3. What is Organizational Communication?
Organizational communication, broadly
speaking, is: people working together to
achieve individual or collective goals.
(Miller, 2002)
4. Introduction
The words “this is Pakistan Broadcasting Service” which
went on air at the midnight of August 14, 1947, marked
the birth of Radio Pakistan. It was converted into
Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) on December
20, 1972 as a statutory body governed by the Board of
Directors and the Director General.
5. Purpose
The purpose of the Communication Management Plan is
to define the communication requirements for the project
and how information will be distributed to the
stakeholders, employees, staff of Pakistan
Broadcasting Corporation.
6. Scope
Stakeholder Management – identification of project
stakeholders, analysis of their requirements, and
planning for their needs.
Communication Planning - the communication and
information needs of project stakeholders.
Information Distribution - how information will be
distributed to all stakeholders
7. Assumptions
Communication activity has already commenced with
the early phases.
Overall project outcomes and transition plans have
been endorsed by director Administration and Controller
Home, PBC Headquarters, Islamabad.
8. Constraints
All projects are subject to limitations and constraints as
they must be within scope and adhere to budget,
scheduling, and resource requirements. Project planning
and documentation are no exception to this rule. There
may also be legislative, regulatory, technology or
Departmental policy requirements which must be
followed as part of communications management.
9. Stakeholder Management
Goals: Inform the customers, representatives of key
interest groups about the benefits which the
Organization will provide to them.
Objectives: Promote the customer's participation in the
integrated Customer Relationship Management System.
10. Stakeholder Management
Key Stakeholders: The stakeholders of this
communication are all the radio stations and
broadcasting houses consist on 64 stations across the
country and all PBC Staff and representatives.
Role of PBC in formal Communication Sessions:
The PBC is committed to taking a direct role in
supporting communications across the Radio Stations,
Head of Units, and SDs. It will make a contribution to
seminars, meetings, and other events
11. Communication Management
Communication Management Approach
The PBC, led by the Controller Home (PBC
Headquarters, Islamabad), will take a proactive role in
ensuring effective communications. Controller Home
directs or communicates to each and every PBC station
and Head of Units.
14. Information Management
PBC Team, SDs Meetings—the PBC team will utilize an
agreed standard template for meeting agenda and meeting
minutes.

Representation and membership from stakeholders—All
radio stations, Head of Units, have been agreed and the
program board has been established. It meets on a regular
basis and is chaired by the Director Administration.
15. Guidelines for Meetings
Meeting Agenda
Meeting Agenda will be distributed 5 business days in
advance of the meeting. Meeting Minutes
Meeting Minutes
Meeting Minutes will be distributed with 5 business days
following the meeting.
Action Items
Action items are recorded in both the meeting agenda and
minutes.
17. Conclusion
The PBC team is comprised of all persons who have a
role of performing work on the projects, new tasks, and
assignments. There needs to be a clear understanding of
the work to be completed and the framework within which
delivery is expected.
Effective communication is an essential part of a
smoothly running of any organization. Pakistan
broadcasting (Radio Pakistan) has a very strong internal
and external communication network which plays an
important role in its success
