1. How can we provide final year
undergraduates
with more opportunities to explore
career options?
Problem Statement
An eloquent, intelligent and well-
travelled final year undergraduate with
lots of experience in various fields (i.e.,
travel writing, amateur photography)
make better informed decisions
when it comes to selecting
a career path and ‘first’ job
current processes (i.e., internships) are not
always accessible and are not catered to
those who want to explore different
avenues.

Employment
programme that allows

While in their final year in
school, speed-‘dating’ sessions
between representatives of
various companies and
interested students can be
organised to complement the
usual career fairs.This way,
each student gets the
opportunity to ask the
questions they have, and the
ensuing exchanges may have
more depth than the usual
pitch provided by companies.
Company representatives can
also scout for talent through
this exercise.
Instead of finding themselves
stuck in a first job that may
not be the right fit, an
employment programme
which allows fresh graduates
to select up to 5 different
roles in the same or different
companies can be
established. Each student
spends a week in each role,
and, following the full
programme, can make their
decision on which job they
would like to take up.
Using cutting-edge
technology, a game which
simulates real-life situations in
various roles in a diversity of
industries can be created.
Through this, students get a
first taste of the working
world, and can trial a
multitude of different roles
and industries to gain a better
understanding of the position
that best suits them.
