Pre -viewing
1. What is a stereotype?
2. How would you describe astereotypical heroandvillain?
 Make a table listing the qualities andappearance you would expect to
see displayed/portrayedinfilm.
While viewing
3. Watch the film making special note of:
a. The appearance of the ‘hero’ and ‘villain’ – costuming, grooming,
posture
b. The music/soundthat accompanies the appearance of the heroand
the villain.
c. The ‘assistants’ for the heroandthe villain – how are they
presented?
d. The types of behaviour they exhibit – how do they act around
people, how do they speak to people etc., and what exactly dothey
do? Especially inthe opening sequences.
e. How do other people in the filmrespondto these characters?
After viewing:
i. Make writtennotes inresponse tothe questions above.
ii. Make a flowchart/diagramof the plot of the film – note: this
means just selecting key events and recording themajor
elements of these events (skill – summary).
