: The territory of the Sairam-Ugam State
National Natural Park occupies the northeast
position in the system of the Western Tien Shan.
3. : the preservation, study and
restoration of the biological diversity of unique natural and
historical-cultural complexes and objects, ensuring a sustainable
and balanced use of the natural resources of the Western Tien
Shan.
4. The park area is 149,053 ha(1,490 km²), including the area
covered with forest - 27,553 ha. The total length of the park
borders around the perimeter is 135 km.
5. The territory of the park is represented by the Ugam, Karzhantau and
Boraldaytau mountain ranges, as well as the north-western spurs of
the Talas Alatau. The Ugam, Sairamsu, Kaskasu, Burgulyuk, Badam,
Mashat, Daubaba and Kokbulak rivers flow in the park.
7. The territory of the park has 7 natural zones, ranging from
mountain-steppe to highland, where there are
1,635 plant species, 59 mammal species and 300 bird species.
8. • Here grows 240 species of plants, listed in the Red Book of the
Republic of Kazakhstan. It can be emphasized that almost all
Red Book species are rare.
• Very rare species:
• Sogdian ash,
• wild grapes,
• Yanchevsky currant,
• Albert's iris - are presented only by a few specimens.
9. On the territory of the national park, juniper
woodlands consist of three types of juniper:
• Zeravshan,
• hemispherical
• and Turkestan.
• Turkestan Archa is a real long-liver.
10. Millennial trees, which are still quite healthy and give normal growth,
are often found. At the upper border of the archa distribution,
sometimes it lives up to 4 thousand years. The juniper at the age of 500-
600 is a common phenomenon.
• The most remarkable feature of the Western Tien Shan is also the
proliferation of many wild species of cultivated plants - apples, pears,
plums, grapes, walnuts, onions, and tulips.
11. • Bears, wolves, wild boars, mountain goats, roes,
badgers and porcupines are common inhabitants of the
park. Graceful Karatau argali in the spring visit the
southern parts of the Boralday mountain range. Very
rarely one can see the most cautious inhabitants of the
park - the snow leopard and the Turkestan lynx.
12. • The spread of the unique population of the Menzbir marmot in
the Badam and Saryaigyr river basin should be noted. The
Menzbier marmot is an endemic of the Western Tien Shan and is
distributed only in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. In
recent decades, the number of marmot steadily declining, and
the species is endangered.
