2. Climate Change
◦ Climate change is the significant variation of average weather conditions becoming, for
example, warmer, wetter, or drier—over several decades or longer. It is the longer-term trend
that differentiates climate change from natural weather variability.

factoren. Een goed voorbeeld is de landbouwsector.
Not only in the Netherlands, but worldwide, climate
change has consequences for nature. More than 95% of
observed changes in plant and animal behavior and
occurrence in various areas of the world are consistent
with expected responses to climate change. The report of
working group II of the IPCC (IPCC, 2007) has listed the
observed consequences. The observed effects are
presented below in two categories. Effects on natural
systems Man-made warming has caused a discernible
effect on many physical and biological systems worldwide
over the past three decades. Effects on human systems
Effects of regional temperature increases on some
managed and human systems are beginning to become
apparent. The effects on human systems are more difficult
to distinguish than those on natural systems, due to
adaptations and due to non-climatic factors. A good
example is the agricultural sector ...
