SECTION “A” (COMPULSORY)

Instruction: This paper of Physics (Theory) (Class X – New Model) consists of two
separate question papers; the first paper (Section “A”) consists of
M.C.Q’s. This paper of 30 minutes duration will be given to you first of all
and collected back as soon the time is over. Then you will be given the
next paper of 2 ½ Hours consisting of short-Answer Questions (Section
B”) and detailed-Answer Questions (Section “C”)

Section A: This section consists of 17 Multiple Choice Questions (M.C.Q’s) and all
are to be answered.
Section B: This section consists of 21 short answer questions out of which 14 are to
be answered.
Section C: This section consists of 3 detailed answer questions out of which 2

1. With the help of a labeled diagram explain the working of electric bell.
2. Steam produces more severe burns on the body than the hot water (give scientific reason)
3. What is the kinetic energy of a 200kg car is travelling with the velocity of 36km/hr.
4. A body kept at a distance of 10cm from a concave mirror the radius of curvature of the
mirror is 10cm, find the position and nature of the image.
5. Define photon and write the two of its characteristics.
6. Define loudness of sound. Give three factors on which it depends.
7. Define simple harmonic motion in case of mass attached to a spring.
8. Write three advantages of transistor.
9. Write two points of difference between the following a) alpha rays and beta rays b)
reflection and refraction.
10.When a sound wave of frequency 200Hz and wave length 3m passes through a medium
calculate the velocity of the wave in that medium.
11.Define the following a) time period b) amplitude c) doping
12.Define radio isotopes and write any three uses of radio isotopes.
13.Write the four uses of spherical mirror.
14.Why a concave lens is suitable focal length used to remove short sightedness of the eye?

16.Find the current passing through the heater which has a resistance of 20 ohm and potential
difference of 220V is applied.
17.Define P-type and N-type substances. Give example also?
18.The sound of a thunder in the sky is heard later then a streak of light although they are

19.State three characteristics of musical sound and describe any one of them.

21.Define total internal reflection with the help of a ray diagram and write down the two
conditions necessary for it.

23. a) Draw a neat labeled ray diagram of simple microscope. Write down the characteristics
of the image formed by it and the formula of its magnifying power.
b) Define reflection and write two laws of reflection. Draw a diagram showing the reflection
of light?
c) State Archimedes Principle? Give an example and also give one application?
24.a) Define kinetic energy and derive the equation K.E=1/2 mv2
?
b) Define the following terms a) Nuclear reactor b) series connection c) parallel connection
d) ammeter.
c) Explain electromagnetic spectrum and explain the waves range created by
electromagnetic spectrum?

c) Explain radioactivity? Write its type in detail? Draw a diagram showing the radioactivity.
