same. Sequence of Events.

  • 6. Popcorn: The Five Senses Popcorn Popcorn is something that many people are all familiar with. Most everybody knows where it comes from and how people use it, but does everyone know how to describe or explain it? Sometimes people are so familiar with something that they do not actually take the time to understand what it is. Take a step back, and look at what popcorn truly is. Using the five senses. To start, how does popcorn look? Popcorn is very pleasing to the eye. Popcorn looks soft and gentle, it has the illusion of a cloud. Popcorn is puffy and has a comforting look to it. Popcorn looks like a white, soft, puffy cloud. Popcorn looks like a food. It is known as a snack, and it looks like one as well. Popcorn looks soft. The smell of popcorn is very recognizable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sound of popping and sizzling from the microwave is extremely recognizable. The distinct pop, pop, popping is something that will never be forgotten. Popcorn is very different from other foods. It just pops. Even the sound of eating popcorn is different. Fully describing the sound of popcorn is impossible. Popcorn sounds like popcorn, and that is that. The next of the five senses is touch. Popcorn has a very specific feel to it. The ffel of popcorn is very recognizable, anyone could tell what it was even if they had a blindfold on. Popcorn feels like what it looks like. Soft, gentle, buttery, and dry. Popcorn also has a distinct shape and size. It feels round, but also bumpy. It is small but some can be large. Popcorn comes in many different varieties, but no matter how it looks it will still feel like the soft, buttery popcorn it should be. Alas, taste. The sweet, heavenly taste of the unforgettable snack. How can one describe such an amazing flavour? The taste of popcorn is something for individuals to decide. It simply tastes fantastic. Popcorn tastes fantastic. Tasting popcorn is addicting. Taking one piece is impossible, popcorn is just too delicious to stop. Popcorn has an unforgettable, delicious, fantastic ... • 10. Do Different Brands Of Popcorn Affect How Many Kernels Do different brands of popcorn affect how many kernels pop? Introduction The grocery store shelves are filled with many varieties, sizes, and brands of the same item. There are numerous kinds of popcorn, large and small, produced by different manufacturers. Some people choose products based on need, some base their decisions on price and some base their decision on quality or brand loyalty. With all of these options it can be difficult to choose. You may want to save money but at what cost? In this experiment we will determine if generics are equivalent alternatives or if we really get what we pay for. (Bautista, 2006) Project Design Plan Testable Question: Does name brand popcorn will have a better ability to pop than generic ... When the top is put on, after the popcorn is put in the pot, it not only keeps the popped popcorn in the pot during the popping, but also keeps the heat inside allowing the popcorn a greater chance of absorbing moisture. 6.Once timer has gone off after 30 seconds, quickly remove pot from heating surface and quickly pour into bowl. *To make sure the same amount of heat is given to both name brand and generic and is removed from the stove surface as soon as the timer goes off. 7.Count remaining unpopped seeds– Popped kernels are any broken kernels. *The seeds must be counted in order to determine if name brand popcorn pops better ... • 14. Personal Narrative: The Change The Change It was a bright and sunny day on June 3, 1995. Such a good day that I was in the mood to become something different, something that no one would expect to become, but what I had in mind wasn't what I was hoping for. It was nice out and Brandon and I had some unfinished business we needed to take care of. We got mad at each other earlier that day, got into a big fight and ended up messing up moms' big day. On top of that, he blamed the whole thing on me which I can never forgive him for, but I can also never forget what happened to Brandon. We never got to go out much when we were younger, but not that we're out of school and into college, it's a lot easier to go out without mom nagging to us. Brandon and I had a little bit of free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes I sit back and try to remember what happened. Back when Brandon did leave, a lot of things changed good and bad. Dad disappeared just like Brandon, but he told me he was going to leave. Another week went and I decided to go back to college when things started to happen. I became very hairy, like Bigfoot, and my mouth started to ache in pain as well as my feet. I never realized what was wrong with me until I got back to my college dorm. Where my roommate said that there was something wrong with my face. My roommate always jokes around so I normally don't believe him, but something did feel a little off. I took off my shoes and socks and most of the foot pain went away. In that same time my roommate just kept saying feet over and over again. Wondering what he was talking about, I looked at my feet and just about had a heartattack. My feet somehow weren't feet anymore. They were... hooves! My roommate threatened to call the police on me, but I wasn't really paying attention. I was more worried about what happened to my feet, and if they were always going to be like this. I wasn't