1. PURPOSE
Measure and record continuously the temperatures of a specific process area.
2. FIELD OF APPLICATION
All LAFARGE Gypsum Division production sites.
3. PRINCIPLE
For the analysis of the process performances, the technician needs to follow up the
temperature variation in one area of the process which is not under supervision (calciner outlet,
slurry temperature, temperature inside air duct…). For those application, the installation of
temperature recorder is required as well as the use of accurate temperature probe (as defined
in this method).
4. SAFETY
For the installation of the reorder, the technician in charge of the test must wear safety gloves.

6. WORKING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1. Installation of the recorder
• Plug the K type thermocoupler into the
Simple Logger recorder.
• Press the recording button until you have 2
light dots frequencies (referred to supplier’s
manual)
• Install the K type thermocoupler into
defined location.
• In case of ambient temperature above
70°
C, protect the Simple Logger from the
temperature (contact with air duct as
example could damaged the recorder)
• Press the recording button slightly to have
only 1 light dot frequencies

6.2. Reading of the recorded values
• Plug the recorder into your computer using
RS232 cable
• Download and save recorded values.
• The software will save the figures in .TXT
file. The figures on the left represents the
date and the time, the ones on the right the
temperatures.

• To download on Excel, open Excel
software and select .TXT file
corresponding to the test (select all files)
• It will appear the “Text Import” as shown on
the picture.
• Click on “Delimiters” on the Step1 and then
on “Next”
• Click on “Tab” on the Step 2 and then on
“Next”
• Click on “Date” on the Step 3 and the
“Finish”
• On the Column A, there is the date and
time and on the Column B the temperature
figures.
• Select the Column A and convert the cell
on “Date”
