Ruth Connors.
INTRODUCTION
7. ● The Salmons become worried when
Susie fails to return home from school.
● Her father, Jack, searches for her. While
her mother, Abigail, waits for the police.
● Susie runs home and find Harvey soaking
in a bathtub. After seeing the bloody
bathroom and her bracelet hanging on
the sink faucet, Susie realises she was
murdered by Mr. Harvey.
● Susie was brought to the “in-between” ,
a border between the Afterworld and
Earth.
Rising action
8. ● Jack investigates Susie’ disappearance
with Detective Fenerman.
● Jack believes she was murdered by
someone she knew.
● He researches the neighbors and
eventually suspects Harvey is the
murderer. But their casework takes a
toll on Abigail.
● Jack calls Grandma Lynn to move in.
Feeling alienated with her husband,
Abigail goes to California.
● Fenerman fails to find proof, as Harvey
has carefully concealed the evidence.
● Soon after, Harvey has targeted
Lindsey as his next victim.
Climax
9. ● One night, Jack, carrying a baseball bat, trails
Harvey into the cornfield.
● However, Jack accidentally stumbles across a
teen couple. The boy thinking, they will be
assaulted, bludgeons Jack nearly to death as
Harvey watches nearby.
● While Jack recover, Lindsey breaks into Harvey’s
house looking for evidence.
● Upstairs, she finds a notebook, Harvey returns
home and almost catches Lindsey.
● As Lindsey rushed home, she discover her
mother has returned. She gave the notebook to
Grandma Lynn, who then contacts the police.
● When the police arrived at Harvey’s house, he
has already fled, taking the safe containing
Susie’s body with him.
Falling action
10. ● Ruth and Ray were present when Harvey was
going to dump the safe at the sinkhole.
● Susie returns to Earth and enters Ruth’s body
to complete her last wish. Susie and Ray
kissed and she returned to Heaven.
● Sometime later, Harvey meets a young
woman outside a diner and offers her a ride,
but she rebuffs and leave.
● A large icicle falls from an overhead branch,
hitting Harvey’s shoulder, causing him to fall
backward over a steep cliff to his death.
● Time passes, and Susie sees her family is
healing, which she refers as “the lovely bones”
that grew around her absence.
Resolution
11. MEMORABLE SCENE
● The scene when Susie Salmon ran
into Mr. Harvey at the cornfield
when she was on her way back
home from school.
● Mr. Harvey stops her to show the
“kid’s hideout” he has built
underground.
● The whole idea of Susie being
lured into the hideout is based on
isolation where Susie is unable to
call for help or escape.
● The camera moves in the form of
a vertical tilt from above ground
into the hideout.
12. OVERALL OPINION
● Yes, I really enjoyed watching this
movie because it shows how
difficult it was for the victim’s family
to cope with the loss of child due to
a violent crime.
Do i like it?:
Would I recommend it to my friends?
● I was disappointed with the
ending because the
perverted killer did not get
caught by the police.
● The movie makes the
“in-between” too fantastical.
● Yes, I would recommend
it to my friends because
it is a great movie that
tells us about crimes
that still happens in our
modern era.