sure on what I was going to do, so I packed up my few things I had and dropped out of college. I was beginning to wonder if this was what happened to Brandon, but that was absurd and so is my situation... I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Perfect Year In School A Perfect Year in School I will always will remember when I was 14 years old and I was in High School, freshman year, we often got off earlier than what hour schedule show. What we usually did when that happened was going to the houses of the school mates, go and play soccer in the courts, go to the movies without the permission of our parents. When we went to a house of a school mate we usually buy a lot of food, like fry food, play music, video games, our favorite video game was soccer, if we didn't have electricity we used to play dominoes like the old times. We hate when we didn't have electricity it was one day with electricity and one day without electricity typically from my country. I think that we were already accustomed to the day to day of our country, something crazy. When we could spend some money we used to go to the movies, we always watch horror movies to make fun of our faces. The movie theater was one hour from our school. We usually take taxis, usually four taxis. When we arrived to the movie theater everybody will start yelling each other and everybody was looking at us. Sometimes when people look at our group like "What is wrong with this kids". Before enter to the room of the movies we will buy popcorn and candy. When we enter to the room in the movies we will take sit, everybody in the same road, after that we will start throwing some popcorn to some people I remember when a friend said "Hey let's start a popcorn war" and I was like "There is ... I quickly wiped away the expression and tried for something a little nicer. After a bit I just gave up and lay down on the cement floor of our living room. It was cooler down there so it gave a moment of relief. The floor started to warm up where I lay though, so I had to keep moving from place to place so I wouldn't start to sweat too much. It was October of 2014. Towards the end of the year was always the most miserable time for everyone. It was just before the rains came, so it was very hot and unbearably humid. You couldn't walk outside without slipping, sliding or sticking in the mud. Some people might think this very inconvenient, but Mika, Gabe, Tessa, and I quickly realized how great it could be. During that time, the termite hills in our yard turned into a giant playground of fun. The top layer of clay became muddy and slippery, which gave me one of my best ideas, probably to this day. I gasped in amazement at the brilliance of the idea that had just popped into my head. "Guys," I said. "Lets slide down the hill!" At first we tried a few different techniques in an attempt to keep our clothes clean enough to wear another time in the future. We tried sitting on plastic bags, planks of wood and many other objects, but that didn't end up working out as well as we planned. Whatever we were sitting on always ended up slipping out from underneath us. Eventually we just forgot about all of that and decided it didn't matter that much if our clothes got ruined. So we struggled up the hills, trying not to slip and slide all the way down before we reached the top. Once we got to the summit, we chose the best path to slide down that wasn't blocked by trees, bushes, or rocks. We then seated ourselves in the mud at the top of the mound, gave ourselves a little push, and slid down the runway. It was a thrilling moment of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cracker Jack Case Analysis Case Recap The primary reason for the Borden Foods to divert itself from snacks is to emphasis its efforts and resources in the growth of their whole–wheat meal segments. Because of this valuation they had and a growth plan they had they decided to announce sale of Cracker Jack in 1997. The management team of Broaden also recognized that with the increase in competition they have not been able to successfully grow the sales figure in past five years. Also because the Cracker Jack brand has various packaging options and has been maintaining a huge product line of 32 Stock–Keeping Units (SKUs). Evaluation of Alternative Cracker Jacks sales will represent a tiny part of the Frito–Lay's business currently, however the chances are high to get the numbers high from this division if proper decisions are made. Frito–Lay is the leader in the US market concerning market share and sales volume. So they can use their advertising and marketing experience to uplift CJ. CJ should be marketed as a stackable treat which is healthy as of natural ingredients like popcorn. Marketing researchers should focus on the small children as the target market as well. By launching the different sizes and convenient packages to the customers so that they can grab it and go rather than having a box. The CJ should be made available to as many stores as possible by utilizing the same direct store delivery channels. A careful analysis has to be done to change any features like gifts in each bag and the flavor of the CJ, because that is the major point of CJ and most of the customers are attracted because of that particular features. Recommendation In my opinion the Borden Foods will sell the company for above 30 million dollars based on the assets it has and the goodwill for the year ending 1996. However the Frito–Lay should only pay around 25 million dollars for acquisitions of the company. