There is numerous small sentences around the page, along with an image of a logo for “Mountain Dew “. There is also a title saying “WSFC SPORT” again with a logo, there is also a sentence saying “Worcester's Number 1 College Sports Mag 2011”. Finally there is a barcode and price situated in the bottom left of the page.
3. Why has this setup been selected? Here you can see the statement “Worcester's Number 1 College Magazine, this is simply used as a sell point so audiences believe this magazine is serious and is a good source for sporting information. As you can see there is also this small logo, this logo is the official Worcester Sixth Form College one, this was added on as an edition to give the readers and the whole magazine a sense of belonging and a feeling of community. This all helping to boost the readers engagement with the articles as they believe they are linked and involved directly. To start with here is my Masthead, I selected two different font styles, one san serif and one serif. The san serif one was selected to connote masculinity, the serif was used to show a sense of sophistication to show that the magazine was to be taken seriously. The font colour was selected as black, this was again used to simply enhance masculinity but also the straight forward and sharp style of sport.
4. The different colours have been selected to make the front cover appeal more to its audiences, the colours are dark and basic colours again attempting to connote the strong, straight masculine style sport has. Here are my numerous sell points, with a variety of fonts both serif and san serif again keeps the consistency of aiming towards both male and female audiences even though there are more elements of masculinity. This is a reversed out cover line, this is to instantly catch a readers attention to this article so they see this first and then find it irresistible to not read on. Here is an image, this image is simply selected so that the audience have something to spot and relate to as Mountain Dew is well known by many people in today's society. Here finally you see a price and a barcode, this is found on all magazines as it is on ours, this just to signify seriousness.
5. Here is the image off my front cover, this is the most crucial part of the front page as it is normally the first seen by any audiences passing by or buying the magazine. The picture selected is off a young, strong male, wearing a stylish t-shirt. The medium close up shows us the individuals broad, no nonsense posture. This style was selected so that it connoted the strength, power and style within the sporting world as WSFC, it successfully did this by the facial expression, clothing and posture.
6. My Contents Page As you can see there is the expecting numbering of different article descriptions to allow us to understand this a table of contents and this is telling us where to find certain information. There are also images with numbers next to them, to symbolise a reference to the subject matter of the certain article. There is also a small paragraph for the editorial, there is also a small image in the corner of this.
7. Here is the title for my Contents page, this important as it connotes like the front page the straight and strong style sport has. The title of the magazine has been put on the page therefore to give sophistication as the serif font style has been selected and to keep the magazine title catchy and going through peoples minds. These are pictures that are a reference to one of the stories within my magazine, this is used to give sophistication but also give the audience an in sight into what is coming. Here you can see my labelled contents, the font colour is red throughout giving a sophisticated style yet not becoming to childish. The writing and numbering are clear so audiences to do not become confused. This part here is the editorial, this technique was emplaced to give the audience a bonding of friendship with the editor to give the magazine informality but also a sense of community which has been established throughout.
8. Why has this setup been selected? Here is the editorial box, this is used to make reader feel engaged and personally being spoken to by the editor. The font style is fairly basic so not to get too fancy and take away that rough style that sport has. The signature again boosts that sense of direct involvement, the image as well just gives the speech more of a spoken mode element. Here are the image references to the articles within my magazine, this again is too improve the aesthetics of my magazine along with again helping with the navigation of my magazine. The numbers and their style is slightly stylish to balance out the masculinity keeping it open to both genders. Here are my short sentences with a brief description of what each article will contain, they are accompanied by a page reference number so the magazine is easily navigated. Also the colour of red is used to again show masculinity and the straight, tough style of sport.
9. Technological Input You have seen all of the ways in which I made sure that my magazine attracted its intended target audience, but also the use of technology has helped me in many ways to ensure this and to boost its aesthetics therefore to boost positive audience feedback.
10. Photoshop Due to the help of Photoshop I was able to use the crop tool to ensure that my images were accurate and I had enough space around my page to allow it to not look cramped and boring. Here you can see where I have began to lasso around my model so that I can remove him from his background to place him on a setting of my choice, thanks to Photoshop this was simple and the end product made a great impact on my front page. To adjust my image I simply used the brightness and contrast option on Photoshop so that my images colours became more enhanced and had a better aesthetic look to attract my audience.
