purposes?
Before the real advert of the internet, magazines served much greater
purpose that they do now.
Magazines are collections of articles and images
To find information or options about popular cultures, current events.
Brief information about what is going on around the world.
Commentaries of popular interest, also advertising different products.

3. What Technologies were used to make
magazines?
Type used to have to be set up manually -
individual letter in racks - then eventually it
became cast - now it is done by computer and
everything including images
It used to be done by a
compositor, or page makeup
guy, the type face was laid out
and blocked together. It was like
a hot metal...
They called it print press:

9. What materials (ink/paper/binding)
were used to make magazines?
• Ink - mostly black and white, as getting modern started adding more colour
-make the letters look more classic (sans serif)
• Paper – as a newspaper/ typical paper (not glossy)
