Prospective Employer
Dear Madam or Sir:
This is in response to a request for a letter of recommendation for Aaron Carlsen who worked as
an Engineering Intern at Ducommun, Inc while I was the Operational Excellence Leader.
Aaron Carlsen worked as a colleague of mine at Ducommun, Inc in Joplin, MO for an overall
period of fourteen months between May 2013 and July 2014. During that time, he worked as an
engineering intern. In that role, he focused on improving and diagnosing problems associated
with the manufacture of electrical wire harnesses.
Aaron is an extremely dedicated employee who always exhibits the courage and creativity
necessary to pursue process improvement or change, even when it results from “out of the box”
thinking and may not necessarily be the most popular path to follow. His projects were completed
in a timely manner even when unforeseen roadblocks were encountered.
Mr. Carlsen is a resourceful, energetic, and solution-oriented person who was always a significant
contributor to any project team he was assigned to. Process improvement is an important part of
the business culture at Ducommun, Inc, and Aaron contributed to the success of both Six Sigma
and Lean Manufacturing projects.
On the interpersonal side, Aaron gets along well with his peers. Because of his desire for results
and a fearless attitude toward change, sometimes his actions may clash with the status quo and,
until positive results are proven, he may not be the most popular individual in the factory.
Communicating in a professional environment, whether it is through electronic or verbal media,
along with structure and organization with his work day and project documentation are just a few
of Aaron’s additional positive attributes.
In closing, as detailed above, based on my experience working with him, I can unreservedly
recommend Aaron to you for any leadership position, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
If you would like further elaboration, feel free to call me at (417) 529-5251 or email me at

Sincerely,
Jered M. Horn
