Audience
Audience research is where the conductor of the research communicates with
other people to gather information about their attitudes, knowledge, interests,
preferences, or behaviors about the research conducted.
This involves any communicative research such as interviews and that gets the
responses of people who could be classed as the audiences for the
Market
This is where the researches gather’s information about consumers'needs and
preferences.
Production
Production research is where the information is the collection and analysis of
information for the content and production of a media product.
Primary
Primary research is research carried out in different formats by the person who
needs it rather than using data already collected for example
 Face to face interviews
 Questionnaires
 Surveys
 Observations
Secondary
The user collects secondary data from a different source that someone else has
already found for example:
 The internet
 Census data
 Books
 Competitor data
Quantitative
Quantitative research is collected by the user and is made up of only numerical
data that can be easily analyzed and compared.
Qualitative
Qualitative data is mostly primary data however unlike quantitative data it is
harder to compare as it is opinions and worded answers.
