Engineering design
Engineering design is the process where by one devises a
system, module, or
process to meet desired requirements. Engineering design
involves the use of basic science
and mathematics and engineering sciences among others for the
new things. Engineering
design has great importance in the history of industry. For good
engineering design to occur
there need to be understanding between the client and the
designer. There is the designer
user triangle which consists of clients, the user of designed
device and the designer. This
triangle helps us to know that the three participants might differ
in their interests and these
results in monetary problems when the client demands are not
accomplished.
There are different devices which have been made in the past
and are very important
for they are used up to date. There are detailed and conceptual
forms of designs. The
devices like airplane have been made to ferry goods and humans
in air and wheelchairs for
carrying the disabled among other devices. There are vital
vocabularies which need to be
defined in engineering design. The terminologies are; design,
Engineering design, form,
function, means, objective and constraints which makes the
understanding of engineering
design better understood. There are various assumptions which
have been made in the
definition of engineering design, with form and function mostly
being used.
The designer has some questioning process which derives
certain benchmarks
during engineering design. The questioning process has the;
clients objectives, metrics to
be used, the function of what will be designed and establishing
the requirements of what’s
needed. Engineering designs faces some challenges which are ill
regulated and open ended.
In the real sense, for one to have the best design he or she needs
to learn it better. Exercise
and paying close attention is the main driving force which
makes designers makes
perfection in their work. In early days, for engineering design to
occur when had to think
of it and how it should be done.
In conclusion, during the evolution of the engineering design,
one had to make the
drawings first of what he or she needed to make, one could have
blue prints or flow chart
as it was the case in Kansas City. Designs for manufacturing
and concurrent engineering
are very important in the engineering designing. For excellent
designs to be made, one
needs to be excellent in their management.
Product design
For businesses to remain active and having market, it needs to
design new products every
time to attract and maintain customers. There are some
companies which have been involved in
the product designing of various things. The likes of companies
like; The Ford Motor Company,
the Raychem Corporation, the Microsoft Corporation and the
Xerox corporation among others.
During the product design, there are some of the product
development task which needs to
be attained for full achievement of new things in the firm. The
methodologies used in this chapter
have been selected for they stimulate creativity and help solve
problems, consider each element
for best results and examines all impacts of the designed
devices made.
Product development process is the whole process needed to
bring entre new set of thing
in the market. Design process is the technical activities that
help meet advertising and business
case idea. There are some types of designs and the redesigns
which are used in product designing.
Desig-ns can be; original, adaptive or variant design which can
be used in various technologies.
Redesigning is usually based on designing already existing
things.
Engineering design can be grouped into; electrical, mechanical,
industrial, food science,
furniture designs, material designs and aerospace among others.
Model centric and systems
approach are used for designing in this chapter. Product design
applies the same concept we keep
learning and repeating in school and also in life.
Modern product development process applies new strategies in
the designing of new things
in today’s world. Typical stage gate engineered product
development is explained in complex ways
and has various applications which are used differently in
different companies. Product
development process is very vital in engineering and has
various steps. The step involved are; fist
you comprehend the opportunity, develop a concept and then
you implement the concept. The
stage gate development process has varied degrees of
completion during the designing process.
Understand the opportunity has four activities which include
developing a vision, market
chance analysis; customer needs analysis and competitive
analysis. Developing a concept has fours
activities which include; portfolio planning, functional
modelling, product architecture
development and concept engineering. Implementing a concept,
it has activities like embodiment
engineering, physical and analytical engineering, design for X
and robust design. Reverse
engineering and redesign methodology can be grouped into;
redesign, modelling and analysis and
reverse engineering. An example of product redesign
development is Xerox Corporation.
Design EDGE product development process consists of
understanding the product task,
conceptual design, layout design, final design and tooling
design. There are some theories of
development which have been recorded in history with inverts
coming from various countries in
different years.
In conclusion, product development is very vita in the
engineering field and learner shuls
always sue new ideas. Reverse engineering and redesigning is a
forum for learning and
experimenting by upcoming engineers.

For good engineering design to occur there need to be understanding between the client and the designer. There is the designer user triangle which consists of clients, the user of designed device and the designer. This triangle helps us to know that the three participants might differ in their interests and these results in monetary problems when the client demands are not accomplished. There are different devices which have been made in the past and are very important for they are used up to date. There are detailed and conceptual forms of designs. The
  • 2. devices like airplane have been made to ferry goods and humans in air and wheelchairs for carrying the disabled among other devices. There are vital vocabularies which need to be defined in engineering design. The terminologies are; design, Engineering design, form, function, means, objective and constraints which makes the understanding of engineering design better understood. There are various assumptions which have been made in the definition of engineering design, with form and function mostly being used. The designer has some questioning process which derives certain benchmarks during engineering design. The questioning process has the; clients objectives, metrics to be used, the function of what will be designed and establishing the requirements of what’s needed. Engineering designs faces some challenges which are ill regulated and open ended. In the real sense, for one to have the best design he or she needs to learn it better. Exercise
  • 3. and paying close attention is the main driving force which makes designers makes perfection in their work. In early days, for engineering design to occur when had to think of it and how it should be done. In conclusion, during the evolution of the engineering design, one had to make the drawings first of what he or she needed to make, one could have blue prints or flow chart as it was the case in Kansas City. Designs for manufacturing and concurrent engineering are very important in the engineering designing. For excellent designs to be made, one needs to be excellent in their management. Product design For businesses to remain active and having market, it needs to design new products every
  • 4. time to attract and maintain customers. There are some companies which have been involved in the product designing of various things. The likes of companies like; The Ford Motor Company, the Raychem Corporation, the Microsoft Corporation and the Xerox corporation among others. During the product design, there are some of the product development task which needs to be attained for full achievement of new things in the firm. The methodologies used in this chapter have been selected for they stimulate creativity and help solve problems, consider each element for best results and examines all impacts of the designed devices made. Product development process is the whole process needed to bring entre new set of thing in the market. Design process is the technical activities that help meet advertising and business case idea. There are some types of designs and the redesigns which are used in product designing. Desig-ns can be; original, adaptive or variant design which can be used in various technologies. Redesigning is usually based on designing already existing things.
  • 5. Engineering design can be grouped into; electrical, mechanical, industrial, food science, furniture designs, material designs and aerospace among others. Model centric and systems approach are used for designing in this chapter. Product design applies the same concept we keep learning and repeating in school and also in life. Modern product development process applies new strategies in the designing of new things in today’s world. Typical stage gate engineered product development is explained in complex ways and has various applications which are used differently in different companies. Product development process is very vital in engineering and has various steps. The step involved are; fist you comprehend the opportunity, develop a concept and then you implement the concept. The stage gate development process has varied degrees of completion during the designing process. Understand the opportunity has four activities which include developing a vision, market
  • 6. chance analysis; customer needs analysis and competitive analysis. Developing a concept has fours activities which include; portfolio planning, functional modelling, product architecture development and concept engineering. Implementing a concept, it has activities like embodiment engineering, physical and analytical engineering, design for X and robust design. Reverse engineering and redesign methodology can be grouped into; redesign, modelling and analysis and reverse engineering. An example of product redesign development is Xerox Corporation. Design EDGE product development process consists of understanding the product task, conceptual design, layout design, final design and tooling design. There are some theories of development which have been recorded in history with inverts coming from various countries in different years. In conclusion, product development is very vita in the engineering field and learner shuls always sue new ideas. Reverse engineering and redesigning is a forum for learning and