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, my research was all based on how many kernels were in the bag after the popcorn got done popping. What made me want to do this project was more because of people with money issues. The point was to help these people find a way to test how much popcorn they can get with their own money. This is the information on which popcorn brand will pop the most kernels? Since the experiment is on which popcorn brand will pop the most kernels, you need to find some information on reasons why popcorn may not pop. "If popcorn is much drier, it will not pop" (Hartman). So if the popcorn is dry, it won`t pop. This is why popcorn won`t pop which leaves non– popped kernels in the bag. Temperature affects the amount of steam, and steam makes the popcorn pop. Stone Problem Nobody likes to get to the end of their popcorn bowl only to have most of the popcorn not popped. It is very frustrating to purchase popcorn and end up with a bowl of un–popped kernels. Well, this experiment is to determine which brand of popcorn yields the least amount of un–popped kernels? Reason The reason I decided on doing this project is because the materials required are inexpensive and easily available at most grocery or dollar stores. Through this experiment, I can educate consumers on which brand pops up the most corn, therefore saving them money. Hypothesis There are many differing opinions on which popcorn has the least amount of un–popped kernels. Some think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Procedures The purpose of this experiment was to test multiple brands of popcorn under the same setting in order to conclude which one statistically popped the most kernels. I tested the butter flavor of Orville Redenbacher, Wal–mart's Great Value brand, and Pop Weavers. The different bags of popcorn were popped in the same microwave for the same amount of time, 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Then, the popped corn was counted, as well as the un–popped kernels, in order to determine a ratio, and then I recorded the results in the data table. I repeated these steps two more times for a total of 3 trails for each brand. Then I compared the ratios of all the bags to determine which brand yielded the most popped corn. The statistical technique used to evaluate the data was to find a ratio between the number of kernels in the bottom of the bowl and the number of popped kernels. To find this, I divided the number of the actual popped corns by the total number of kernels left in the bottom of the bowl. The ratios and percent were then compared. Once all my results were in the data table, I averaged the 3 trials for each brand of popcorn. DATA TABLE Brand of Popcorn # Un–Popped Kernels # Popped Kernels Total # of Kernels % Popped Orville Redenbacher Butter Popcorn 18 29 22 473 406 441 491 435 463 96.3 93.3 95.2 Great Value (Walmart) Butter Popcorn 37 38 79 457 441

The smell of the popcorn, a crowded theater and a hopefully great movie can make for an enjoyable experience. However, there are those times where someone in your theater makes the experience horrible. It can make a great movie into a terrible experience, and it can make a bad movie worse. With this paper, I intend to give you some helpful pointers on how to avoid making a movie bad for those around you. Hopefully if you don't already follow some of these hints you will in the future. Good theater etiquette starts before you even get to the theater. Some of the worst experiences I have had have involved people coming into the movie after the movie has started. It is never great when someone comes in late and either must walk in front of you or try to squeeze around you to get to a seat. If you come in late then you must choose your battle. If its close enough to the beginning of the movie then hopefully you can manage to get to a seat during the opening credits. If you come late, try to get to a seat while disturbing as few people as you can. Do not try squeezing into the middle of the row when there are seats available on the end. One time I was sitting and trying to pay attention as the movie started when someone decided to squeeze down the row. Being tall that means I need to stand up, instead of just moving my legs. While in New and North Brunswick as well as Sayreville most of the employees were from the lower class, where as the Managers were from the upper class, they lived in Rumson, Holmdel and Edison. In all of these situations I wore jeans, a nice pair of sneakers, an aeropostal long sleeve shirt and an open dress shirt over it. McKenzie 'Why popcorn costs so much at the movies; and other pricing puzzles' 1by Richard B. McKenzie2 explains the economics behind the pricing in the markets we are around everyday and the public help to generate by helping the circular flow of income. McKenzie applies logic and analyses the data he finds although there are some major flaws in his book that he does not explore on which means it gives the book weakness. McKenzie does not confine himself to general ideas of inflated prices or average market prices, he even uses reasoning about prices to show that the federal government's rules for getting on airplanes have caused more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The American disaster of the twin towers terrorist