Instruction: This paper of Physics (Theory) (Class X – New Model) consists of two
             separate question papers; the first paper (Section “A”) consists of
             M.C.Q’s. This paper of 30 minutes duration will be given to you first of all
             and collected back as soon the time is over. Then you will be given the
             next paper of 2 ½ Hours consisting of short-Answer Questions (Section
             B”) and detailed-Answer Questions (Section “C”)

Section A: This section consists of 17 Multiple Choice Questions (M.C.Q’s) and all
             are to be answered.
Section B: This section consists of 21 short answer questions out of which 14 are to
             be answered.
Section C: This section consists of 3 detailed answer questions out of which 2
             questions are to be answered.

6: A 5g bullet is fired from an 800g pistol with speed of 50 m/sec. what is the speed of
the recoil of the pistol.
7: Write three states of equilibrium? Explain it with example?
8: A force of 50 N acts on the body, if the moment arm is 5m. find the value of torque.
9: State law of universal Gravitation. Also derive its formula?
10: Define centripetal force and also write its formula?
11: A car of mass 1500kg moving in a circular path of radius 20m at a speed of 20
m/sec. find its centripetal acceleration?
12: What is the difference between kinetic and potential energy also derive the equation
of kinetic energy K.E = ½ mv2
13: Define the following? Give example and write the formula of them?

14: A car of mass 1000kg travelling at 72km/hr is uniformly brought to rest over a
distance of 40m. Find the average acceleration and the average breaking force.
15: Derive the equation of mass of earth? Find the value of mass of earth?
16: Define anomalous expansion of water? How does it help the aquatic animals to
save their lives in frozen seas?
17: What is the different mode of transfer of heat? Also define specific heat, latent heat
of fusion, latent heat of vaporization?
18: Differentiate between transverse and longitudinal waves? Also define the following
terms wavelength, frequency, and time period?
19: Describe the pin hole camera? Explain the formation of an image formed by a plane
mirror?
20: Describe the construction and action of compound microscope? Explain the function
of human eye? What are the main defects of a human eye?
21: An object is placed at a distance of 30cm from a concave mirror of focal length 5 cm.
if the object is 5cm in height. Find the position and size of the image?
22: Define Boyle’s law, Charles’s law? Derive the equation of general gas equation?
                   SECTION „C‟ (DETAILED – ANSWER QUESTIONS)

23: a) State and explain Archimedes Principle. Give one application in finding the
density of different substances.
b) If a given mass of a gas has a volume of 4.5x10 -5m3 at a pressure of 30.0 kPa what
   will be the volume of the gas if the pressure is increased to 50.0 kPa while the
   temperature is kept constant?
c) Define the following a) viscosity b) surface tension c) Young Modulus d) Barometer
       e) atmospheric pressure f) hooks law
24: a) What is an inclined plane? How does it help in doing work? Write down the
mechanical advantage of an inclined plane?
    b) Define Simple Harmonic motion? Write down the formula and explain it with
        mass attached to a spring shows simple harmonic motion?
    c) A body of mass 0.3kg is attached to a horizontal spring. If the value of the spring
        constant is 5N/m find the time period of the body if it is gone a small displacement,

25: a) Define the following terms a) refractive index b) critical angle c) power of lens d)
magnifying glass.
   b) Define beats? And write the characteristics of sound? And explain the audible frequency
      range?
   c) Explain node, antinodes, crest, trough, compression, rarefaction, by the help of a wave
      diagram?
