2. Our chosen site is Jalan Bukit Bintang. From the analysis that we have carried out,
the main issue that caught our attention was the existence of a dormant space that
has a lot of potential and how it could be a suitable space for the street
performances that are scattered around the street. Street performances or also
known as busking, is the act of performing for gratuities. Within an urban context in
Jalan Bukit Bintang, the topography of the location in which they perform is
irrelevant and unsuitable. Street buskers normally perform with an instrument so
they require a certain degree of openness to perform directly to the crowd without
disturbing the surrounding. On the street, pedestrian flow is in constant flux. The
oppositional directions of traffic there causes the busker’s space to be in a
constant state of change. Therefore, we are proposing to create a functional social
space by designing a structure that provides a shaded platform for the buskers to
perform on and as well as for the audiences to enjoy with comfort and serenity.

3. Our proposed site is the empty space next to ‘cube’

Our chosen site is Jalan Bukit Bintang.
URBAN CONTEXT
Bukit Bintang is a popular destination among locals
and tourist alike. It is a quarters to numerous
prominent shopping centers, cafes, clubs, mall and
specialty restaurants.
ACCESIBILITY + DEVELOPMENT
Under the My Rapid Transit (MRT) project, Bukit
Bintang will gain one more point of access via
transportation. The finalized Sg. Buloh-Kajang Line
will incorporate one station namely Bukit Bintang
Central which has been designated for Bintang Walk
and has already begin operations since Jan 2016.

4. Bukit Bintang is defined its urbanity with its
congested lights of LED light from the advertisement
screens. This lights is turned on most of the time
every night which gives a sense of safety for street
performers to perform. Besides feeling safe, the
bright lights (to include: lamp post at every junction)
will prevent accidents from happening. These lights
brighten up the whole area at night and give a
clearer sight view of Bukit Bintang.
S I T E C O N S I D E R A T I O N
The traffic lights located at the junctions are very
useful to control the car flow and prevent collisions
and unwanted accidents from occur. The traffic lights
functioning well in directing the traffic on the streets
and ensuring the safety of every pedestrians to walk
or crossing the road
The site is accessible by walking especially people who commute
from MRT/LRT station and pedestrian bridge from KLCC to Pavillion.
Apart from the easy accessibility, this site has its own potiental in
promoting people to walk more in the city centre.