attack is also written about in the book. This chapter has much emotion unlike the rest of the book, which I view as a poor point of the author as although it was an international tragedy, the book itself should be focused upon the economics and I feel the author spends too long speaking about the tragedy. The idea of the theory was good though as it is current news that almost everyone knows and cares about – they also all have an emotional bias and opinion on it. McKenzie explains the economics later on in the chapter very well although his own personal opinion comes through too much. After his emotional introduction to the chapter, there are too many numbers and not enough explanation, which is different to the remainder of the books as generally he gets the balance right between the two. The final chapter that I am going to analyse is 'why so many prices end with 9' this chapter is clear cut and extremely interesting I found. The psychology behind the marketing choice is fascinating and he uses economics in a daily surrounding which intrigues me more and I'm sure many others that read the book. McKenzie had a very balanced and unbiased view in this chapter, although he does occasionally assume that the average person is very simple and not intelligent in the least. He also missed out some information that I though could be relevant such as what the people do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"Get in here, are ya crazy?", said Carlos to Brett and Jerome as they stood on his doorstep while rain was soaking their luggage. "How have you been doing here, you know, ever since Mary left?", exclaimed Jerome with regret as soon as he opened his mouth. Carlos responded before he could finish, "Do not mention that person's name is this household especially on such a special day. I would never do that to you!". Brett stepped in finally and shouted, "OK listen, from now on it is just 3 best friends, a TV, and a great movie.", or so he thought. Carlos walked Brett and Jerome upstairs and to their own bedroom's which were the same dimensions. Carlos knew this, well, because he built this cottage himself so he would know every nook and cranny of it. While Brett and Jerome finished unpacking Carlos prepared snacks and the movie. Brett and Jerome navigated their way to Carlos's personal movie theater and sat down. Brett whispered, "Where do you want to sit?". Jerome scans the theater than says, "Carlos is in the back, he must have been prepared for us huh?". They both sat down in the back of the theater and reclined their seats. The movie had just begun as they grabbed the candy conveniently in their cup holder. "Oh my goodness Brett, look at Carlos. I guess we are getting to that age! • 101. My Visit At A New Church For this assignment, I decided to write about my visit to a "portable church." As a matter of fact, this assignment had come at a perfect time in my life. For quite some time, I had been looking for an excuse to visit a new church. I did not feel like I was getting enough substance, or the "meat and potatoes" and I was hungry for more. I had always thought about visiting other but I could never get myself to walk through the doors. In the eyes of the philosopher Plato, I was sitting complacently in "the cave." But that was when my mom suggested visiting a portable church, inside a local movie theater to be specific. The church I had grown up in was large and extremely conservative. I had grown accustomed to the rows of wooden pews that creaked every time a person shifted their position, and the beautiful stain windows that sparkled when the light hit them at the right angle. The thought of stepping inside a worldly building that smelled like buttered popcorn and had sticky floors to worship was not only an uncomfortable thought but also it felt disgraceful. Our church had always taught us to wear our finest clothes out of respect for entering God's home and all I could picture in my head of the people I had never met from the portable church included images of t–shirts, shorts, flip flops and jumbo tubs of popcorn and extra large Diet Colas. When I was walking towards the entrance of the theater, I felt extremely uncomfortable and anxious. I was not entirely sure what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 105. Movie Theater Experience Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well. Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you're getting something even greater. Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging details that are thrown in the 2–3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie when it comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten really into staying for the credits as well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These are things that I have carried along with me throughout my life so far. Over the years I have gained some new characteristics about me and lost some, that were good and bad. The things that I care most about in life is love for my friends, family and dog. They have allowed me to be myself and have always tried to get me to remain as positive as I possibly can. My family has been there for me throughout my entire life. They taught me the difference between right and wrong. Being a big part of my life, they will always have a special place in my head and heart. As for friends, I have developed new ones over the years, and lost some, but they have taught me things about myself, that I did not know. For example, they have allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, and try new things. I care about them, they play a very important role in my life, because they have allowed me to realize who I am. The final thing that matters a lot to me in my life is my dog, Wyatt. He has been apart of my life since I was very little. My dog never fails to make me smile, and makes my days much better Being a teenager, I also have many fears, stresses and things that weigh me down. • 113. