2. In the opening we see Stan one of the main characters in my music video in a mid shot. It
appears to show him writing down a letter maybe to Eminem, who he has an obsession with.
He is sitting at a table in a darken room, which indicates he may be trying to hid away from
his girlfriend or even reality itself. As the first scene we see in the music video is of Stan, it
then relates to the title of the song and symbolises the start of this chaotic relationship. This
in particular is one of my favorite scenes as it depicts Stan as a calm figure at the start, but as
the audience continues to watch it is revealed he is more disturbed then they originally
thought.
3. A long shot is shown of Stan and his girlfriend in a argument, where the tension between
them is increased. The girlfriend seems to be distressed and almost angry at the fact she is
being shouted down by Stan. While Stan has an almost relaxed but aggressive aura around
him. It is here that the audience will get to see the tension between the two and shows right
at the beginning of the music video their abusive relationship. This then brings up the issue
of a ‘wife beater’ in terms of Stan, where his girlfriend is constantly afraid of what he will do
to her.
4. In this clip of my music video a extreme close up is shown of the girlfriends eyes, where she
seems scared and saddened. This shows the aftermath or current abuse Stan is inflicting
upon her. This again brings up the issue of being in abusive relationships, where the husband
or boyfriend is harming and manipulating his wife or girlfriend. This shot in particular
demonstrates the fear in Stan's girlfriend, as they are unblinking and staring at the viewer
almost with a longing look for help. Working with my group we wanted to achieve this so
that the words and plot of the storyline is hard hitting to audiences.
5. This is another of my favorite scenes in my music video, as again it shows a message. A close
up is shown of the girlfriends arm, harming herself because of the abuse she has suffered and
is still suffering. Even though we do not actually see her harming herself, this still lets the
audience imagine for themselves what is happening. As this scene is in the middle of the
music video, it then begins to lead up to the finale of the video and shows how desperate and
lost the girlfriend has become. As this shows a strong message it almost adds controversy to
my music video, as the discussion of harming is brought up making this video unsuitable for
younger audience or those who have gone through the same ordeal .
6. Near the end of the music video a combination of long shot and extreme lose up are merged
together. This then forms one image where the audience now gets to see the Eminem
character. Both still shots show his emotions of knowing that Stan and his girlfriend sadly
passed away. The long shot of his body shows his body language as being upset and
distressed at hearing the news, while the close up of his eyes then shows his shock. As the
two images are merged together, the audience then gets a better viewpoint of both sides of
Eminem and his true emotions.
