Assessment
What is Psycho-educational Assessment?
•A systematic process of
gathering relevant and valid
information about a student’s
strengths and needs and the
students interactions with the
environment,
What is Psycho-educational Assessment?
•to understand learning and
developmental concerns, and
to assist with appropriate
educational planning for the
student, which includes
placement, intervention, and
accommodations.
•It involves the
implementation of a set
of assessment
procedures, selected to
address a set of referral
questions.
• The intent and findings psycho-
educational assessment should be
communicated to
parents/caregivers, and where
appropriate, to the student and to
those working with the student
(teachers, therapist), in a language
and manner that is accessible or
understandable to them.
•Psychological report focuses
on assessment and
interpretation of educationally
related psychological test and
educational test, including test
of intelligence and cognitive
abilities, achievement test, tests
of behavior and attention.
Intelligence Test
• The most common use are the Wechslers
Intelligence Scale
• It was established by Psychological Corporation
and is appropriate for ages 16-89.
• The Wechsler scales yield:
- Full Scale Intelligence
- Verbal IQ
- Performance IQ
Other adult intelligence scale
includes:
1. Stanford Binet Intelligence Test, 5th
Edition
2. Kaufman adolescent and Adult
Intelligence Test
3. Woodcock Johnson III (WJIII) Test
of Cognitive Ability
• Typically norm referenced
achievement testing
• Attention problems are often
related to achievement problems
• This test covers the basic areas of
reading, mathematics and written
language. Sometimes oral
language is also assessed.