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Going To The Movie Theatre The lights begin to dim until you can barely see what is around you. The smell of butter is in the air as you recline your seat back till you are nearly vertical with the floor. Then a bright light shines in front of you, so massive it is impossible to miss. It is finally starting. The movie is finally starting. There is a significant reason why people occasionally go to the movie theatre to watch a movie rather than just watch the movie at home. Going to the theatre means tons of popcorn, extra comfy seats, a dark and loud room, and a giant screen. Going to the movies is a whole experience in itself. Have you ever had a bad experience at the movie theatre though? One where your shoes begin to squeak because you step in someone's spilt slushy or as you sit in your chair you hear the crunch of the previous person's left over popcorn underneath you. Not only does this situation make you frustrated and irritated, it also distracts you from the movie you went to the theatre to see. If you have a bad time at the movie theatre, you may not even remember the movie you went to see because you are distracted by all the things around you. In this case, going to the movie theatre actually takes away from the movie itself. Going to the movie theatre should let you become totally engrossed in the movie and even enhance the movie itself. When one goes to a movie theatre it needs to be clean. The floors should be clean and dry not wet and sticky. The seats should be spotless with no sign ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 117. Advantages Of Staying At Home Vs Movie Theater When thinking about a trip to the movie theater, what comes to mind? Most may think of the delicious, perfectly cooked, buttered popcorn, and huge movie screen with surround sound. While others may think of the obnoxiously loud atmosphere and inconvenient show times. Everyone has their opinion on which movie viewing option they think is better; the movie theater, or home. When it "boils down" to the facts, it is not hard to see why staying at home is the prefered movie–watching experience over the the movie theater experience, the reasons why this may be so is the cost, the inconvenience of show times, and viewing options The Cost The first point to consider is the cost. Movie theater tickets and concession prices are always on the rise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Show Times Another point to consider is the inconvenient show times. Often, movie theater showtimes seem to be impossible to work around or plan for. This can especially be the case for people who work a job during the day. For example, if a woman wanted to go see a movie with her friend after work, the planning around the movie theater showtimes becomes very tedious quickly. If the woman gets off at five, then that automatically knocks out the 5:00 movie viewing time. The next available show time isn't until 7:30, but she has work the next day and she needs to get home at a decent hour in the day. Therefore she has to cancel her plans with her friend solely due to the fact that the movie theater only had certain viewing times that weren't catering to her schedule. On the contrary, show times at home are a "24–7" deal. Anytime a person feels like watching a movie at home is the perfect time. We are able to watch virtually any movie at any time with the click of a remote button or the tap of an app on our smart phones. Therefore, making the home movie viewing experience the ultimate choice because of the convenient "24–7" showtimes. The Viewing Options The last point to consider is the viewing options. According to Pew Research Center (2006) 58% of people don't go out to the movie theater more often is due to the fact that there are too few good movies to see( pg 3.) And it's not hard to see ... Each house was placed far apart with everyone having at least three acres of property. Our house was at one end of the road, and Mrs. Burnage's was at the other. Mrs. Burnage was a sweet lady, probably in her late 50s when my three sisters, Jason Adams (another younger kid in the neighborhood), and I would go visit her. I visited her from ages eight to thirteen. Mrs. Burnage didn't have children of her own; she wasn't able to, according to my mom. So she loved it when we would come over, and we did too. We'd call after them as they swam away, "Alligators always eat squealing pigs!" and laugh our heads off. Mrs. Burnage would prepare us lemonade, sit on the poolside lounge, and often played The Beach Boys on her boom box. She was always watching us, smiling. When I was thirteen, Jason ran away from home. We had always talked about running away and had even made maps of where we would go. We built a fort in the woods out of fallen limbs and rocks. We even had made a roof using bark and moss for shingles in case it rained. When