1. The climate in Spain
Spain is located in the temperate area, but it has got a variety of climates. Spain has five types of climates:
oceanic, continental, Mediterranean, subtropical and mountain.
Oceanic climate
The Cantabrian area of Spain, which includes Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque
Country and most of Galicia, has got this climate. There is abundant
precipitation, many vegetation and mild temperatures.
Continental climate
Areas that are far away from the sea have this climate. An example is Ebro
Depression. They have got extreme temperatures, low rainfall and varied but
little vegetation.
Mediterranean climate
Areas near the Mediterranean Sea have got a Mediterranean climate. The
have high temperatures, little and irregular rainfall and vegetation adapted to
long periods of droughts.
Mountain climates
Areas with high mountains. They have low temperatures abundant
precipitation and vegetation. The Pyrenees, the Picos de Europa or the Sierra
de Gredos are examples of this.
Subtropical climate
The Canary Island have a subtropical climate because the are near the
Equator. They have high temperatures, low precipitation and their own native
vegetation.