he finally did run away, he left a note telling his parents why (They didn't let him play Nintendo on weeknights). I was upset that he didn't invite me. When he ran away, he left with only his favorite red hoodie and blue jeans, his backpack, some granola bars, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I had figured that he ran away to our fort, but when I went down to the fort, he wasn't there. He never came back home, and his parents never found him, nor did they ever find his body. Jean Watson believed that the essence of nursing is caring for a person (Alderson, Huynh, & Thompson, 2008). Watson's caring theory has a philosophical, moral and spiritual source that addresses a person's health with a holistic approach focusing on the mind, body, and soul. According to Watson (2009), "nurses and practitioners who are literate with caring relationships are capable of having loving, caring, kind, and sensitively meaningful, personal connections with an increasingly enlightened public: a public seeking wholeness and spiritual connections for their wellbeing, not just sterile, ... "In those patients for whom the caring model was practiced, there was a relationship between the Caring model and a decrease in patient's blood pressure" (Ayse, Behice, Gulbu, Olcay, & Zeynep, 2005, p. 131). It is interesting to see this correlation. Using Watson's Caring model a nurse can help a patient's mind, body, and soul. The environment in which the patient is cared for plays a major role in the outcome of the patient's safety and health. When this patient was admitted he was on suicide precaution. For his safety and per the hospital policy we placed a 24 hour sitter at the patient's bedside. All cords and sharp objects were cleared from the patient's room. Patient's have a right to a safe environment. Every shift I asked my patient if he had any thoughts of harming himself or anyone else. This is part of a nurse's care. Providing privacy for the patient is an important aspect of the environment. My patient had no immediate family or friends, therefore, the patient verbally told me not to give any personal information over the phone. I explained the HIPAA regulations, and my duty as a nurse to abide by these regulations. I made sure I went to a confined area in which other people could not hear if I had to talk about the patient's personal information to doctors. It starts off nice and slowly before heading full steam ahead into a firestorm of kernels as they almost magically transform into clouds of crunchy white goodness. The next thing you'll no doubt notice is the incredible smell that wafts through the room and eventually the entire house, slowly pulling you in as it teases your nose. You'll feel weak as the popcorn tantalises your taste buds. By the time your teeth crunch down on the first bite, you're totally and utterly hooked. Popcorn happens to be one of the most popular snacks and described by some as a completely irresistible treat. As they say, the proof is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His recipe included the use of a grill, a half–pint glass of popcorn and a frying pan that had been rubbed with lard or butter. He advised holding the pan over the fire whilst constantly stirring or shaking the corn and within a few minutes, the popcorn should have turned inside out to reveal the delicious white, fluffy centre. He also mentioned the addition of salt or sugar whilst it was still hot for added flavour. The issue with this particular method however seemed to be with the lard or butter. The butter would usually begin to burn before the pan reached a hot enough temperature and the lard would create popcorn that was covered in slime–like grease. It wasn't until the latter portion of the 19th century that a more efficient way of popping popcorn was discovered. What were deemed to be "poppers" were actually boxes made of tight wire gauze and had long handles attached. They were designed to be held over an open flame. The design of poppers offered a number of benefits including the containment of popped kernels whilst also keeping any hands away from the heat source. Over the years, the popper became hugely popular and as a result a number of improvements were made to make it bigger and better than ever. The summer was coming up and it was going to be a very big one for movies. This job would be something different for me and would help shape my future. The five years that I had spent working and growing through a movie theater supplied me with many memories, an opportunity to grow as a professional and has equipped me with lifelong friends. Some of my most favorite memories were constructed at the little movie theater in Wooster, OH. One of the major perks to working at a movie theater, is the fact that I was able to get into any movie I wanted to at any time. I was also able to take friends to the movies for free which made me pretty popular with everyone! My fondest memory of working at the movie theater was watching movies before they were to come out. It seemed every Thursday night I would be at the movie theater after 12:00AM, sitting down with my friends, devouring freshly popped popcorn, guzzling on some Cherry Coke, and eating as much delicious candy as possible. As I progressed through the company, this became a reoccurring theme throughout the five years I spent there. When I finally became an assistant manager, I was in charge of building movies.
